SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Unique nerve agent: Rather than effectively destroying nerves or blocking the synapses, BN-IV Nerve Agent effectively overstimulates all nerves it comes in contact with, causing pain, temperature, and other essential stimulant receptors to go haywire. People who would have contact with this nerve agent through their skin would effectively feel the same immense overstimulation of their nerves as if they would have had their entire skin removed. people who would have the misfortune of breathing in this nerve agent, would actually feel a similar experience from the inside out.
  • water soluble: The BN-IV nerve agent is water soluble, but while it does lower the effectiveness of this nerve agent by doing so, it would still end up with similar effects, only with a greater activation dose necessary. I.E. Where in gaseous form, the nerve agent would suffice to have the skin or internals absorb the nerve agent through pores, the liquid state after being turned into a solution would be more akin to several seconds of soaking or the consumtion of several sips of the solution.
  • Potentially hazardous with rebreathers and gasmasks: The BN-IV nerve agent has been field tested against the standard rebreathers that are widely available on the market. It has been concluded that while these standard tools to filter out toxins have proven to be less effective on the nerve agent than other already known substances. Though they do delay the effect and the potency of the BN-IV nerve agent to a degree, as they can for a limited duration of time handle exposure to the gas. This is because most rebreathers and gasmasks while designed to handle a wide variety of substances and toxins, usually tend to favor lighter gasses and airborne toxins because these are easier to filter on a microscopic level, while heavy gas-based toxins such as the BN-IV can effectively clog the very filters meant to allow those wearing the rebreathers and when there is no more resistance from the filter, the pile up of the BN-IV nerve agent in the filter might cause heavy breathing and result in forced hyperventilation, which in turn may lodge loose microscopic amounts of the nerve agent within the filters. While this would mean the exposure is slow and minimal over time, these situational occurances could lead to potentially hazardous outcomes... with eventual prolonged exposure still resulting in the same symptoms or forcing the wearer of the rebreather or gasmask to remove this tool in order to "breath" thereby exposing themselves directly.
STRENGTHS
  • Very effective in all of its forms
  • effects are immediate and without any sort of incubation period
  • effects may cause death purely through stress and psychological overloading
  • effects may cause intense hallucinations and temporary psychosis
  • soluble in water
  • disperses within one hour of dispersion, as it is considered a heavy gas which will sink into the ground after some time.
  • May bypass standard rebreathers and gasmasks over time
WEAKNESSES
  • The effects do not kill outright
  • The effects may last up to six hours and thus are not permanent
  • Subcutaneous absorption will be less effective on species with increased epidermal rigidity (I.E. exoskeletons and armor plating)*
  • As it is a heavy gas, dispersion can't be done from below ground and must be airdropped or utilised in solution form
  • May bypass standard rebreathers and airscrubbers to a degree
DESCRIPTION
The BN nerve agent is a creation from the N&Z Laboratories division which had been deemed too inhumane for use or deployment and had been ordered for destruction. Alas, when Section C got wind of this nerve agent's development, the orders for destruction had been delayed and upturned, in steadn Section C would take custody over the nerve agent's formula and tweak it ever so slightly to better fall within their own set of parameters. They could not turn the nerve agent into an actually lethal weapon, but in the end, when they had reached the fourth iteration of the formula, there was no need for it to be outright lethal and in stead it would function as a means to cripple, disrupt and utterly derail any enemy or opponent when coming in contact with the nerve agent.

The nerve agent could be utilized in grenades or cannisters, through the most effective means apparently would be to simply disperse it through the use of modified starfighters and or freighters. The effects of the Nerve agent are extremely potent and while they do not outright kill, casualties can still happen as a result of the immense pain and sensory overload victims would experience after coming in contact with the nerve agent, at which point they will suffer the pain, the hallucinations and utter disarray of their mental and sensory faculties for up to six hours, meaning that while it isn't a permanent effect, the endresult may effectively be more traumatizing and more useful than just another corpse on the ground.
