PRODUCTION INFORMATION

SPECIAL FEATURES

Droid Brain

  • 'Gar'mirshe'ika'-R Droid Brain
    • Maintenance and Repair Memory Module
    • Personality: The Vhe'viin behaves like a trained rodent for the most part. All tasks that it is programmed to perform it will carry out with no hesitation and to the best of its abilities. Anything it isn't programmed to do the droid will, depending on how it had been treated by the operator, either attempt the task to the best of its abilities or outright refuse. In combat situations the droid is programmed to defend itself and the operator with the full extent of its combat capabilities.

Comms

Detection, Targeting and Tracking

Navigation

  • Navigation Suite: The navigation suite uses the different systems to best ascertain the droid's location and then provide appropriate navigational aids as required by the droid.
  • Navigation Database: The droid maintains a map of maintenance passageways and other access pathways from blueprints or design briefs of the craft it is programmed to maintain. Alternatively, if given time and opportunity the droid will map out said passageways and access pathways of craft it doesn't have the blueprints or design briefs.

Environmental Compensation Systems

Defensive Sysyttems

Self-preservation Systems

Weapon(s)

Movement

  • Repulsorlift
  • Quadrupedal: The disc the legs are mounted to orient to face 'downward' and the droid's limbs can then be used for locomotion as well.
    • Micro-repulsor(s): The droid's limbs are tipped with micro-repulsors which it uses to aid in maneuverability when using its repulsors or reverses to help it adhere itself to surfaces.
    • Magnet-tipped Limbs: The droid's limbs are also tipped with magnets which help it adhere itself to magnetic surfaces.

STRENGTHS

  • The Last Toolkit You'll Ever Need: The Vhe'viin can perform all manner of repairs, from simple to complicated, on equipment, armor, weapons, vehicles, starships, stations, installations and the like.
  • Independent: The droid doesn't need to be supervised, the droid can diagnose problems, identify solutions and carry out repairs entirely on its own.
  • Combat Rated: Given that the droid is expected to function on the battlefield and be embedded with combat units, it is fully combat trained and equipped with an electro-shock probe and a retractable particle beam sidearm. The droid is fully capable of taking on enemies whether that be sabotage droids on a starship or hostile infantry on the ground.
  • Resilient: The droid's frame, plating and lining make it notably resilient to all forms of damage it is likely to be exposed to on the battlefield, making it perfect for use in such conditions.
  • Fast: Whether on 'foot' or being held aloft and propelled by its repulsors, the Vhe'viin is as fast as the creature of its namesake, if not faster.

WEAKNESSES

  • Limited Cannister Capacity: The capacity of the radiation dampening foam, emergency patching foam and extinguishing foam is limited given that there is limited space in the droid's chassis.
  • Limited Animated Metal Sealant: The animated metal sealant reservoir is not particularly large, limiting how much can be utilized, given the limited space in the droid's chassis.
  • Limited Hull Patches: There are a limited number of hull patches stored aboard the droid due to the limited space in its chassis.
  • Packed: Weapons fire that penetrates the droid's chassis is likely to hit on of the droid's important components as there is virtually no empty space in the droid.
  • EMP/Ion: An EMP/Ion weapon powerful enough to punch through the droid's protective measures will likely fry all of its sensitive electronics.

DESCRIPTION

"The last toolkit you'll ever need."
- Company marketing slogan for the droid.

The BMD-01MR is a refresh of the deep modernization of the company's popular Vhe'viin battlefield mechanic droid, taking advantage of the years of experience in shrinking the size of components down to be able to better pack in more sensors, scanners and the like into products. The modernized Vhe'viin-M was designed during the waning days of both the company's contract with as well as the CIS as a whole. Deemed not a priority, final testing and production was delayed until the collapse of the Rimward Trade League, following which the company began renewed modernization efforts to better combat the renewed Sith threat.

"The last toolkit you'll ever need," was more than the droid's marketing slogan, rather it summarized the principle behind the modernization of the Vhe'viin. Miniaturization of a variety of communications systems, sensors, scanners, optics and the like gave the droid remarkable detection capability. This provided the improved analytical capabilities of the Gar'mirshe'ika droid brain and the new memory module with more than enough data to enable the droid to diagnose problems, identify solutions and carry out repairs entirely on its own. The droid's specialized memory module for the Gar'mirshe'ika enabled it to perform all manner of repairs, from simple to complicated, on equipment, armor, weapons, vehicles, starships, stations, installations and the like.

Notable attention was paid however to the fact that the droid was designed to be used in combat conditions, something that was not addressed in the previous model. The droid's 'on-foot' speed was enhanced by replacing the standard servo motors in the design with the company's carbon nano-tube muscle fibers, giving it notably faster movement when using its own limbs. The droid's fast speed when combined with its resilient chassis and small size give it greater battlefield survivability. The Vhe'viin-M, unlike the previous model is fully capable of defending itself. Armed with an electroshock probe and a retractable particle beam sidearm, the droid can put both weapons to great use thanks to its dedicated combat training.

The issue with so much tech being packed into the droid however, is twofold. For one, a penetrating shot is likely to cause damage to multiple systems. Secondly, the amount of consumables that the droid can store internally for systems like its foam sprayers, hull patch or animated metal sealant applicator is limited. The other issue with the Vhe'viin-M that plagues most other droids is its vulnerability to EMP/Ion weapons. Though the droid is well protected against such damage, any damage that can overwhelm such protective measures is likely to irrevocably damage the droid's sensitive electronics.
