Black Lagoon

Looking at Sorel there was a small nod of agreement... though if it was a school a wall to keep the students in and safe was never a bad thing as she walked. "Maybe, most of the places I have seen that were military bases though were not afraid to show their governments symbols." She was looking for something to identify it as a school and maybe not a base though while touching the ground. "Hmm it does look like a place that could be fun to stay at though." There were high walls that could offer protection and shade all day so you wouldn't have to be out in the sun, there was a small area that looked like a park. She moved through into the street looking at it and there was a hover bike while touching it and it was old. She turned her attention up a little to the building as it had script over the doorway and she looked inside. There wasn't much, mostly wooden floors with couches and seats but also some tables and she looked on the wall at pictures of people. She was moving over the different things while holding a banner. "I think it might be something like when the jedi have clans"

Sorel followed Orihime and realised how little she had to reference real-life. She understood Jedi and temples and also people — especially those in need of help or breaking the law. But mundane buildings and streets? She could not fathom their use in any way shape or form.

“Clans? So does that make it a school? I mean, who else would have them?” She wrinkled her nose as she struggled to understand it all.

She gave a look while thinking about it. "Ah maybe, I mean schools should be like the temples and have classes right? So age groups maybe?" She wasn't exactly certain while touching over some of the things and there wasn't much there but the remains of drink cups and a table before she looked over a few of the things. There wasn't much she found a better campus map with other buildings marked in different colors which meant importance she was certain of it or it might mean they ran out of ink... but she was going to go with levels of importance because it made sense while she grabbed it and went to the window. "If this is a school though I wonder what schools for normal human's like us would be like. The temple is very simple compared to this."

Sorel frowned. “I guess they learn subjects like us, just without the Force stuff. History, learning about the galaxy. Science perhaps? Sports? Actually, I have no idea what other subjects. What do non-Force users learn? Flying? Music? Cooking? Practical skills lie engineering? Do they all learn everything or do they specialise?”

She looked at the map Orihime held. “Any ideas what the colours mean? Different ages? Different subjects? Different clans?”

They could mean anything, really the only way to tell while she gave a nod of her head. "Only one way to find out, we go and investigate." She gave a nod of her head while folding up the map carefully so they could go over with all of the things. Looking out the window and checking the bed as it moved like it was water instead of a mattress. "Interesting." Watching all of it for a few moments longer she was more then happy with the idea walking out of the building and going towards the different ones. All in the area where they were the buildings it looked the same with script over some of it before she set out to go with some of the larger buildings. The glass doors of one caked in dust and drit while she wiped some away making a face. "THis looks like one of the places."

“Investigate away,” Sorel said as they left the building they were in and headed outside. Her fellow Padawan led the way and Sorel followed her to one of the larger buildings. “Larger could mean more interesting?” she said quizzically. “I hope so.”

She watched as Orihime wiped the dust off the glass of one of the doors. “What can you see? Any clues as to what it might be?”

"I don't see anything." Se was looking over some of the things while her attention went to opening the doors. They had a lot of stuff inside for sitting but there wasn't a whole lot as she activated the glow rod setting it down. The large glass windows giving a little light while she went through the things. She couldn't find anything interesting but it looked like they had core samples and some sections of rock. "A geology lab maybe. Studying the minerals from the planet." She said it while going over some fo the things and there were crystals as well as ingots of the stone in front of a laser. "Maybe they were cutting it." She shrugged unsure of it but could see the small etchings on the stone while turning the table.

Sorel glanced around. “I know a little about minerals. Maybe there are things here of use to the wider galaxy. If we could access the records and take some samples, who knows what we’ll turn up.”

“And crystals always fascinate me. I wonder what properties these have.” She picked one up and then turned her attention to the laser. “Ooh, I wonder what the markings mean.”

Orihime was watching it as she thought about it. here wasn't just but she could see some buttons while touching it. The lights humming loudly as they flickered above with her thinking about it. The screen came up showing spikes into the ground that were colored red. "Hmm okay I think I am getting it." She was looking at sorel. "Those look like geothermal spikes for tapping into it for power and they might have solar panels for energy and power. Given how open it is that would be a nice place to be for some of the things we can work on." She was guessing but there was some power while she started to work on the machine with it starting up. The laser etching off small pieces from the stone as she waited for it to lift it up and scanned it with her scanners. "No radiation but it is taking a lot of heat... This is going hotter then most of the things I have seen." The small capsule it created she was able to observe. "It is giving off a lot of energy though from the shard." She watched taking the small piece in the capsule to test out later though leaving it in a secure case. They had crystals in another room she could see creating a stealth field while speaking. "I think it is a stealth crystal."

Sorel had a healthy interest in technology — but ships and droids were the main areas of her focus. Wider science was interesting but she was hardly an expert. Unlike her Master and — it seemed — her best friend was also blessed with a depth of knowledge on things scientific.

She listened and learned before she could contain her curiosity no longer. “Do you mean like Stygium? And can it be adapted in the same way. Could enough of them allow me to cloak my ship for example?” She raised an eyebrow expectantly. She so much wanted the answer to be yes, although it would then provide a new challenge. How.

