Description:

The Black Rain artillery shell is a round made to cause horrific and terrifying damage upon soft targets on the battlefield. The shell is rocket assisted and can be fired up to the maximum range allowed by the artillery piece. The shell consists of a booster engine and a forward “head” that houses the containment field that holds the 16 charges in the middle in place. Each of these 16 charges is littered with hundreds of tiny holes that hold 1 inch long and 1 centimeter thick ultrachrome needles.

Each shell is designed to spin while in route and once the unit is 800 feet above the designated target area, the containment field will shut down. After the field is shutdown the charges are systematically launched off the sides of the device. Once these devices are launched from the shell, they are set on a short 4 second fuse and once this fuse is up the thousands of tiny ultrachrome shards are launched from their ports.

The ultrachrome needles exit the charges at 300 meters a second, via small explosive charges. The resulting explosions cause the charges to spin slightly as they launch their payloads in a randomly chosen pattern. The ultrachrome shards are powerful enough to shred through varieties of cover and cut through medium armors. They are also very useful against those wielding lightsabers as the shards are impossible to deflect with a lightsaber. Not only is the power great, but the charges can be spread throughout a large area. However, their main downfall comes in the form of their inaccuracy.

This may be inaccurate. As to how fast the missile is moving and what pitch it is going to fall at. If it is at a steep decline then this would not be possible. A human can fall on earth as 9.81 m/s2 800 feet in a few seconds. As the missile is moving faster than terminal velocity, its not very plausible. If you could raise the height of this start sequence to be at least above 1,000 feet then you will be in the green.
