Private Blood and Bad Ideas

Czoe1WJc_o.png

It was rare that Valaine got to indulge herself in so fine a meal, so it was just her luck that something so sinister and dark would interrupt it. The second she heard that unison of voices around her and her vision was engulfed in darkness her eyes widened in shock. For her to see a darkness so complete was rare considering her gift of sight, but there it was, all encompassing and smothering her as decaying limbs grasped her form and held her in what felt like a cold firm vice.

She immediately wanted to pull away from Vakhari's arm but she felt although she couldn't move a muscle, wherever paralyzed with fear or held by these rotting limbs, she couldn't tell. When her throat was grasped she almost choked on the blood that now seemed to refuse to be consumed. She felt it drawing up through her body like she was about to vomit, the sweet taste of Vakhari's blood visiting her tongue once again before it left her mouth and nose.

When all the blood had retreated back to its source and the sound of the voices faded it was only the snap of Vakhari's fingers that brought her back to reality. She immediately pulled her mouth away from her wrist and breathed in a heavy gasp as if she had been struggling for air, her face already glistening lightly with sweat as her wide eyes looked to the other woman in shock.

"Wh-..." she stammered. "What was- Was that you...?" she asked with a light shudder, briefly glancing over her shoulder as if to check for anything else within the room. She then recalled that presence she had earlier sensed within Vakhari, when she listened for her heartbeat. There was no doubt in her mind that it must have been whatever lurked within her.

She wiped her mouth and hesitantly nodded, "Y- Yeah... Cold is fine..." she conceded, now willing to drink blood that didn't really suit her taste after such a harrowing experience. By all accounts the young Sangnir looked shook up and breathing heavier now.

Vakhari leans in, getting closer to Valaine as she inspected her. Sweating and somehow more pale, she could feel the Sangnir's heart pumping faster... Something had shaken Valaine, badly.

"Was what me? The snap? I did snap my fingers yes, you weren't listening to me when I told you to stop. But when I moved back you just seemed frozen in place, slack jawed."

"Y- Yeah... Cold is fine..."

She gives a nod, glad she wasn't dealing with a picky eater anymore. Scooting back on over to the samples fridge she grabs the freshest one to at least be a little nicer, doing an enthusiastic spin on her wheeled chair as the girl came back over.

"Freshest one in there."

After handing over the 'food', Vakhari thinks for a moment.

"You heard them, didn't you? That is why you froze... I suppose by technicality that was me, I am bound to some sort of malevolence."

It was a lengthy story, one she didn't really feel like sharing at this moment.

"Our focus should be back to you, my scans had shown that your body separates where the blood goes. It is brought to some special organ it seems, no doubt to be turned into that product then distributed to your systems. These changes seemed to have shaped you into a separate species from whatever you used to be, which I would argue that your intended role now in the food chain would be considered an apex predator."

She is sure to log all the info she has gathered thus far, fingers going back to typing away at rapid speeds.

"I'm not sure what you are called though, the only other person I know of that might be able to answer that is Darth Keres. That head mistress of the academy I went to on Yalara, she was rumored to consume blood and flesh... Souls as well but you get my point."

Vakhari finishes her log, taking a sip of her coffee.

"Mm, but I should state that Yalara isn't very welcoming to visitors. Be it the Necrotechs, occultists of the lady of nightmare, or even the structure itself. I of course don't know how desperate you are for answers, but I can at least give my opinion... Try and look elsewhere, and if you do go do not wander the undercroft."

Vakhari sighs, remembering it all too well.

Czoe1WJc_o.png

Valaine nodded lightly in response to Vakhari asking if she had heard the voices while taking the offered blood pack with a hesitant hand. Even now she looked at the cold blood with a light look of distaste before she started to drink from it regardless. Cold blood always tasted so awful to her, even if it was relatively fresh, and as much showed on her face as she winced lightly.

The initial cut on her palm had already since healed however, and if Vakhari wanted to see the enhanced regenerative capabilities a second might need to be made. As Valaine consumed the blood all the typical Sangnir strengths were enhanced further, something that'd undoubtedly show up on the scans.

She finished her feeding as she listened to Vakhari explain to her how exactly her body was functioning and now having calmed she gave her something of a glance of disbelief and a soft huff, "An 'apex predator'...? I still lose sparring matches to other acolytes here you know?" she commented. Sure she might be considered higher in the food chain now, but as far as she was concerned inherent strength and agility were just a fraction of what she needed to be able to call herself an apex predator confidently.

