The K-13 is mainly an assault rifle, where the need for a nice rate of fire can make a difference on the battlefield. The weapon is heavily favoured by military types, but the occasional bounty hunter, merc, or pirate can find some use for it. However, because of it's weight some will find the weapon to be to heavy for them; turning away people in the professions like basic bodyguards for political members or for people who are employed as personal bodyguards.
One of the major attractions for the assault rifle is the material that was used to create it. It has both Dallorian and Duravlex, which makes it highly resistant to heat and other high temperatures. The Turadium platting on the barrel prevents it from being cut through easily; even from a lightsaber. The K-13 is extremely accurate for a weapon of this caliber, making it deadly.
However, it does have it's drawbacks; such it's lack of punching power. It can not penetrate most armours in the very early going, but with its fully automatic capabilities it can break down armour; but it is time consuming, which can be hazardous to the owner of the weapon in the middle of a firefight. The weapon has a nasty recoil, couple that with it's weight, can knock down the holder if they are not properly braced or balanced to fire the weapon. In other words, there is no 'shooting from the hip' or 'one handed shooting' with this weapon; two hands are needed, and possibly a shoulder to brace it on.
