Sorel Crieff

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
As Orihime offered her more light, Sorel’s eyes cast about the area for anything of interest. In her mind’s eye, she expected something like the Jedi Library. Rows and rows of bookshelves, crammed full of information, all indexed and classified by type.

Here all she could see were databanks. Rows and rows and rows. It was a little anticlimactic, but she wondered if in truth it was her romantic view of the mission that was amiss.

Her hopes were raised when Orihime observed there were smaller rooms of the main area. Perhaps these held holocrons, or flimsies, or even datapads she could hold and access. But she suspected there would simply be more databanks. It was, after all, an efficient way to store information if you had enough to fill an entire planet.

Orihime was looking at her and they had all of the lights when she finally found a computer that she could use. With a look on her face before she was trying to use the interface with a datapad acessing it. They had knowledge how to work with it and knew what they would hopefully be able to get thanks to the Nirvana and the previous work on Gree equipment. She was using the force and her own skills to access it and get the datapad to work as a better interface they would be abel to use here. Unsure what might be able to come until she pushed a few ideas for herself. "There are other sections, we are in the main archives. One of the oldest parts where information about everything is held. From here we can search to the acquisitions areas and there are some small transits we can use to get around the planet."

Sorel knew better than to interfere when Orihime was at work. Her friend was an expert on computer systems and interfacing with alien technology, so she simply kept look-out whilst Orihime’s brows were proverbially furrowed as she worked hard to get her datapad to interface with the Gree equipment.

“So in a sense, this area doesn’t hold any information, it’s more of a database that tells you where to find things. Kind of a large map – pointing you in the right direction.” She whistled softly. “Which means this planet is quite literally a library if this computerised index card is anything to go by.”

Orihie gave her a nod of her head and that explained the vents... this would need cooling. It was the card catalogue as it were where all of the directory information was stored and you could use it to get the information about the locations. Alright she would be able to think about and work with that. There might be something else that they could do here. She was bringing up the information and running it through the translator. "Alright, lets look for a main power room or somewhere that is a central controls at least." She was wanting to find a place that they would be able to get everything set up, operational and improve upon it. Looking over at some of the other things though it was all gravy at least in terms of what they could find when she finished downloading the map and got it. "The library was left in low power mode so we got to get to this control room to activate it. Towards the north from here."

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
Sorel listened to Orihime and nodded at the approach. “Do we need to travel to where the data is stored, or do you think there is a way to recall it here, either remotely or physically? I mean, I can’t imagine travelling around the planet if you needed three different records.”

As she finished speaking, she looked around the room again. “A main power room? I’m not sure where you’d locate it. Probably in a corner somewhere, you’d keep the data rooms near the centre, surely?”

Orihime looke dat her and that was a good point but she imaged there was more to all of it. "Maybe, though we'd likely need the full power to be able to see what they had for getting around or getting the information. Could be just take what you need and find a place to research or like the archives all of it can be accessed from a central area. There might even be a transit system that they were able to use around the library that we are missing in the dark." She was prepared for all of it but getting the directions so they would be abl to find the main power area and start heading off. Orihime took stock of a few others things so that they would be going off to see some more of the library.

Sorel looked around as Orihime spoke. “If I were to create a transport system across an island like this, I’d be most tempted to make it underground. So maybe, if they did travel between sites, they did it via some sort of subway.”

“Or, more likely, they chose to move information as opposed to people. Maybe this links you to every database and you bring the information you need here temporarily. Then you read it, or make a copy, or both – before clearing the memory.”

“Let’s face it, data can move a lot quicker than people.”

Orihime was thinking about making a fat joke... compared Sorel's movements to a hutt or something but she was thinking about it with a small grin on her face. A private joke that she could ue while the jedi was going with it. "Yeah the information would be quicker to move but there is more then likely something that we can use." She stayed there for a moment looking for it and until they had the power they needed they wouldn't be abel to make it work or if they did for very long. Orihime was sending a small drone to go and mark the way toward the power station that both of them could get to. She was heading off and they were leading the way through the rows. "We'll find the power and then a way to move around and if there is time see what they might have here."

Sorel kept looking around. Logic said they were alone. The Force told her they were alone, but there was something about being alone that made you slightly nervous, and that kept you on edge.

But nothing jumped out of the shadows, or dropped on them from the ceiling, so she continued to walk and listen. “I’d be happy with the power on, and not only to access data, full lighting would be a welcome thing too.”

She looked at her with a nod of her head where they might be able to better improve upon it. Getting the lights on would also give them a chance to work on everything here. "We got it and we can see better. There could be anything here on a planet this sized." Orihime smirked to herself though offering a glow rod to Sorel before everything came up on the small screen for herself. From the wrist scanner and display to give them all of the information about the area. She wasn't certain about what they might find as they walked....and they ran... they ran so far way.... Orihime was singing to herself in her own head searching around and scanning when the jedi pair could come across looking at the large control area with all of the wires and pipes coming to it when she entered into the doors. "Alright lets look around for something to maybe be the light switch."

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
Sorel started to wonder out loud. “I was thinking about that ‘anything’ – I know the inhabitants aren’t around anymore, but there must be wildlife. And I was curious to know if any might now be inhabiting the buildings. And given this planet has remained hidden for millennia, I wondered what the previous fauna might have evolved into, given the top of the food chain was no longer around.”

