HISTORICAL INFORMATION
80BBY
Construction of Black Marsh Prison began in the year 80BBY. The Gungans built the prison as a way to contain a dangerous criminal named Nib Nib Jof. Nib Nib was a practitioner of Gungan Magic and was secretly using his powers to hypnotize the young children he taught in school. His ultimate goal was to build a future army of Gungans that would be loyal to him and allow him to takeover the surface dwelling cities of Naboo. When the Gungans learned of Nib Nib's dangerous plots they arrested him and put him in custody, but Nib Nib proved too powerful to contain. He escaped custody and fled the planet, latter returning to try and gain control over the youngsters once more. Upon his second capture the Gungans were uncertain how to contain him and he escaped again. The Gungans put a bounty on Nib Nib and eventually a rogue bounty hunter returned the criminal, who had been carbon frozen to avoid escape. Wary to let Nib Nib out of his frozen chamber, the Gungans constructed a top secret prison to contain his frozen body. The prison became known as Black Marsh Prison because of it's location deep within the Gungan Marshes where little light from the surface penetrated. Fearing that a fanatical follower might try to release Nib Nib, the Boss Gungan declared the prisons existence a guarded secret and entrusted only his closest confident with the information. For years the prison remained undisturbed and Nib Nib was left in his watery cage.

60BBY
As was tradition, the closest warrior that the Boss Gungan trusted the most was told of the prisons existence. This time that Gungan turned out to be a young Force sensative named Pusk who was training with the Jedi. Pusk saw the potential of this secret prison and tried to convince the Boss Gungan that it could be used as a means of holding the galaxies most dangerous criminals. Upon agreement the prison started to contain a few more prisoners, all frozen, but the Gungans were very selective with who they let dwell below. The prison never operated at full capacity. The secret of the prisons existence continued to be passed down selectively through generations, with each generation adding one or two criminals total to the watery detention center.

897 ABY
When the netherworld events happened on Naboo much of the planet was destroyed, including Black Marsh Prison. Those criminals frozen in carbonite were disturbed. Some perished and drowned, while others made it to the surface and escaped, their fates unknown. The prison is now destroyed and empty.
