Faction Black Water (SJC)

Kattada, an ocean world with lush beaches, Damian loved it. Previously he helped Kyra here convalesce after her rather unpleasant injury. That of course was stating, if not understating, it lightly. Still the planet was pleasant enough and Damian saw potential. With a little funding, some pulled permits, and dealings with a rather obnoxious bureaucrat, he’d begun construction.

For whatever reason Damian was always attracted to the sea, the oceans, the lakes and ponds, and even swamps of the galaxy be they called fen or marsh. It was water that drew him. And of course Coren was setting up a little solar station of some sort. Damian couldn’t let that stand.

The station itself was a thousand meters underwater, sitting at the edge of a dormant volcano. Struts held it up over the ground and over the near molten lava. The geothermal tap station, or rather seven of them, were arranged around the various volcanic vents and helping to relieve pressure and stabilize the area. The power produced was enough to power a small continent when done right.

Yes, the geothermal power plant was operating at full capacity and was impressive however that wasn’t all he put down on the oceans bottom. A full research facility with enough habitation to qualify it as a small settlement had been constructed as well. Oceonographers, biologists, geologists and any other sort of high IQ boy would be able to find space under the surface to ply their trade and test their theories with room for a small general store, and even space and facilities for family. The Chase Waters Aquatic research Station would be a small wonder in the world of science.

Of course this was the serious side of the facility. Even further down the pipe, literally there was a pipe connecting several of the various facility sections, was something else, a full visitor center with entertainment and amusements for the whole family. The concept was the frivolous would help fund the serious, and after Damians ‘acquisition’ of Brightstar Entertainment Group there was plenty of frivolity in his life.

Of course no one had moved in yet, only a small skeleton crew finishing up construction and a few guests for a soft opening were in the visitors area.

Damian was in the recreation section, a series of gyms, theaters, and other like intended facilities including a proper pool, giving the place a final inspection. It was the sort of thing you did when you were close to opening suddenly getting more personally involved.

Damians eyebrow quirked looking to his side. Brooke Waters, an apt name, was with him. When he’d asked if anyone wanted to come it was for relaxation and educational purposes, not to be a spy for his ‘Uncle’ Coren. Of course it shouldn’t have surprised him that she was here, she was after all a one time employee of Brightstar, probably one of the people that kept the company afloat under Marek.

Maybe putting her name on the facility wasn’t the best idea.

“So what do you think?” he asked turning to the woman.

The fact that Kattada was being settled was definitely something she happy with. The blonde hybrid was more than happy to get off the ice of Eira Pechal, and she knew that she was supposed to help with the Praxeum, but maybe if Coren got his way and started the Temple here, she could move the Praxeum and join it with the Order, well, keep it separate but use the same campus. She knew the Starchasers were the explorers, maybe the oceans took a bit more of the wanderlust and made something of it. She smiled though as she was given the chance to help with this station.

She was wearing a new armor, made by Chase Fashion, more leathers, aquatic in nature, and imbued by the Jedi working with Starchaser’s workshop. It would keep her safe and protected as she went about everything, including fighting. It would adapt to be able to give her more protection from the temperature, but it’d also give her the chance to move easily. But working here, with Damian? He had a few ideas and the weight of the Bright Star and a few other companies behind him.

Working under the water? It would allow them to try new forms of energy, new forms of technology that could assist so many more people. And with what Coren had as a vision, what he shared with her? Perhaps it could work. Standing besides Damian, she smiled. “This place is wonderful. I think it can really be the core of something great on this planet. Energy for what it really needs. And maybe… clean energy too?”

"I'm glad you agreed to let me come. I sometimes feel that there is an issue with our communication." She shrugged, her blonde hair partially braided, a few corals from her clan in it. She smiled.

Being back on Kattada wasn't something Caden expected.

He had served in the hospitals after Yurb, and as a consequence he hadn't had time to truly explore the planet. He knew it had oceans on it, beaches and amazing views, but he hadn't had time to see any of it due to trying to save the life of his now master.

They had downtime after Mygeeto, the first downtime that Okkeus Dainlei Okkeus Dainlei and Caden had been able to have since Yurb. Everything had been so full on since they'd bonded as Master and Padawan. It was nice to take some time out and just relax.

Think about life.

Caden was sure that he and Okkeus would be busy soon. He knew that the Jedi Knight was interested in his past and so Caden had agreed to take him to Corellia at some point, to his family home. That was next on the list, he was sure that was the next destination.

Caden walked the beach slowly.

