SPECIAL FEATURES
- While these axes are just as they seem, simple axes, a lot of hard work and effort went into the ornate carvings etched into the songsteel blades. The handles are also replaced and re-carved in the same pattern every few years using whatever wood available to the crafters on Skògur Heim at the time.
- On the very bottom of both hilts the woodworkers of Skògur Heim have masterfully carved an image of Alvida’s family crest. If Alvida chooses to hit someone on any part of their body with either of her axes the crest is imprinted on them, leaving a rather nasty bruise that lasts for a week or two.
- The patterns carved into the handles are hollowed out to create a path for the wind to travel through if/when Alvida throws them. The sounds they make as they travel through the air are akin to the scream of a demon or the cry of some horrific beast. They are placed there in an attempt to provide some distraction as the blades are being thrown at an enemy or returned to Alvida.
Strengths
- The Power of Song - The Songsteel blade ensures that Alvida can successfully attack or defend herself if her opponent wields a lightsaber.
- Indestructible Edge - The material (Phrik) used to make the sharp edge of these axes is practically indestructible. This means that Alvida can go long periods of time using them with little to no worry of the edge being dulled by daily tasks that would ordinarily ruin a blade.
- Shocked - Rigged lightsaber activation circuitry has been embedded into the hilts of both axes. When the pressure switch for the igniter is pushed the activator sends a pulse of energy through the axe, shortening out whatever was unfortunate enough to be pummelled by it. Though this has never been tested by Alvida herself these shock capabilities have a decent chance to be used to short out electrics. For example security doors, droids and even ship engines.
Weaknesses
- Unbalanced - The edges of the blade curve downward and the hallowed hilt, thus making the blades and the hilt marginally unbalanced. Alvida has to ensure she adjusts her aim or correct her stances to make up for this.
- Maintenance Required - Every so often, due to extreme use, the material that makes up the deadly end of the axes has to be realigned and secured to the blades themselves. If the fixings holding the edges in place happen to come loose Alvida would be left with two blunt weapons.
- Primitive Circuitry - The power cell and circuitry hidden within the axes comes from a planet with limited technological knowledge. The shock capabilities on the weapons have a limited lifetime before Alvida has to return the axes and have the power cell and circuitry replaced. The weapons will also short out when submerged in any kind of liquid.
DESCRIPTION
These two axes were crafted to fit Alvida’s hands, commissioned by her Father as a coming of age gift, which is thirteen on Skògur Heim. Due to the importance of the gift, and the rarity of the materials they intended to use, the best weapons crafters on the planet were given two years to work on the project. Over time they traded and bartered for the songsteel to forge the blades and the phrik to create an inscrutable edge. The carvings on each of the blades were specifically designed and hollowed out to create the haunting noise the blades make when they are thrown. On Blod the carvings depict Alvida’s true form, the wolf. On Bein the complicated knots are representative of the unity of the three packs that live on Skògur Heim.
The circuitry that runs under the hilt’s wrappings and lightsaber ignition that is placed where her thumb sits had to be acquired from the black market (most regular market stalls do not sell technology) on Skògur Heim, due to their advanced technological capabilities. The circuitry was taken back to the high quality workshops and refitted as a stun for Alvida to use in dire circumstances. The resident inventor of the planet, who is eccentric and crazy in equal parts, came up with the crudely crafted stun technology and is the one who attends to it when it requires repairing.
