SPECIAL FEATURE

Flickering Blade: The power of the crystal's emitter has been overtuned, and the body of the blade itself will often flicker with violent energy, barely contained within its field.

STRENGTHS

Aura: The weapon exudes an aura of the Ashla. Whilst it cannot dispel the Dark Side as Cedric's previous weapons could, it still serves to bolster its user's physical endurance, and deepen their connection to the Living Force.

Overtuned: The blade can cut through nearly any material, courtesy of its overtuned emitter.

Phrik: The hilt has been forged mostly of phrik, making highly resistant to any forms of damage, though not invulnerable.

Waterproof: Bogan's Lament has been designed to operate in virtually any environment, including underwater excursions.

WEAKNESSES

Two Handed Grip: Trying to wield this weapon like a traditional lightsaber will likely get your hand cut off. This weapon requires two hands to use effectively.

Force Nullification: If ever cut off from the Force, the blade loses its synergy with its wielder, and its scabbard will become entirely useless as the blade would simply cut through it.

Tempermental: At times, brief spouts of energy will flicker off the body of the blade. In the hands of one unaware of its nature, these spouts could cause serious bodily harm.

Loud: Overtuning the emitter has removed the usual hum of the lightsaber, replacing it with something more similar to a mechanical wailing. If the blade is drawn, you'll certainly hear it. Stealth was not a factor in its forging.

DESCRIPTION

After his self-imposed exile, Cedric saw fit to pass the Blade of Ruusan to a younger Jedi in hopes that they might utilize it better than he could. For a time, the Essonian utilized the weapons of Sith he had slain, though such weapons often lacked the proper accouterments to properly accomodate his fighting style. Whilst at first hesitant to forge a new weapon, Cedric's mind was changed after nearly losing his life due to the failure of one of the blades he'd looted.

Determined to forge a weapon that would suit his vengeful purpose, Cedric returned to his ancestral home on Ruusan, and took to the forge. Rather than build a standard lightsaber, Cedric drew inspiration from the vibroswords of his forefathers, and the protosabers they later adopted. The blade's hilt was forged like that of a normal sword, with housing to accommodate a crystal, and an experimental emitter his grandfather had designed. The emitter would serve to strengthen the power of the weapon tremendously, allowing it to sheer through materials such as cortosis as if they were durasteel, but it came at a cost. The lightsaber was violently volatile, and just as much a danger to its wielder as its victims. Cedric immediately sought a solution.

He found that solution in alkahest. The Essonian studied the works of all who had practiced this art within the library of his ancestors. The process took many weeks, and just as many sleepless nights, but in the end Cedric discovered a method to 'bless' metal with the touch of the Ashla. Together with several priests of the Ashla, Cedric led a ritual to enhance the steel of that blade and the emitter itself within depths of the force nexus beneath his home. The 'blessing' forged a barrier within the Force around the hilt and emitter not unlike the barriers force sensitives could erect around themselves for defense, but with a simple change: so long as the weapon could touch the power of the Ashla, its barrier would remain permanent. With the barrier in place, the weapon's volatility lessened well enough that it could be used reliably.

Pleased with the results, Cedric took to the blade's construction. After meditating for days, Cedric felt the presence of a crystal within the depths of the force nexus. It thrummed with the Light's presence, and felt almost alive to the touch. The Essonian knew immediately that such a tool would serve him well in the war against the Bogan. With the crystal placed within the lightsaber, the blade took on a life of its own, and though not nearly as powerful as the Blade of Ruusan, it too became a beacon of the Ashla's will.

Content with his work, Cedric dubbed the weapon Bogan's Lament, strapped it to his belt, and took to the stars once more.
