TECHNICAL INFORMATION

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • One Job: It’s a slicing droid. It’s not able to fight, or repair ships, or patch you up. It just hacks systems
  • Quick Learner: The Heuristic Processor allows the droid to learn from its mistakes and think up new solutions.

Strengths:
+Slicer: It’s designed to slice systems, and by Ashla, it’ll slice systems. Locked doors? Firewalls? No problem.
+Hands Free: Just plug it into a data terminal, and it’ll do the rest.
+Hard Reset: If the device falls into the wrong hands, a remote access code can force the unit to self-destruct.

Weaknesses:
-Little Box: It’s a box. It has to be plugged in by hand, and can’t move on its own. The lack of mobility makes it more of a tool than most other slicing droids.
-Mute: Having no way to vocalize communications, the Black Box is forced to send encrypted messages via commlink. These come out as a string of binary on a screen or through a commlink. It’s left to the other end to decipher from there.
-Free Will?: Due to the heuristic processor, it’s possible for the Black Box to begin to think on its own, and even resist a self-destruct order.

DESCRIPTION
Slicing is work, and most sentients, even the experts in the field, are slow. A droid can run a thousand programs a minute, while most beings struggle to do two or three. Automation has been part of the field for as long as it existed. The Black Box was the next logical step.

A small black cube, the Black Box is a slicing droid without any extra materials. It may not be able to make it to the computer on its own, but once in place, little can stop it from doing its magic. Planting a virus? Need to open a door? Trying to get to some heavily protected paydata? The Black Box can get it, as long as you keep it from getting removed or destroyed while it works.