With a gentle sigh her shoulders slumped lightly as she wiped her brow of the remnants of sweat that had formed when she was paralyzed. "You've already told me more than I expected to learn... It might be nice to find someone like me, get answers from them, figure out just how many others there are... But I can't do much as I am right now. I'd probably just die if I tried to look for them. I didn't choose to come to this academy but while I'm here it's still got more to teach me before I consider leaving."

Her grey eyes shifted towards Vakhari's coffee. "... Can I have a sip of that? I need to wash the taste of this cold blood out of my mouth." There was a brief pause. "... So long as it's not going to put more voices in my head..."

They scoffed at her notion that they were an apex predator, the act causing Vakhari to need a moment to relax herself. The irritation hidden behind her soft face as she simply smiled it away, setting her coffee aside.

"What I mean by that is you hunt what is considered the top of the food chain, I think in time you will kill your peers with ease. Maybe you are simply taking the wrong approach to how you deal with them?"

Vakhari herself knowing all too well how bad she is at physical combat, much easier to apply her mind to get rid of people she didn't like... An extensive list for sure.

"That's good! Apply yourself! Learn all that you can, while you can. The things you learn can save your life, perhaps even change the respect others give you. Perhaps one day our strengths can direct our own fate, controlled by our hands."

Her views on the subject were different to say the least, in fact.. She wasn't even a Sith.

"You want a sip out of my cup..?"

Her cup? Where HER mouth has been? But- But what if Valaine drooled into it? Oh it was hard telling what all was in their mouth.... She already had to deal with the bite, and now Valaine wanted to spread more germs?

The very idea of someone drinking out of her cup, it caused her eye to twitch.

"M0rtis? Fetch another cup of coffee, quickly."

Swift as ever, the droid collected a fresh cup for Valaine. The coffee was hot, unsweetened, and dark. The taste should be similar to the typical 'drink' Valaine enjoyed.

Czoe1WJc_o.png

"Maybe you are simply taking the wrong approach to how you deal with them?"

Valaine hummed gently, "I have the strength, I have the speed, the stamina too. But I lack... form, training,..." she smirked softly to herself, "... Discipline... But you're right, that all comes with time." a nod was given in agreement. "You're strangely easy to talk to, you know? Considering who you are. I try to avoid important people usually, got a bad history with them." she confessed as she then watched Vakhari's response to being asked for a sip of her coffee.

It became quite clear that Valaine's flavor of arrogance came in such a social fashion, practically skipping the thoughts of rank and boundaries that separated her from others the more she talked to someone. Even the request itself was annoyingly casual, like she hadn't given it any consideration at all and just asked bluntly.

When M0rtis was asked to get a whole cup of coffee she seemed confused. "Huh-...? A whole cup...?" she asked before it was given to her. She held it in her hands, looking down into the dark liquid. "Great... Now I'm going to be wide awake for hours." she muttered gently before she raised the cup to her lips and took a sip.

She paused after tasting the coffee and as she lowered the cup from her soft lips she seemed to smile faintly for a moment, "That's so bitter... Reminds me of someone..." she commented absently before her smile steadily faded as one memory led to another and her eyes slowly glanced aside towards nothing in thought. Holding the cup in both hands her attention then returned to Vakhari. "Ah... Was there anymore tests you wanted to run...? If not, got any good ideas on what you could make that'd help me out in a fight? Got a few ideas myself, but you've probably got the professional opinion right?" she asked as she leaned back casually in her seat as she took another sip from the coffee.

"So you have the physical strength, the inherent speed, the reflexes too?"

Vakhari gives a smirk, impish, mocking... In a playful way of course.

"Well, we do learn through our mistakes. Just have to be careful those mistakes aren't your end, maybe I am a little biased in that regard."

She muses over it, typically she didn't have to deal with such a thing. Yet, despite all that she was a craven, petite, pathetic in many ways. But weren't we all pathetic in some way?
You're strangely easy to talk to, you know? Considering who you are.

"Oh?"

This would mark the first time anyone had ever said something like this, and for once someone said something out of their tongue that made her not desire to cut it out of them.

"Considering who I am... Who am I really?"

A simple question, but it never truly was. Vakhari was not who she appeared to be, this question was meant to invoke thought while being masked by her playfulness thus far.

"Tests.. Tests tests tests.. Hmm. Well I can't do that- Or- No no, not that one."

In all honesty she did want to dismember and or starve them to see what would happen, but we can't always get what we want.