"Yes it could be." she was looking it over and heading towards the other room to look at the crystal. Her interest in technology was the same as her mothers because it was something you could use to advance knowledge. Entire archives and libraries in a datapad was easier to organize in situations then going through tomes for a couple of things. She liked the idea of some of the technology though walking with Sorel to show her interest. "Stygium would be a great thing to find on this world. It could also explain reasons why we can't detect anything The crystal blocks conventional sensors and force users can use it to hide from the senses of others."

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
Sorel listened. Some of what Orihime said made perfect sense and some went over her head. She smiled and shook her head simultaneously. “I get it, I think. Our sensors are being blocked by these crystals, right? So if we had enough of them, we could make a ship or a person invisible to scanners, and are you saying the Force too?”

"Sometimes, a force user using them can increase their abilities with stealth. One of the jedi knights did that with two in her sabers so she could walk past others." She said it and there were reports from her mother about Asha before the padawan checked the crystals seeing them. "These though if they are on the planet could be invaluable." her smile on her face touching some of it before she watched the screens. There were more labs and cases of different crystals. "I think they might have been experimenting with the properties of the crystals. THey might have found force snesitive ones like on Ilum or Dantooine. Maybe some unique like on Rhen Var.

Sorel’s interest was more than piqued, it was hyperventilating. She listened and drunk in the knowledge as greedily as she could and then began to look around the laboratory. Datapads, flimsies, crystals, anything she could find she placed into her shoulder bag.

“I wonder what the odds are for finding a brand new type of crystal? I mean I’m not expecting anything special but to identify even a rare crystal here would be an amazing find, yes?”

"If we found a new crystal it could be something noteworthy within the jedi but you never know. Some of the rarest crystals have origins that were never known or discovered. This could be one of the planets where an ancient jedi found some crystal and it is out there in the galaxy." She said it with a shrug of her shoulders though while going about exploring some of it. "This crystal if there is more of it we might be able to use for any number of things same as the stone." Orihime was more then happy to work with some of those things before she was pushing off with the force energies throughout the building to see if she could feel anything else. She was taking some of the samples of crystal as well as the datapad for looking at later.

Sorel knew about crystals and saber crystals in particular — but despite her knowledge, she’d not tried to use any of the many she’d picked up along the way in a saber. She’d found an affinity for them and was in no rush to change — but this experience made her wonder if she was missing out.

“For me it’s about the connection, not any particular properties. So I’m not looking for anything personally. But something that might benefit the Jedi? I’d like that. As long as we take enough samples, I’m sure someone can analyse what we find, yes?”

She gave a nod ot that and yes crystals were an important thing to work with as she moved touching her saber. "Yeah, the crystalds I used in my blade with a couple others. All I found over awhile and some of the things like the special lens." She had found the crystal giving it the blue shifting shaded color with a small look from when she and her sister had been very young. her sister had gotten one as well and now as Orihime was walking she started to work on it and found something that looked important. One of the rooms had a shelf on it and opening the book. "I think I found it." She wasn't certain but it looked like an alphabet and more then that there were words with sentences after them. "A dictionary maybe?

Sorel had spent a long time finding a new home and Master after her first one died so abruptly. And in doing so, she lost her way a little. Or rather she lost a focus for whatever Jedi she should ultimately become. Or perhaps the generalist upbringing had been to her favour. A requirement to be all types of Jedi for a while allowed her to sample each one — as opposed to being laser-like in a viewpoint from too early an age.

She was sure now she wanted to be a sort of guardian and to have a specialism in droids and related technology. But crystals were the other aspect she knew instinctively would be part of her future.

“That book feels important. Can we translate it here and now?” The excitement within her was palpable and she was keen to know what secrets the tome offered and not to have to wait.

Orihime looked at her and waved her hand. "Can we translate it." She seemed all sure but then held it. "I don't know but I think we can work on it and to look over some of the bigger things now. Like right there." She said pointing towards the signs as well as holding up her datapad with the hologram of the AI for knowledge and linguistics was there. Quiet was skilled in this so they could work with it. She was inputting the pages for the scanner to work on translating it as she was happy to try and work with it. "We will get quiet on it and work on what we have here. These are labs so these signs should be general maybe." The scanner kept going while she was walking turning it over and while scanning it was showing as many linguistic methods to find ways to translate it as an AI could. Orihime though walked to one of the windows and opened it up as there was some more things like a large courtyard with one of the larger crystals out there surrounded by spheres. It looked like a model of their solar system. "Pretty."

Sorel was keen to have the book translated but she understood that it couldn’t happen instantly and so put her exuberance on hold. “We can wait for the AI, I’m sure there’s plenty to do whilst we wait.”

So she followed Orihime and took in the sights of the courtyard — and found another crystal. Much bigger this time. And it seemed to be the focal point of some sort of solar map.

“Pretty indeed. Crystals must be really significant to these people.”