At his side was his lightsaber, the one he had crafted himself on Mygeeto. He had poured so much into the blade, seen his true worst fears. It was an experience he never wished to live out again. He had hated everything that happened in that cave and wished he could burn that cave to the ground.

He knelt besides the water, reaching down. The water ran past his fingers, calming him and grounding him. He couldn't allow himself to feel angry, it wasn't the Jedi way. He'd been taught to suppress anger and fear and not give into them as they were paths to the darkside of the force.

He got up, wiping his now damp hand against his leg. There was a presence in his vicinity, one he hadn't felt since the camping adventures. It was a Starchaser through and through. A lot of him really hoped it was the Starchaser he knew, the cool uncle of the Starchasers.

Damian.

Caden walked slowly across the beach, following the force presence and the directions of the force. He wondered why Damian would have traveled out to Kattada. True, it was now under Concord protection, but it wasn't under threat or anything. Unless Damian was just clearing his head.

The feeling was strange, like it was coming from below. Caden continued walking, just trusting in the force. It was only when he approached some transports he got slightly concerned. He figured he'd take them, the force was telling him Damian was very much located at the end and what was the worst that could happen?

They let him board a transport pretty easily when he explained he was with Damian Starchaser. It almost confirmed his theory that the presence he was feeling was absolutely Damian. The transport ride down was nothing if not dull, but Caden really wanted to know who he was sensing.

He stepped from the transport, and smiled.

He saw them.

It was certainly Damian, Caden wouldn't have mistaken the man for anyone else. Besides him was another figure he recognized, though his memories with her were hazy through the drinking and the strippers. He hadn't seen Brooke since Nar Shaddaa, he hadn't anticipated seeing her again so soon.

So he walked over, and gave the respectful bow.

"Master Starchaser, Miss Waters. What brings you both to Kattada? I assume it has something to do with being so deep under the sea?"

Kattada was a place Rune Darra could say he liked. It felt right being here though he truly couldn't say he remembered Mon Calamari. He'd even kicked off his boots and let the sand run between his toes for a little while. The crash of the waves and the salt air brought a happy sigh from him.

It marked another destination ticked off on his starmap. He'd amassed a number of them since being knighted. Travel had always appealed to him even as a young lad. Cities, less so, but places like this...well, they made it worth it.

The people he met also made it worth it. Some less savoury characters, but usually ordinary beings with good hearts. He made his way over to the others gathered. He politely inclined his head towards Damian Starchaser Damian Starchaser and greeted the others.

"I'd heard about certain underwater facilities here. I hope they're as benign as they look."

That was it. Damian looked over at the woman and narrowed his eyes. Was she a trap? Regardless of the answer his ‘uncle’ Coren seemed to trust her and even if she was in his employ probably spying on him he knew Coren’s judgement wasn’t completely faulty.

Damian stopped and stared at her for awhile. There was a time when he’d imagine himself in his formative years acting suave and debonair around the woman trying to impress. Those times had passed. One too many pretty faces had turned out to have rotten wroth interiors.

He wished for Kyra’s empathic abilities at this moment, while he could sense no real deception or intent of harm from the woman he was a very poor user of the force. What he lacked in force powers he generally made up for with analytics.

Head swimming Damian reached for the flask in his pocket and procured it while taking a drink. The woman had an impassive look, her eyes looked into his when they talked, didn’t look up or away or do anything that would suggest she was lying. Her body language wasn’t particularly uncomfortable. She was either genuine or well trained. “Alright,” Damian said after a swig was taken. The direct method it was. His own facial feature stayed neutral not displaying any emotion as he concentrated on the task at hand. “Right so you want better communication? Why don’t you tell me what you did for Marek?”

Maybe he’d been too polite to have done this in the past but now he wanted answers. He opened up his mouth to ask about the drug operation when he heard Caden behind him. His mouth shut as he turned to the youth. “Welcome to the Chase Waters Deep Sea Oceanic Research laboratory and Aquatic fun center.” he cleared his throat, “We’re still workshopping the name. Perhaps two separate names for the two joint facilities. Either way, welcome everyone!”

The Mon Calamari was a new face for him, “You’re welcome to peruse the facility at your leisure.” he stepped forward and extended a hand, “Damain Starchaser,” he introduced. “This is Miss Brooke Waters, and Mr. Caden Evesa.” He indicated to the two fellow blondes appropriately at their names. “I assure you this facility is designed to be environmentally friendly and ecologically aware in both its power generation, research, and entertainment purposes.”