"Tips? I can't say I am great at what you seem interested in.. The whole smacking things with a saber. However, if it is something you are truly invested in.... Watch them, watch and study every duel, every fight. Study it until you can mimic the steps with your eyes closed, you may got bored, stressed, but remember your life is on the line."

Czoe1WJc_o.png

"Who am I really?"

Such a question did indeed invoke thought. Valaine knew there was definitely more to Vakhari than she appeared, she had felt it, heard it, but despite whatever may be lurking beneath the skin she gave an honest answer for how she'd been treated by her so far; "Someone who kindly agreed to not cut up a random acolyte nobody would've missed into tiny little pieces for her own gain. Someone who even, although the acolyte regrets it, let her try to feed on her." she answered as her eyes fixated on the woman. Whatever was within could be the most malevolent, cruel, monstrous being in the Galaxy, but what was outside had been accommodating and kind. That was enough to earn some of Valaine's trust.

She lightly nodded along to Vakhari's words as she took another sip from her coffee. "Ah, I was more asking about what you could make. You're an inventor right? It's why I came here in the first place if you recall. Here I thought giving you my blood was going to be some sort of payment, but I suppose it was just out of the goodness of my own heart huh?" she smirked lightly in jest. "I mentioned I had ideas though... Do you think, knowing what you know now, that if someone else's blood was injected into my own, it'd convert it the same way as if I had consumed it? If so..." she raised her right hand and wiggled her slender pale fingers, "What about metal claws? Sleek, subtle, and with a way to siphon blood into my own body."

"Someone who kindly agreed to not cut up a random acolyte nobody would've missed into tiny little pieces for her own gain. Someone who even, although the acolyte regrets it, let her try to feed on her."

"I'll take it."

Vakhari was also glad they wouldn't ever want to try and feed off her again, a product no doubt in thanks to what she carried.

"Oh! That is what you meant! Well of course I invent and craft all sorts of things, it might take me a moment since I like to make something better than a single use tool, it has to be perfect."

Endearing to others, an obsession to her.

"That could work, a good foundation to go off of. If we go with an idea such as that I would want to put you under surgery of course, maybe some augments to the body.. Along with something to help stave off that hunger for a longer time?"

Perhaps a stim of some kind? Or maybe even something alchemized?

"I don't really care for traditional payment, but I wouldn't be opposed to bartering."

She checks her cup, disappointingly empty already...

Czoe1WJc_o.png

Unfortunately for Vakhari Valaine had found her blood to be so delicious that she was already weighing the cons of it against the chance to get a taste of it again. She just wouldn't try to actually swallow it next time... But she definitely hadn't been entirely dissuaded from her blood.

"I don't mind the wait, perfect is good. It'd suck if you made something that was surgically attached to me and only worked once, after all." she huffed in light amusement as she idly placed her right hand on the table, glancing over it as she splayed her fingers out. "Surgery... Hmm... I'd have my conditions of course. The first being to not touch my face, I'm sure whatever you make will be beautiful but I like my face as it is. The second is that I'd have you promise to not get carried away, subtlety is important to me. Also don't touch my left hand, that's my dominant one." she spoke as she turned back to Vakhari. "What other kind of augments were you thinking about? Staving off the hunger would be nice, really hurts when it gets bad..."

Upon noticing the white-haired woman's cup was empty she glanced to her own cup for a moment, which was still mostly full. With a gentle hum she nudged it towards Vakhari with a finger, "Have mine. If I drink all of it myself I'll be shaking all day. Kind of why I only wanted a sip of yours. Does this work as payment?" she asked with a light tilt of her head and a cocky smirk, maybe she could just bring coffee to Vakhari whenever she needed something. "Otherwise I could just offer you my services, such as they are. More samples if you're still curious about my affliction too. I'd feel guilty if I just left you with nothing in return."

She finds herself slowly and idly turning in her chair, listening to what else Valaine had to say. Some of which was rather unfortunate, and had to be covered over.

"I have done reconstructive and cosmetic surgery hundreds of times, I know I can map your face if need be."

Gazing at the ceiling, becoming lost in thought as the girl had begun to visualize the procedure. As her eyes watched the patterns in the ceiling become blended, she began to see more into her imagination over reality.
she spoke as she turned back to Vakhari.

No doubt turning back to see the good doctor idly spinning in her chair, unlike others though where this act would be an evident sign of being ignored, Vakhari still seemed to be focused on Valaine... Mentally of course.

