The Father
Veikis and his brothers sat in the jumpseats of the The Dropship. The location they were being taken to was The Unknown. All that they could truly be certain of is Jedi would be there. Taking a wet stone, Veikis sharpened his sword, the scraping of steel against the smooth square rock filled the hold. When suddenly they felt the floor drop, the ship was in free fall as sirens rang loudly and the Droid Pilot turned to them,
“Prepare to drop!”
The back hatch opened fully as each Son of Shadow connected their belt with a metal line, and fastened a metal chute at the back. Veikis took point, he was after all Lord Halitus’ First Son. Stepping up to the opening, the clouds were dark and thunder rattled the ship, as chop tossed them up and side to side. Closing his eyes Veikis took a breath, aiming to control his fear. Then with his black leather hand unclipped the line and leapt out into the dark, he pulled a cord that released a great metal plate that yanked him back, his head jerked up to see his brothers falling behind him, one who pulled his chute was cut asunder from the line and let out a scream. Veikis tried to follow his rapid descent, preparing to severing his plate chute, when he realized this was a moment when he had to decide, risk his own life for his brother and jeopardize the mission as Leader, or accept that this was his brother’s destiny. Swallowing he took his hand off the emergency purge lever, as a canopy like chute popped off the metal and slower his descent.
The night and the storm masked their arrival, each falling near a grey hill with dead trees, great drops of rain falling on the. Veikis took pulled out electrobinoculars that he scanned a structure in the distance. It was an installation the length of which was considerable, the height 6.096 meters. Veikis turned to two brothers,
“Karza, and Sethi, you approach from the front. Jega and Naile you find a way in the back. Daboti and I will take the roof. The rest of you stay here until I give you the signal.”
Daboti looked at Veikis,
“How do you suggest we reach the roof? It is quite a height to scale.”
Veikis smiled,
“The high ground will be the safe. If we can hold it, we can be picked up by the Dropship.”
With that The Kvapas began their descent towards the structure like shadows in the night. Lightning bolts lite the sky, and provided necessary noise to mask their approach. As they came closer to the installation, they saw Soldiers in towers. So far they had not noticed their arrival, Dabotis took a bow and aimed at one man with a cap and slung rifle talking on a comm. he let fly a black feathered arrow that dug into his neck and made him cry out as he leaned and fell from the tower, his rifle laying beside his corpse. Dabotis seized the blaster rifle, and heard the comms come alive, “Holt? Do you copy?”
Veikis took up the comlink and said,
“I tripped, everything is fine.”
There was static and then after what seemed an eternity a voice responded,
“I told you to be careful you clumsy Bantha. Over and out.”
The Force seemed to be with them. Climbing the ladder up the tower, Veikis and Dabotis creating a zip line to the nearest part of the structure.
“You sure this will work Vei?”
He shook his head in response,
“No.. but so far so good.”
Firing a harpoon into the chrome metal wall, the line tugged and then their belts being tethered jumped.
The two Shadows took to the line and made their way to the wall, dangling high above the ground. Below lights moved, as two patrols were walking the parameter. Dabotis took hold of his rifle as he now let go of the line, being held by his belt and aimed at them with his scope. Veikis had reached the wall and was preparing to scale when he turned to see Dabotis preparing to fire.
“Dab.. come on!”
He ignored his brother as he watched the patrol find the corpse and raise their comms to report. Letting fly several bolts, one struck a guard in the head, but the other evaded and opened fire back. The shots made Dabotis swing on the line wildly as he hurled more red burning bolts.
“Dab! The line can’t take the stress! Move it! Dab!”
The metal wire gave way and the sharp sharp shooting shadow fell. Veikis tried to grab the line, which sliced into his glove and split skin leaving a red cut. Looking down he saw Dab crushed on the rocks below, the patrol examining his body. Surly the alarm had sounded by now.
Inside Jega and Naile has successfully used their cloak and dagger methods to cut down some guards and make it to the security center. There a handful of soldiers watched cameras which were having some distortions due to the storm. Naile threw a smoke bomb inside, which slowly filled the room with fumes that made the men choke just as a patrol was filling the comms with chatter. Navigating the cloud, Jega and Naile moved like phantoms in the mist and slit the throats of each security officer, so that when a mayday came in, there was not anyone to give answer. Jega blacked out the cameras after seeing Dabotis’ body on the rocks, laying in a pool of red.
At the front gate, Karza and Sethi saw turrets and some soldiers standing guard.
“Well Seth? Any ideas?”
Sethi shrugged,
“I am not the brains of this operation Kar. I say we charge them.”
Karza shook his head,
“I may not be the brains either, but I know stupid when I hear it.”
Seth sighed,
“Well then what do you suggest?”
Suddenly the front gate opened and a officer in blue spoke to the front gate guard. The turrets which had green lights went off and lowered.
“Look! They are disarmed! Jega and Naile must have made it to control room! Let’s do this!” said Karza. Taking up his mace made of spikes and black wood shaft he charged, the thunder growling as they reached the men chatting. Karza took his spikee club and smashed the side of the head of a soldier as Sethi drove his spear through the gut of the officer, the remaining guard turned to draw his side arm and found his body mawed by their blades like the teeth of Rancors. The two stood over their victory, both of their weapons dripping with the life waters.
Veikis was now on the roof where he found a sight he did not expect. Sitting with legs crossed was a figure in brown robes, with their hands raised as if in adoration of the thunder and bolts, their eyes closed. Veikis saw dangling from their waist was a chrome hilt shining. The Sith Hopeful took his sword from his back and approached as the drops of rain fell between them, beating the metal as he took each step.
“Prepare to drop!”