Brooke was more than happy to be working with Damian. She wasn’t really here to watch him, maybe at the beginning, but she was the one who was helping with a lot of paperwork. It meant assisting Kaia a bit, and well, running what she could still access of Bright Star. She was technically Damian’s employee. Well, she thought she still was. The Witch shook her head as the others were approaching. She had her trident with her, but she also carried a lightsaber, one that she had learned to make with a bit of training from the Jedi, it helped her with the Praxeum students.

Looking over at Damian, she grinned. “I was the public face. Especially in the latter years when he was… doing his stuff.” She shook her head. “Managing, and making sales. Apparently, I’m a pretty face.” She fluttered her eyelids and smirked.

The first arrival was a face she knew. A small grin as he called her ‘Miss Waters.’ “Hey kid, hows the head?” Sure, he followed her but maybe she should have stopped him, but she wasn’t the kid’s mother. He could make his own choices. And Jedi had to learn to do Jedi things. Wasn’t her fault that she was the one learning him on the way adults worked and did business.

“We’re doing some work. I know there is talk of a Jedi Temple on the world going up too.” The witch smiled at the Mon Cal. “A few different ideas on this planet, for sure.”

It really looked like he was following the blonde girl.

In reality he wasn't. He had gone to Kattada via Mygeeto, it just happened to be entire luck that the two had been planet side at the exact same time as him. It was almost like the will of the force, apparently the force had been known to put people in the same place at the same time if needed.

She asked about his head and he almost couldn't help but grimace. The day after Nar Shaddaa had been an absolute killer, his head hadn't stopped hurting and the scalding from Okkeus Dainlei Okkeus Dainlei hadn't been worth it. He knew full well he wouldn't be drinking again, drinking hurt.

"It was incredibly sore the day after."

He smiled, presuming that the building they were in was nothing short of a top of the line science facility. Damian all but confirmed this when talking to the Mon Calamari Jedi. The building was entirely considerate of the environment as well, which Caden supported.

"Aquatic Fun Center, huh?"

The Mon Calamari Jedi was a face Caden didn't recognize. He was glad Damian had introduced both him and Brooke. All he needed to do was nod along when the Jedi Master said his name. He adjusted his robes slowly and looked around once again.

"Well, it's the perfect planet for an underwater science center. How you intend to make it a fun center though, I'm highly interested."

"I guess this place works," he replied with a shrug "I mean, Tatooine wouldn't do for a water park."

There seemed to be a little unease between Damian Starchaser Damian Starchaser and Brooke Waters Brooke Waters and he didn't know why. Then again, he was an unfamiliar face to many Jedi. He'd spent quite some time traveling to far-flung locations. Rune hadn't met many from his Order on the back-rocket planets.

It seemed like Caden Evesa Caden Evesa had a few too many recently. The Mon Cal winced in sympathy. There had been a few sore heads for himself the morning after. Not the best way to wake up.

"Seeing as we're all here, are we gonna go check out these places?"

An amusement park would be a lot more fun than dealing with a den of bandits. Or a wampa in it's cave. Or an angry cabal of Dark Side cultists. At least his days weren't usually boring....

Damian looked between Rune and Caden and back at Brooke once more. This wasn't exactly how he pictured the commissioning of the place to go exactly but there was worse scenarios. Questions swirled into his mind, the relationship between Caden and Brooke reeked of something improper, but there was a time and a place and that time and place wasn't here. Better to handle such matters more privately, besides who was he to judge? He'd thrown padawans out of spaceships and gotten them drunk all in the name of teaching them a lesson. Lessons like how not to get drunk and make sure your chute opens. Important lessons, but somehow his mind went to the most negative place with Brooke despite the fact that, past associations not withstanding, she had proven herself somewhat trustworthy.

“So predominantly this place is meant for research,” Damian said looking over at Brooke, “however we want this place to be self sufficient, or at least as self sufficient as we can. Botany labs for supplemental food sources and research, generating its own power, and generating it’s own funds. To that end,” Damian said with a sigh, “we intend to open a visitors center. A place where people can come and visit maybe take a ride on a mini sub.”

Thinking for a moment and staring at the youth he started to trundle along the corridor. “Of course I’m thinking of adding an aquarium, to go along with the restaurants, clubs, and hotel. Maybe add a casino, something modest for adults but this place is meant to be family fun, not catering to the more...” he stopped for a moment and spared a glance at Brooke, “Well it’s meant to be family friendly.”

