The Red Pearl Casino

The night was young, and Christian had only been there for about an hour, but he was already up about 50 thousand credits in a game of Sabacc that he had just become the chip leader in after the last hand.

Things were going about as well as they could for him that night, but he knew that he wasn't long for such pleasure. He kept that cocky smirk on his face, but he felt the ripples in the force warning him of something to come. It could have been a fly in his drink or the entire planet could have imploded. It wouldn't have mattered what, the force was still warning him. If it were something sever, however, the force would have made him feel more than a twinge that irritated him in the slightest bit.

It was just enough to break his concentration as he reached forwards and played the wrong card, losing him the hand for that round and a few thousand credits. "Dammit...", he said under his breath as his golden eyes shifted to look over his shoulder. What's going on that the force would bother in such a way?, he thought.

There was her target: the bothan in the blue shirt. The wolf-like creature was wanted in three-systems for illegal drug trafficking and Kitt was there to collect. Or, t'collect as Hannibal would've said. This was a rare, solo mission without the aid of the Fondorian or her NPC friend, Chuck. Like cheese-grits on the stove, she was ready.

"Mister Bilbo Sneeve?" The young bounty-hunter slid into the chair next to the bothan at the casino's bar. She was just glad she wouldn't have to interrupt one of the sabaac game tables. This setting was a tad-bit more discreet. With moves as smooth as melted butter, she took a pair of cuffs out from her pocket and cuffed one to the bothan and the other to her wrist, using the other hand to push the smuggled in-blaster to his side. "We can do this the easy way or the hard way. You're wanted in three sy--," panic lit-up in the bothan's eyes and it swung its short but powerful arm back, trying to swing Kitt into the bar.

Finger squeezed down on the trigger, the stun-bolt going wide and hitting some Barabel in the shoulder. The patrons screamed as all chaos broke out in the casino.

Pushing off the bar ledge, she lunged for her fallen blaster as she tried to tackle the bothan. Unfortunately, the barabel was with a group of not-so-happy friends who were making their way over to the cuffed Kitt and Bilbo, shoving past other fist and knife fights that were already starting to fill the room.

Christian watched the other players on the table carefully with those golden eyes of his, his stack beginning to make theirs pale in comparison. Everything was going perfectly to plan, and he was being dealt hands that he couldn't have cheated to make any better. It was like taking candy from a baby, and that night was being very good to him... well... it was...

...until.

"Pow!", a bolt shot rang out from a blaster somewhere in the casino, and after that, all hell broke loose. People began to scuffle and scatter in all directions, screaming and yelling filling the air as Christian's eyes went from one intense pair of eyes to the next. Not a single one of them had moved in that intense moment, but he could read the looks on their faces as they all thought about grabbing a hand full of chips from his stack and making for the doors.

Leaning up a bit, Christian raised his right hand and extended his index finger as he said, "Now wait just a min...", but it was too late. Every one of them dove across the table and began to wrestle over his stack of chips, credits flying this way and that as they fought one another. Christian began throwing shot after shot across the faces of the other players, but nothing would deter them. They were money hungry and they had gotten caught up in the chaos.

"Son of a!", Christian yelled as he threw himself up from his seat and threw out his right leg, kicking the edge of the table with the bottom of his boot. As he did, the table lurched forwards, sliding across the floor and throwing a few of the men to the ground. The man who'd been sitting opposite of him, however, was struck in the legs and sent head over heels landing flat on his back in the middle of the table. When the man leaned up, he was staring straight up at Christian who whipped his arm around and popped him across the cheek in his continued frustration.

The man turned and fell flat on his face across the tale littered with chips that would no longer do Christian any good. More and more people crowded the table and began picking it clean as Christian walked around them and looked back and forth for who'd started all the commotion. As he did, he saw a young woman being tugged back and forth with what seemed to be her struggling prisoner. He stopped for a moment, narrowing his eyes on the girl, thinking that she looked familiar, but he had not time to figure that out as a pissed off barabel and his friend shoved him forwards into the bar in the attempt to make it past him towards the handcuffed pair.

Christian caught himself against the bar, but he held his head down for a moment as he composed himself. He grew angry, and very quickly considering how the night had started. Being pushed around just wasn't going to help his mood. That's why, when he raised back up he stepped back out in front of the Barabel, who growled at him for getting in the way again. It was cut short, however, by Christian's elbow, which came up and popped the lizard like creature in the face and sent him to the floor.

The humaniod's friends looked a little startled, but quickly they turned to aggression and attacked Christian, who was more than happy to defend himself. His night wasn't getting any better, and so he figured that a fight may make him feel a bit better. He seemed to be right, too, as he threw a large, hard fist into one of the men's faces, then turning to the next and striking him in the stomach, then slammed his head into the bar next to him as a third man tackled him around the waist which sent them both stumbling to the floor.

Fingers gripped around her blaster as her elbow knocked the bothan in the chest. The being grunted and swore, half dragging Kitt along as it rushed toward the exit. Raising it, she fired the stun bolt at his chest and he dropped to the floor, coincidentally pulling Kitt to the floor as well.

Maybe handcuffing herself to her prey wasn't the best idea...

A huff of air left her lips as she tried to blow away the unruly, chestnut strands of hair away from her eyes. Staying low, she caught a glimpse of a rather tall, dark, and handso---

Wait-a-minute.

