Blue Sail At Sunrise

While the youngsters were frolicking about in the river, Théo had set about fixing some lunch. He had prepared some meats and bread and laid them out on a wooden platter, which did not take him long but young boys these days had a liking for pancakes. Personally, he could not see the fuss about them but regardless he cooked up a large plate full of them and kept them warm for the cold bodies that would come from the river in due course. Once everything was done, he made himself a sandwich and leaned on the side of the ship watching them splashing about with a grin.

Unlike Kiriko, the boys would need to get out soon else they would get too cold and end up sick and hopefully by now Thirdas' action would be well diluted by now. Father would be so proud. "Come on you lot, lunch is ready", he threw over the rope for them to climb aboard and made sure the towels were at the ready.

Once the boys had eaten, they would have to get a move on, make the fork in the river before night fall. Their heading would be east along the Élivágar and into unknown territory, at least for Théo and he doubted the rest of them had venture this way before today. Little is known about this part of Midvinter, the folk in the Eastmark more reclusive and autonomous and although Eastmarkers would come to the capital to trade they mainly kept to themselves.

While the boys sat warming up and tucking into their food, Théo pulled the anchor and set sail guiding the ship along the depths of the river. The wind caught in the sail to the full and the ship clipped along. Around them the river cut through the ranges, tall walls of rock lined the side and it was a spectacular sight, dwarfing them ship and all. Snow clung to the rocky outcrops a blanket of white glaring from the sun's rays looked incredible against the blue of the water.

"We come to the fork", he yelled to them and pointed to the sight of it, the ship lurched and banked to the right as they turned into their new horizons.