Brooke was always more than happy to have a fan club, the boy was a bit young for her but whatever, it was nice. Still, she was more here for what the Starchaser family was doing to the world. She had a … looser definition of the Force and ones side on it, but she was here to do the best for people. It was what she felt she could do. Help with improving their lives, and the Jedi, well, most times she agreed with them. Other times, she had to sue an alias and it got her work done. One that was linked in with Marek Starchaser pretty firmly.

“That’ll happen, kid you’ll get used to it.” She rolled her eyes as she looked between the rest of the gathered. She looked at the Mon Cal and grinned. She felt bad for their people. She had heard what the Alliance in Exile had done, they went and fought on the planet, evacuated some families and set them up on worlds in the Outer Rim. Maybe Kattada could be set up for that as well. Looking at Damian and Rune and Caden, she nodded.

“I know a few people who wouldn’t be opposed to buying the energy too. I know they have plans for the world, to help update its infrastructure, maybe this could assist in that too. Make it the center for a new movement. Maybe in the galaxy!” She smiled a bit. “I mean, its better than anything Marek ever did already!”

Caden looked towards Brooke gently.

She was speaking about people he didn't know and actions he didn't know. He had heard her mention Marek before however, and while he didn't know of his exact actions he knew that they weren't positive and that if he ever came across a man named Marek he should probably run the opposite direction.

"Selling the power huh, making the planet an actual force for good"

He couldn't lie, it was actually a pretty good idea. He liked the idea of building up the planet and making it the center for a new movement. He liked the idea of putting a temple on the planet, powering the planet through underwater, green energy sources and otherwise just making Kattada a good place to be.

"And what movement though Miss Waters, that's the question?"

Rune looked from Damian Starchaser Damian Starchaser to Brooke Waters Brooke Waters and then to Caden Evesa Caden Evesa and decided he didn't want to know.

"Ok, so...what's next?"

He genuinely hoped they could see the water park. They were so much nicer than spice dens. Or dungeons. Or the nests of various predator like Krayt Dragons.

Sometimes there were no predators within. Just lots of bones. Less chance of being eaten but still quite unpleasant.

Damians eye didn’t twitch at the mention of Marek from Brooke but the urge was there. There was just something about the man whom he shared a face that left a gutteral negative reaction to. Of course now was not the time to dwell on introspection. “Miss Waters can get a bit excited,” Damian replied. “She might be overstating things a bit.” Then again the way Coren wanted to add projects on top of projects to the place it was no wonder she might get a 'bit excited'.

This of course brought to mind her association with his persnickety 'kind of cousin', Coren. The relationship that was as of yet undefined. Was she an underling? Lover? He wouldn’t have put it past the man. Either way she was sent at least once to monitor him, as if he were the problem.

His com beeped indicating a message. He picked up the device and scanned it quickly seeing a message. Brooke sent him a selfie. Now his eye did twitch. “Right so I bet you all want to see the water park area next? Leave all the boring science bits for later?”

Token always had a few ideas for making money. Some of them helpful, some of them not so much. After being released, of sorts, from Marek’s service, well, that made her life a lot more easier to handle, and gave her more of a purpose. Working for the other side of the Starchaser clan seemed to be about her speed, helping people and directing more… altruistic ends. Of course, she’d have to win the trust of Damian, she suspected. The boy… man… was more her speed than Coren. She could babysit Jedi all day but it didn’t do anything for her.

“The kind that we can bring new and clean power around galaxy, using this world as a testbed…” She shrugged as her gaze went from Caden to the others. Having the Mon Cal here was definitely a good sign, but when Damian spoke, she couldn’t help but lose a touch of her smile. But well, she had a way to try to distract the other other Starchaser.

A quick shot from a few days ago.

“Water park isn’t a bad idea. But I’m also interested to see all the workings.” Because of course she was.

He wasn't surprised there was a water park.

It was the most Damian Starchaster sounding thing he had ever heard about. He wasn't one for water parks himself, he could take or leave playing in them. He remembered vaguely how much he enjoyed them as a child yet as he got older he had gone off of them.

He was much like Brooke in that way, he would rather have seen the inner workings. He was a Corellian, he wanted to see how everything worked. It was much the same reason he built two droids, cause he liked learning how things worked, and seeing how they worked.

"What is the overall goal with Kattada?"

He looked between the trio. He liked the idea of using the world as a test to see how possible it would be to bring clean energy to every planet in Concord space. The amount of good they could do with that would be impressive, would save many lives.

"I agree with Miss Waters, I'd like to see the inner workings"