"Left hand is fine, I can make sure I don't damage any nerves. If we want some sort of weapon that doubles as a feeding tool within a hand it would only make sense to have it within both, retracted and able to be hidden. I have worked on blades before, I can make sure the alchemized process has them forever sharp."
"Have mine. If I drink all of it myself I'll be shaking all day. Kind of why I only wanted a sip of yours. Does this work as payment?"

She stops spinning, blinking a few times.. She needed to address something? That is why she stopped right?

"Hmm?"

Her eyes narrow in on the offered coffee, she shakes her head.

"No no, I am ok."

A polite way of saying she doesn't want to share germs.

"You said something about services? Samples too would be lovely, but I cannot get all that I want."

Vakhari says in a mix of vagueness and honesty.

Czoe1WJc_o.png

Valaine watched Vakhari just spin around while lost in thought and she briefly marveled at her ability to not get dizzy after several spins. Valaine didn't seem too keen on the idea of her left hand being operated on, but perhaps she had to let go of some of her caution if Vakhari was as skilled as she claimed. Despite that it did seem to visually make the Sangnir nervous.

She looked down to her left hand, "A... Blade?" she turned the hand over as she tried to visualize whatever it was Vakhari had in mind. "Like... Inside me?" she winced lightly, the thought sent a shiver up her spine. "Wouldn't that hurt?" she asked as she looked back towards the rotating doctor.

Upon hearing that she wasn't going to be able to so easily get rid of her cup of coffee she sighed dejectedly before taking another sip from it before answering at the mention of services, "Well, I'm not that good at fighting yet and I'm sure you've probably got a bunch of better options. But maybe if you need any physical help with stuff I can lend a hand. I wouldn't offer myself as any kind of bodyguard because honestly I can't even protect myself yet." she paused, "... Just out of curiosity, what samples would you actually want?" she dared ask as she idly brushed a hand through her dark hair.

"A... Blade?"

"Yep."
"Like... Inside me?"

"Indeed!"
"Wouldn't that hurt?"

She stops slowly rotating in her chair, her head leans over the back of the chair as she laughs a bit.

"The only thing that is going to is hurt your brain if you keep thinking that way."

Vakhari squints with a smug glare, soon she stands... But you can hardly tell.

Using her hand, she traces a finger starting from Valaine's hand to up their arm.

"So, if someone was enough of an idiot to just shove a blade inside them.. It would in fact cause major damage. But, if we just add protective and non invasive tubing for these claws to retract into. I could also make sure these claws are not detected by typical scanners, keeping it as a hidden weapon."

She starts to get lost in thought while staring at the interesting flesh before her eyes, she was an architect after all...
"... Just out of curiosity, what samples would you actually want?"

Her eyes blink, did they really want to know? Because she had so many, one could say the whole package.

"Well..."

Vakhari's hand goes back down, finger tapping upon Valaine's hand.

"I would want to remove your hand, to see how long it takes for a new one to reform. But if we wanted to get picky with the details, the hand would first be removed, then I would want to splay it into segments. Each and every bone, nerve, vein. All frozen in place like a work of art to study."

Next we travel up the arm.

"Here the arm would be treated the same way as the hand, as we get closer to the heart I want to see how your veins work. Maybe your heart has some traits I have yet to see from just a simple scan?"

She then takes a step back, posing her fingers as if Valaine was in a portrait.

"Everything."

Vakhari states, nodding her head.

"Your whole being would be surgically split into layers, so I can watch everything from your systems at work to your fleshy tendons and strings pulling you back together. Monitoring your brain would be interesting, I bet I could see the neural networks begin to shutdown as your more primal stem takes over when you starve."

The girl states all of this rather violent interest, backed by a chipper tone and soft smile. Despite the words that were said, she didn't mean it in some threatening way.

"You said something about physical help?"

"The only thing that is going to hurt is your brain if you keep thinking that way."

Valaine offered a light pout in response. "I dunno, I'd say they're perfectly reasonable questions." she answered as Vakhari approached her. She blinked as the woman's finger came down to trace from her pale hand to up her arm while the theoretical procedures were explained to her. As it was made clear to her she made something of an understanding expression, "Oooh, you're talking about claws inside of my hand? That's a lot more invasive than I thought personally, but I kinda like it." she nodded in agreement. "What about maintenance though? You mentioned alchemy could keep them sharp, but what about keeping them clean?"

