SPECIAL FEATURES

The Blackhide Armour is coated with Reflec, a polymer that makes the wearer hard to pick up on most sensors, almost impossible. This does not render the soldier invisible and is not comparable to a dedicated stealth suit, but significantly increases the ability of the soldier to evade detection. Use of the shields negates this feature. The armour also possesses a camouflage coating that adapts to the environment the wearer finds themselves in.

The suit is designed for cyborgs and droids in mind. As a result, it features extensive protection against common machine weaknesses in form of Reinforced Duraplast plating, a Copper Faraday Cage and Combat De-Ionizer and Ionization Buffer. These provide solid protection, though not immunity, against ion, electrical and EMP attacks.

The suit can also interface with cybernetics. The suit is commonly equipped with a Paragon-class Personal Energy Shield (purchase request here, permission here) and has an Arbiter Combat Helmet. A Sky-Strike Miniature Jump Pack (purchase request here, permission here) with a dual power cell is commonly mounted on the armour, but can be removed or replaced by a different model.

Aside from the aforementioned, the armor features comparable technology to other similar line models produced by other governments in the galaxy up to galactic standard and codes in terms of software, uses, and durability.

Strengths:
  • While it does not make the user invisible like a personal cloaking device would, the Reflec coating makes them very hard to pick up on sensors.
  • The Duraplast materiel and gadgets ensures the suit is good at absorbing and resisting blasters and other plasma based weapons, thereby granting the wearer solid protection. It also has a high resistance to kinetic attacks.
  • Good protection against ion, electricity and EMP due to various items and the use of Reinforced Duraplast.
Weaknesses:
  • Vulnerable in the joint areas: Like with any suit there are gaps where the armour plating is weaker. Bladed weapons are particularly effective at injuring the wearer by striking at the joint areas, such as armpits, elbows, knees and wrists, though the neck has some additional protection.
  • Sonic/concussion. The armour is less adept at resisting direct attacks of sonic energy waves and hard sound.
  • Cannot resist full on impacts from lightsabres, only glancing blows.
  • Use of the shields negates the Reflec's sensor-blocking.
DESCRIPTION

The armour represents one of the first products of Revenant Industries. It can be sold on the market, but is primarily designed to equip Enyo Typhos' elite forces. These largely consist of droids and cyborgs. It quickly became the standard suit of the Eisenkrieger, her elite corps of cyborg mercenaries. After Enyo assumed control of Archangel, she used her expanded resources to overhaul and upgrade the suit. Business deals with ArmaTech enabled her to add new gadgets that would help the wearer and increase their chances of survival. Enyo's personal life style is extremely austere. While she has become extremely wealthy, she spends very little on herself. Most of her net income is invested in her group. This has enabled her to equip her minions fairly well.

The suit was inspired by the armour worn by the old Galactic Empire's Death Troopers, which is why it incorporates Reflec to make it more difficult to detect the wearer. The Reflec coating provides it with sensor blocking technology, which negates most sensors from picking them up. This does not make the user invisible though, but is still very useful on missions. It is pertinent to note that when the shields are active, the reflec is negated. But then shields are meant for combat, reflec for scouting and infiltration. The reflec also allows the camouflage paint to adjust to the terrain the trooper is in, say from desert to forest in a matter of minutes. It is still only a paint, but helpful.

All in all, the armour represents a compromise between stealth, agility and defence. Like with the old Clone Commando suits, Duraplast is used to provide solid to decent protection against a variety of attacks. It is reinforced to protect the wearer against the common hazards of cyborgs and droids, namely ion, EMP and electrical discharges. As with common stromtrooper armour, the wearer is well-protected against slugthrowers, unless they are of the armour-piercing or high-calibre variant, or they hit the body glove or visor lenses.

Likewise, the chest portion of the torso is the most protected, providing the greatest protection against blaster fire, bullets, flames, various corrosives and piercing. This area contains ablative armour that is capable of absorbing a full-on blaster shot that would otherwise penetrate. An energy shield enhances protection against slugthrower and blaster attacks. A jet/jump pack can be mounted on the armour's backplate. Weapons' systems can be mounted on the suit and replaced with ease, as there are slots on each arm.

It possesses the standard systems one would expect from a suit of armour in this day and age: Comm unit, rebreather, environmental seal, HUD, filters to protect the wearer against airborne toxins, utility belt and so on. Models made for droids will obviously forego a rebreather, air tanks etc. The combat de-ionizer and ionization buffer provide a defence against ion and electrical attacks. It is also strong against EMP.

Like stormtrooper armour, the suit can protect the user from extreme heat and cold and allow them to operate in virtually any environment, including space. A power armour-liner provides increased resistance to kinetic and energy weapons, reducing the chance of knock down and providing resistance to heat, fire, cold, corrosives, and poisons. The last is obviously not relevant for droids. If need be, the boots can be magnetised, allowing the user to anchor themselves to the surface they are standing on. This can enable a space walk or make it a bit more difficult to toss the wearer with telekinesis.

Naturally the armour has its downsides. While Duraplast is a good material, its protection against lightsabres is only average. Glancing blows can be resisted, but direct, heavy impacts can cut through it. Moreover, while the armour does a good job resisting small arms blaster fire, heavy weapons such as laser cannons, thermal detonators, missiles, artillery and so on will easily penetrate the armour.

Needless to say the suit does not provide protection against Force attacks that bypass conventional armour. In conclusion, it is a flexible, versatile suit of armour that provides good protection and some customisation options. However, it does not reach the level of a true stealth suit or one made of lightsabre-resistant alloys such as phrik, beskar etc.
