Holographic Sight: The Obliterator SMG comes fully equipped with a holographic sight for clarity of targeting options. While this does not enhance targeting range it allows for a clarity of sighting with regards to opponents at range and in cover allowing for more precise shots when aimed.
Advanced Recoil System: Due to the large caliber of bullet the SMG uses an advanced recoil system was created for the Obliterator. The butt of the SMG is equipped with a hydraulic spring system which absorbs upwards of 80% of the guns recoil when fired before the remainder is transferred into the operator. The recoil system allows for steadier aim and allows for continuous fire from a trainer operator. Without the recoil system in place misuse of the SMG would likely result in untrained operator injuries.
Description: The O-2 -Obliterator- SMG was designed by the Black Armory to supplement a high caliber Sub machine gun that is both efficient and powerful. Initial testing of the O-1 design pointed out several flaws in the SMG such as the requirement of a new recoil system used to absorb the shockwave created from firing the weapon. This prompted the creation of the Advanced Recoil System housed in the butt of the SMG which is taken from similar designs used in Automatic Shotgun models. Once testing and implementation of the O-1'S recoil system concluded the finishing touches were placed on the SMG and production begun.
The Obliterator has an effective firing range of 150 meters. It uses 7.8mm ammunition, considerably larger than the usual ammunition in an SMG, that has been rounded, blunted, as compared to regular piercing ammunition. Accommodating the larger caliber of ammunition for the Obliterator is a larger barrel and firing components housed inside a duraplast shell. The SMG is fully automatic but has a three round burst setting as well. Accuracy decreases, even with the advanced recoil system, when prolonged automatic fire is sustained.
The SMG's main strength is its ability to unleash a high caliber barrage of firepower. Its purpose is, literally, to be able to punch through the heavily armored opponents which are becoming more common place in the galaxy. Due to the blunted nature of 7.8mm ammunition that the SMG uses if it cannot punch through its targets armor a degree of blunt force trauma is still transferred through via the kinetic force of the impacts on point. It's enough to break bones and cause internal bleeding in the worst case scenario or leave horrendous bruises in the best case; either way the Obliterator ensures it leaves its mark on whoever it targets.
The weakness of the SMG are, most obviously, its increased weight as compared to regular SMG's as well as its somewhat smaller clip capacity and a slightly decreased effective firing range. Its attachments are also limited; the Holographic Sight is mounted to the SMG ensuring that it is unable to fit a zoom scope in the majority of cases and its larger barrel means it requires specially made suppressors. It's also very loud. Because the Obliterator uses special 7.8mm ammunition instead of the standard 5.56mm ammunition that the majority of other SMG's use finding replacement ammunition can also be a chore.
When Black Armory made this SMG it recognized it was taking the weapon in a different direction compared to other conventional models in the same category of firearm. It is far from a generic weapon. The Obliterator is an effective medium to close range solution for combatants and packs an enormous punch.
