Blocking and Lokkin'

Listening to the man known as Tal’verda, Kyle heard the experience of war and tactical brilliance in the way his words rolled out from behind the faceplate, but, when it suddenly faded, the slightest twitch in Kyle’s eye and swallow was probably enough to have him shot.

But for such a striking appearance, he had good reason. Talk about a dramatic entrance. Looking down to the generator behind the man, he was ready for whatever work had to be seconded to him – to protect, to defend, to destroy – that was his job as a trooper.

Thankfully the faceplate came back upon Tal’verda and he revealed his great plan – to get the generator working.

Kyle glanced out of the corner of his eye to the Commander, and placed his helmet on the floor, stepping forward.

”Sir, if I may?”

Crouching down in the surprisingly flexible armor, he glanced over the bronze power cables, finding which one he had to hold down. He stood and placed his foot onto one cable, pushing it down, turned his head and winced, for if anything shorted or sparked, he’d certainly feel it.

”When you’re ready.”

"You are clearly joking," said Tmoxin a hint of amusement in her voice. "Now where is Sgt. Major Ulysses!?!?"

"Yes ma'am," her second in command said, coming back from where he had been wandering outside of the reactor.

"Oh there you are," she said. "Go get some drinks for us. Red wine for me and some ale for my friends here. If we're going to work on this shield together we might as well enjoy ourselves."

"Yes, Commander," said the Sgt. Major and he went off to procure the alcohol she requested.

And true to her word - that she had others do her dirty work for her - she pulled up a metal chair and sat upon it, crossing her lean uniformed legs and sat like a monarch on a throne to watch the men continue to wrestle with the power cables.

One was honestly only needed. Sylvanan cast a wary look Kyle's way. Clearly the loyal type, but did he possess the capacity for independence? A good question; one the Arkanian would mull over on his trip to Ession. There he would continue to craft the Grand Plan as he had come to call it. Each success made was another step forward, and at this point, they were sprinting.

"Don't move." He ordered, flicking the generator's primer twice. It have an audible click, and the blue ready light on the device's side lit up. Sylvanan did not wait to ask if the others were ready.

He punched in the authorization code. The generator rumbled like a waking beast. The flow of electricity was instant. It flowed through the cables, and the bronze cable that Kyle held down would lock in place. Outside, a the shield spread across the sky, an almost transparent sheathe over the facility. A slight distortion in the sky was all that was visible of the shield.

"Well, I'd say that was a a success." He looked over to Kyle. "You didn't die did you?"