Sorel took the glow rod, appreciating the light. She would use the Force sparingly, not knowing when she might next need to call upon it.

They wandered about and finally came to a room with a lot of wires and ducting – that suggested a lot of power. “It’s as likely to be a power room as anything I guess.”

Orihime looked at her and if they were lucky then the place was sealed up and nothing had been able to gt into here. She was uncertain about all of it when she was looking over. The building had set up here where they could get in, start interfacing and she clacked away to get the power back on as the lights were beginning to flicker when they astarted coming online again. The buzzing sound of the lights, the change as she could look out at the rows upon rows that were being illuminated. "Maybe, though whatever might have been here on the planet or if anything had a way to get in. If the place is completely sealed the local wildlife if it is here would likely be kept out."

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
Sorel had noted there was a musty smell when she’d entered the building. Not a significant one but there was definitely an undercurrent. She hoped this meant that there were no breaches to the walls – for if there had been, she would have expected to have been greeted by fresher air.

But she was still guarded and keen to see what secrets the databases held. The power room was a useful early find and she was hopeful they would soon be in a position to allow the translation software to mesh with the information held here to allow them to perform searches and get a handle on just how much data was stored here.

“I know there is so much to find, but from what little I know, it would be good to learn about their work on self-aware automata.”

Orihime was looking at her where they would be able to go with it. She was uncertain about all of it here, then she was agreeing with Sorel about it. The information about what they had been able to do and make, the information about everything that they would be getting a chance to interface as she moved from the power section down to look around. There were some droids coming around with all of the caretakers and droids that were automated in the facility. She was uncertain about all of them here so that they would be going around. She had prepared herself so that they could get more in the rows and rows of artifacts, tomes, cases of things that were on display and Orihime smile. "Now this is just.... my mother is going to be so jealous."

Sorel was aware of the movement and the Force told her it was inorganic – so at least they did not have to worry about any beasts of prey jumping out on them. At least not immediately.

She smiled and looked at the source of the movement. Droids primarily and they did not look like sentry units but rather maintenance models and she suspected some to do the bidding of the Gree – perhaps fetching and carrying whatever was required.

“Jealous? Perhaps. But given it’s you here and not anyone else, I’m sure she will be as much delighted with your find as she would be envious. Plus, we could never hope to document all of the data here, so she’ll have plenty of time to find things first – some really amazing things no doubt.”

Orihime was looking at her and she knew her mother wouldn't be worried about it . In truth she could think of a few things that might actually make her mother jealous but she knew from experience her mother wouldn't show it. She had resolve and she knew how to let things go. Aside from her daughters and padawan who she could treat in ways like her children she didn't get attached to enough. She was practical and served the lightside of the force itself. Orihime knew about many of the things that they were doing here so they could all go around. With more interest though she was checking out some of the droids when they were moving around and she had a little more attention for Sorel. "Yeah and she'll be happy, we'll have to see what information we can get from here though.

Sorel beamed. In a similar way to Orihime (she suspected) she always wanted to make Matsu proud. There was no vanity involved – Sorel always did what she believed a Jedi should do and never acted on self-interest – but she always expected her actions would meet Matsu’s approval, and a large find like this reflected on her Master’s training and Orihime’s upbringing. Which Sorel found as particularly encouraging at times like these. Invariably, when faced with a dilemma, she would wonder what Matsu would do in the same situation.

It had served her well and she knew it would continue to do so.

“So let’s go and make her happy.” And with that, Sorel could barely restrain her anticipation as she waited for the interface to kick in – given she was in no way proficient at controlling Gree technology – given her physiology and lack of musical talent.

Orihime beamed a little in the light now and going on their way to do this had the scanner running for everything. "Yes lets." She was looking at it and the stacks gave way to tables filled with different artifacts from around the galaxy and she could see some with names of different planets. Pottery, pictures, any sort of thing that could denote history or culture as well as some of the jewelry was on display. "Hmm tis is pretty." Some fo the tables didn't have much but some of them were packed and had several tables for themselves as it looking like it stretched out. Droids on it lightly dusting and mainting the look of the artifacts on the tables themselves with galactic dates and times that went to she was guessing reports and files.

As they walked, Sorel was genuinely surprised – and delighted – to find that the Library was more than just a repository of data. It was in many ways a museum too.

As they approached the tables, she glanced at all of the items of display. Some she recognised whereas other items looked entirely alien to her – which in a way they were.

“This is amazing,” Sorel said. “Our historians would love to see all of these and place them not only in the timeframe of our galaxy but in a spatial region. We may be staring at artefacts from planets and systems that we don’t even know exist. Or that we have only heard of from history books – like this one really. We may be just at the beginning of a spider’s web of discovery.”

Orihime looked at her with a nod of her head to that, they had a lot here that they would be able to look over. They might be able to find out a lot more about some fo the older cultures here. "Yes, there is a lot here, a lot we could use and discover about some of the older places. Amassed over thousands of thousands of years. Hundreds of artifacts that might now hold high value but at the time were gifts given to explorers." She was looking at it and some plates for food were what you gave to friends to show your abilities but some of the things here now could be priceless for history with everything. She looked over at parts they had been doing, parts that they had been setting up before Orihime stood there with the light getting a nod. "Whatever we might have discovered here though pales in comparison to the whole. THis could keep our researchers busy for centuries as they comb over everything."