Her grey eyes glanced from both her hand and arm and back up to Vakhari to catch her staring in thought at her flesh, and strangely enough Valaine got a sense of appreciation from it. The fact that someone could find her so interesting was a novelty to her, she who had always been hiding in the shadows and avoided the gaze of others. Her tired eyes turn back to the finger that slid back down her arm and to her hand as the white-haired woman started to go into detail about all her potential plans if she were given permission to cut the Sangnir up.

"I would want to remove your hand, to see how long it takes for a new one to reform. But if we wanted to get picky with the details, the hand would first be removed, then I would want to splay it into segments. Each and every bone, nerve, vein. All frozen in place like a work of art to study."

At this Valaine didn't seem particularly disturbed, but rather more thoughtful as she pondered, "Hmm... I've never had to regenerate anything more than cuts and bruises, and you've seen how slow that can be. A whole hand?" she tilted her head as she thought about it, "Considering how slow the regeneration is, it wouldn't be able to do the whole hand right? Or at least, it'd take a really long time... But if you cut my hand off and kept it pressed against my wrist, it could probably reconnect right?" she asked in return. "That being said... Burns are like, horrible. Way worse than before I got infected, they don't really heal either."

The finger once more traced along her smooth pale skin and up her arm as her eyes looked to it again.

"Here the arm would be treated the same way as the hand, as we get closer to the heart I want to see how your veins work. Maybe your heart has some traits I have yet to see from just a simple scan?"

Valaine found the attention now somewhat flustering as Vakhari took a step back to put her into focus. Running a finger along her arm, talking about her heart, and now picturing her in a frame? She was certain the pale woman thought nothing of it but she'd never experienced such focus before, and it brought forth an amused and flustered huff from her as she glanced aside. "Everything...?" she repeated as Vakhari went into her macabre plans.

"Cutting me up into so many little pieces... That'd really hurt, you know? I might not even survive." she began as she looked back towards her with a soft smirk, "If I let you do that, you wouldn't be able to make anything for me right? But... I like your enthusiasm, it's sorta flattering. Maybe if things go well between us and this little project of ours, I'll consider giving you more than just a blood sample?"

Her words, despite Vakhari's own, were true. Very rarely had she seen anyone since she became what she is hold such a passion and love for the things they took so much interest in. It was, despite being so macabre, endearing and heartwarming to see someone so genuinely enthused by their work. In this cold galaxy Valaine had known, she'd take it.

"You said something about physical help?"

"Oh, yeah. I did. Do you need help with anything like that?" she asked as she idly brushed a hand through her dark hair, pushing some errant straight locks behind her ear. The focus upon her had definitely embarrassed her.

Several questions had been asked, with them leading Vakhari to come up with her own. It was something she had noticed as of late, odd expressions, elevated blood pressures. Something had embarrassed the girl, but what?

"There's no need to feel embarrassed, ev- well... Just because you can only do physical labor doesn't-"

Her brain was caught in a fog, what was she supposed to say? You really can't be both nice and truthful now could you? Physical labor was for droids and slaves, typically a role for the slow ones...

It was fine to lie of course, she did it all the time.

"You aren't useless, tell you what... You could help me with heavy things around my lab, perhaps learn a thing or two about my craft?"

There we go, much better.

"As for keeping the claws clean, that was already on my list. Can't have you slicing up some washed up junky and catching something right?"

She plops back down into her chair, sinking into it.

"If say I diddddd do what I wanted, I could make you feel as much pain as I wanted really. Remember, your brain is wired to your whole body. Augmenting a brain is something I have done plenty of times, mostly though they want implants... One fellow though I reallocated more of his 'flow' to more combat related sections."

It was a rare opportunity this, to have her hands on new and interesting genetic material.

"Aside from the claws, was there anything else you wanted to talk about? Perhaps ask?"

Valaine blinked in confusion for a moment, "Huh...? Oh, no I'm not embarrassed about that. I'm just not used to someone giving me so much attention... Even if it is just for my body- Ah... No, that sounds odd. My..." she gestured to herself vaguely, trying to figure out how exactly to word it, before just giving up. "... You know what I mean. But that's nice of you to say I'm not useless, thanks." she offered a soft smile of appreciation. How often had she heard that word in reference to her? It could be assumed not a lot.

She leaned forward in her seat in thought as Vakhari sat back down. "Your craft, though... Listening to what you just said about me, I was thinking of something similar." she then stands up and takes a step towards Vakhari and smirked mischievously, "Sure, what I am might be interesting to you, but what you are is interesting to me too. I've never known someone who's blood can just return to them, even after I've drank it."

