SPECIAL FEATURES

• Pistol Grip Reload System: Because the DL-45 expends power cells much quicker than its contemporaries the designers at BlasTech sought to create a faster reload system and they took a page from slugthrowers and put the power cell in the pistol grip to facilitate quick and intuitive reloads
• Ambidextrous Controls: In order to make the DL-45 comfortable and effective for all shooters the pistol is fitted with a set of ambidextrous controls, making it also theoretically possible to dual wield a pair of them as well but this has been strongly discouraged by BlasTech
• Stun Bolt Setting: In an attempt to market the DL-45 to a larger audience that might need something non-lethal a stun-setting was added to it which is activated by toggling a selector switch on the frame of the pistol
• Targeting Scope: Given the DL-45’s longer than average range compared to its contemporaries it was decided to add a simple 1-3.5x magnification targeting scope mounted on the frame
• Backup Iron Sights: While the DL-45 is intended to be used with its equipped targeting scope it was agreed upon that a pair of backup iron sights would be beneficial in case of damage to the scope or simply personal preference

STRENGTHS

• More than a Man Stopper: The design team at BlasTech overcharged the DL-45 to produce a very powerful blaster bolt capable of stopping even some of the larger sentients and non-sentients in the galaxy
• Rugged, Reliable and Sturdy: The DL-45 is a solidly and sturdily built pistol with much care being taken to make it well built, unsubstantiated claims even state this it can be dropped from a height of over twenty meters and still fire accurately

WEAKNESSES

• More Power, Less Ammo: As is typical with blasters that have powerful bolts the DL-45 has a very low power cell capacity, only managing 25 bolts per power cell
• A Little on the Heavy Side: In order to safely contain the power behind the DL-45’s very powerful bolts a lot of reinforcing of critical components was needed, making it heavier than its contemporaries

DESCRIPTION
Looking to add another product to their already extensive weapons catalog the team at BlasTech Industries began work on a new project. After collating research and marketing data they decided to produce a spiritual success to their popular, in its time, DL-44 Heavy Blaster Pistol which they named the DL-45.

Upon its introduction the DL-45 was a hit with everyone who purchased it. It was quickly adopted by planetary defense forces, local constabularies and even a few interplanetary government militaries and with its popularity in legitimate circles it also drew the illegitimate crowds and became equally popular with smugglers, pirates and cartels.

This was however in 811 ABY and since then the DL-45 has been largely replaced in the inventory of both worlds by more modern pistols. Despite this the DL-45 still has a cult following among many who see it for what it is, a rugged and reliable pistol that is capable of stopping just about anything the user might come up against.

In recent years the DL-45 has seen somewhat of a revival and as such BlasTech has begun another production run of them. Many previous/current users have complained they are not as well built as before but many still say that they’re just as well built if not more due to many rediscovered and new invented manufacturing techniques. In all the DL-45, both new and old models, will continue to serve users well into the future.
