Black Tomorrow (PM for Invite)

Yes, there was a stereotype for Sith, and many would say Saiah fell quite in he middle of it. She often appeared dark and broody, and only amused with the macabre. The kind of person who would kill you and stab you over and over just for the fun and reputation. Sure, her mind was preoccupied with murder more than one would consider healthy, but it was a product of her upbringing. Not only desensitized to, but hooked on violence.

The other girls of the Covenant, however, seemed to actively shatter the stereotype with a high-heeled boot and dance on its remains. It was refreshing, not unlike the cocktail in her hand. Perhaps she did have to relax more, dance a little. When was the last time she danced? She could hardly remember. Perhaps the intake of alcohol was just too great on that occasion.

"I'm Saiah, delighted to meet you."

She smiled back at [member="Sitara Qin"], or Tara as she had introduced herself. She also observed [member="Melori Raaf"] swaying to the music. The way she seemed so comfortable and uninhibited was quite alien to Saiah who was deep down a little uncomfortable with merriment.

At the back of her mind was a conversation. Not one that had happened. Or at least, not one that had played out in real-life. So far it had only occurred in her mind.

It was one where she faced Darth Venefica and confirmed she knew what had happened to her former Master – it was definitely in the past tense now. And the raid on the Sith Assassins’ base confirmed what she already suspected – knew in her heart.

But moreover she needed to confess her true identity – if it wasn’t already apparent. And at the same time she planned to ask for a new Master. The Sith Lord herself. So perhaps the current entertainment was a way to procrastinate? Maybe. But if you’re going to put off an onerous task, what better way could there be?

People pigeon-holed Jedi as all goody-goody and boring. Which of course they were. Without exception. But Tae- her former Master had shown her that Sith came in a lot of different colours and sometimes even stripes. It had blown away her notion of what a Sith was. Deep down they were people – just people with a lightsaber and an uncanny ability to kill you if they felt like it. Which they often did.

They were like perennial teenagers without any parental restriction. And what did teenagers like to do? Party!

Early in her time with the One Sith she’d been guarded. To the point where she talked to no-one. Was she taking a risk by being so trusting? You bet, but she figured it was a risk worth taking. She could die tomorrow. So better to enjoy yourself tonight, eh?

She nodded to Saiah whilst taking a large swig of the cocktail in her hands. “Give in to your passions…you’re a Sith aren’t you?” There was no malice in her voice, rather it was encouragement. “Just not anger or hatred, OK?” And she laughed. For the first time in a very long time she laughed, and it appears she couldn’t stop.

“Sorry…” she finally said as the giggles abated. “It wasn’t funny, it was just…” and the giggles started again. So she set her drink down and threw herself into the music, her dancing part balletic and the remainder contemporary.

Saiah actually chuckled at the joke, and actually had to cough a little after. Did she really chuckle that rarely? Perhaps she had been infected by the brooding mood of the stereotypical Sith. Well this would not stand. Yes, Saiah would take merriment head on, and gulped down the rest of her drink before snatching another glass from a passing tray.

"Herecy~"

She giggled back at [member="Melori Raaf"]. Saiah's reply was at least as bad as the original joke, but it mattered not. The sudden gulp of alcohol combined with the giggling broke her a little, as she fell into a fit of laughter. Saiah struggled to keep her new drink from spilling, and when her laughter quieted down, she absorbed it in a few quick gulps. She was ready to try her hand at the dance floor.

A Sith fears nothing, why should Saiah fear to dance? It was a task like any other, and Saiah only had one way of doing things, and if she were to dance, she would dance as if she had life on the line. Her eyes picked up tidbits of dance for her to copy and blend, and with her form II experience she made it fluent and tidy. Every move she saw, she made her own. While a little awkward at first, she soon fell into it just as easily as she did with a new practice drill.

Under the watchful eye of Dr. Soita, she carefully withdrew a small sample from the vial and even more carefully placed it on a slide then covered the specimen with a slide cover. She placed the slide under the microscope and leaned down to peer at it. Several microscopic organisms shaped like tiny worms were moving about in the fluid. Darth Venefica was immediately fascinated by what she saw.
"What are those worm-like organisms?"
"That is what we are unsure of. My team and I have never come across the likes of them before," Dr. Soita answered. "But allow me to show you something interesting."
He added his own sample of the fluid to another slide, then from another vial took a small drop from it adding it to the slide. He placed the slide under another microscope, adjusted the viewing size, and finally took a step back; gesturing for the Sith Lady to look at it. When she did, she saw the worm-like organisms undergo a drastic change. They turned a pinkish colour and began to multiply quickly, while becoming extremely active.
"What did you add to make them like this?"
"A single drop extracted from the black orchid plant."
"Fascinating," she replied still looking at the lively worms. "Have you tested this on anything yet?"
"Not yet. But we can now."

Melori felt that nagging thought again - it wouldn't let her rest and so, once the merriment was in full swing she slipped away for a while. Only a short while she told herself. Once she'd spoken to [member="Darth Venefica"], she would return and enjoy the party. She felt she deserved it.

But the truth deserved her more at the moment. Actually it demanded she dealt with what was on her mind and in her heart. No amount of wishful thinking would make it go away and procrastinating was pointless. So she made her way from the music and towards the sterile environment of the bas where eventually she saw the Sith Lord.

She approached her slowly and allowed the current conversation to end naturally before she spoke. Whatever was happening, it appeared to be important and for a split second she considered coming back later - but her resolve held and she remained stationery.