A moment was taken to consider the small pale woman in front of her, "I'd be just as curious to see how exactly you work too. For example, the bite I gave you earlier healed very fast, your regeneration is probably a lot better than mine, but what are its limits?" she asked as she leaned down to eye-level and stared at Vakhari with her tired searching gaze. "How does the blood know where to return to? Is it the brain?" she asked as she lifted her slender finger to gesture to Vakhari's head before her hand lowered towards her neck with two fingers in a curved fashion as if to mimic fangs against her throat, "The veins?", and then finally she pointed towards her chest, "Or the heart?" she hummed in thought. "If I could figure that out, then maybe I could actually drink your blood, it was really good you know? The best I've tasted. Maybe I just have to eat your heart first so it doesn't try to escape?"

She smirked softly in jest, it was clear she was just seeing if Vakhari would be just as disturbed about being the subject of dissection as others were. "And can it be stopped? If you froze your blood, would it still return? If you trapped it in a sealed box, would it stay in it? Just what are the limits of your body, Vakhari?"

With that she took a step back and fell back into her own seat with a smug smile, and then took another sip of her coffee that was almost finished at this point. A gentle sigh escaped her lips as she pondered, "Mmmm... Anything else I wanted to ask or talk about though?" She tilted her head from left to right in thought, eyes looking back upon Vakhari. To say that she was growing fond of her was an understatement, despite the woman's eccentricities. Tired eyes glanced around the room searchingly, and eventually she came to a decision.

"That mention of learning a thing or two, how about you just teach me genuinely? I'll admit I've never thought about surgery, augmentation, and invention before but..." she studied Vakhari for a moment longer, "... If it brings you so much joy, maybe it'll do the same for me...?"

VJqHYP0.png

eeing if Vakhari would be just as disturbed about being the subject of dissection as others were.

Why yes she was, but not for the typical reasons. She had been cut open before, back when she stitched herself back together... It was the pain. Even if she stubbed her toe she would get tears swelling within her eyes in a heartbeat, earlier she had managed to power through the bite for the sake of testing.

If there ever was a moment where she herself was to be opened up, she wouldn't care so long as she didn't have to feel the pain.

She was a monster for sure, but the most human thing about her was her cravenness.

As Valaine reversed the tables, placing her hand upon Vakhari, the young Lutris would keep her posture. Not very fond of someone touching her with hands she didn't see washed or sanitized prior.

"How does the blood know where to return to? Is it the brain?"

"What? No no no, someone could explode my head and it would reform. It isn't typical regeneration, yours at least has some level of science to back it up. But mine? I have died before, been cut open and studied."

But the strangest part is that her body hadn't decayed, she was dead for weeks.

"I would have hoped that your interest in nibbling on me would have died."

She scoffs playfully, perhaps her strange blood didn't torment the acolyte enough?

"If you were to help at my lab, I would assume you'd get to learn about some basics at least."

It would have to be the most basic of basics, we all have to start somewhere right?
she studied Vakhari for a moment longer

"Why are you staring at me?"

"I would have hoped that your interest in nibbling on me would have died."

A soft smirk appeared on Valaine's lips. "Well it did at first. But... Maybe I've already forgotten how bad the discomfort was? The lure of your blood is strong, and it makes me consider worth trying again. Since your blood would just leave me anyway, I'd just not swallow it and try to convert it, maybe that's what caused the issue for me in the first place... Trying to claim it. But don't worry, I'm not going to ask to bite you anytime soon, not unless you want me to."

She then offered a nod at the mention of starting with the basics. It was just like anything else really, even still at the academy she was simply going through the basics in every field. This would surely be no different, and at the same time she'd get to spend more time with Vakhari too, perhaps learn more about her at the same time. "I'd be glad to, might give me more purpose. I'll be around more to help you figure out those claws too."

"Still... That you've died and come back is really strange... I'm curious as to how it works, but at the same time I wouldn't like to see that test performed." she spoke as she reached for her coffee, tilting her head back as she drank the last of it. Yup, definitely going to be awake all day now. She placed the empty cup back down with a soft sigh and looked back to Vakhari.

"Why are you staring at me?"

There was an answer to this question, a very obvious answer to Valaine herself, but she had something of a read on Vakhari's personality already and so simply offered her a soft smile and a shrug. "You were staring at me earlier. What? I can't look at you?" she asked in something of a coy fashion as she brushed her hand through her hair in something of a dismissive manner. She found Vakhari to be attractive, that much would've been obvious to bystanders, but she felt it was far too soon and sudden to state something like that to the poor doctor so openly.