She totally knew that guy. That was Christian Slade. What were the odds?! A strong grip on her shoulder snapped her out of her reminiscent daze. "You fething hunter," a blast of fowl breath hit her face as another barabel lifted her off her feet and snapped the cuffs that were holding her to her dinner-ticket.

"That's not very nice, sweetheart," she brought her blaster up only to have her arm knocked away by a wookie with an eye-patch.

Anything but a wookie...Kitt groaned. The barabel pulled her closer, clawed hand wrapping around her neck. "I should just snap your neck but the thing is, I'm out a few credits from an interrupted sabaac game. Seems like you'd get a nice deal on the slave market with a face like that. Assuming you ain't got two mouths under that mask...heck, even if you did..."

The force she so hated flared up in Kitt as an uneasy feeling spread through her. Her blaster leaped back to her hand and she managed to fire off a stun ring at the Barabel's foot. Sadly, it was only enough to make him lose feeling in the leg, but it was enough to make him release her. But the wookie was on her as soon as her feet retouched the ground. Grabbing Kitt, the wookie pulled the huntress into its furry body, arm slowly crushing her. The blaster fell from her hand for a second time as she felt like it was harder and harder to breath.

Christian fought through the thinning, yet still very rough crowd of gamblers who were getting more and more hostile. He threw men out of the way and struck others that attacked him, sending some to their knees and knocking others flat on their backs. The fey he'd knocked out were obviously with the pair who were ganging up on the young woman who'd been handcuffed to what seemed like a bothan with a bounty on his head.

He'd seen him before on a poster or something, but he'd paid him no mind. He didn't have time to be wasting hunting bounties, but here he was going after him anyway. It was almost like he'd been roped into it by one person or another he knew, but he had no idea that was actually the case. Not until he got a better look at the girl, which caused him to stop, his golden eyes widening as he realized who she was. It was Kitt, the young woman he'd almost killed for stealing from him only months prior, and here she was getting herself into a heap of trouble she didn't look like she'd be getting out of alone.

She was holding her own for a while, however, using the force to actually pull her blaster from the floor. That was certainly something Christian was interested in as he watched her defend herself, but it was short lived as a wookiee with an eye patch patch approached her from behind and snatched her up into his arms. The look on her face was anything but a comfortable one as he began to squeeze her. That was when he knew he had to do something to help.

"Put her down.", Christian demand as he started walking in the direction of the Wookiee. He gave him three seconds, and the beast did not respond. Those three seconds was all he was going to get seeing as Christian wasn't a patient man. As he reached the Wookiee he planted his right foot and stepped forward, his right arm becoming a blur as he put a his fist deep into the furry, muscular creature. Beneath his hand he felt rib after rib after rib snap under the pressure as his hand sunk in, and in the next moment he doubled over, dropping his arms so that he could cradle his side in pain as he howled. He then stumbled to the side, bracing a table as he fell into it, Christian quickly following up behind him and stopping there, watching the pained creature.

Reaching up with a massive hand, Christian grabbed the Wookiee by a large tuft of hair on the back of his head. He then pulled his head over the Sabacc table he was bracing himself against and slammed him face first into the table top, raring his head back up after he did and looking him square in the eyes with a displeased look on his face. He then slammed his head into the table once, twice, three more times before the beast finally went limp and slid down to the floor.

Turning, Christian looked at the Bothan who had been fighting with Kitt and stared him down as he slowly made his way back over to Kitt, reaching out his hand to offer it and assist her in standing. "That's enough.", he said, watching the Bothan and ready to beat him into dust if he tried anything funny.

She fell to the floor like a sack of sweet-potatoes as soon as the wookie released her and thoroughly got beat-up by the Sith Master. She grimaced, hand pressed to her side, feeling the bruised ribs. When Christian came back over, it took her a moment to snap out of her sore daze. Smooth palm slipped into his larger hand as she accepted his help up.

"Thanks," she found her voice, it coming out gruffer than planned. Walking over to the Bothan, she hauled him up, wincing slightly. "Alright bub, time to make a trip to the bounty office," the bothan trembled, fearful gaze remaining on Christian. She looked over at the giant man with golden eyes. "You up for being my back-up for the night? Just gotta drop him off at the spaceport. I'll split the bounty with you."

Seemed only fair. Besides, once they dropped of the bounty she would pepper him with questions. Why did they run into each other again? Serendipity?

Christian watched the scene carefully, the young woman looking more in control than she actually was. It made him smile ever so slightly, and though he knew she was skilled, she'd bitten off a little more than she could chew that night. It was inexperience, something he'd suffered from in a few regards when trying to take on the galaxy. He wasn't about to deny her his company, however, knowing that she'd already had enough trouble and that he could use a change of pace.

Walking up next to the woman, those golden eyes peering into the Bothan, Christian stopped and reached out, resting his hand on the girl's shoulders. It was uncharacteristic for him to be so close to anyone, but he'd had a few drinks and he simply didn't care. His night had gone to hell because of someone he'd already had a run in with, but that run in had given his night more possibilities anyhow.

"You had better behave yourself for my friend here or what your friend got will be a blessing compared to what you'll get.", he said, smirking as he did and looking down at the young Kitt next to him.

"Sure... you owe me, but I won't take your bounty. We'll call your company payment enough."

"Real gentlemanly of you," the easy-going grin was on her face but her eyes questioned Christian's intentions, studying his face intently for a few beats more before turning to nudge the Bothan toward the door. "Alright, let's go bub. This ain't a free show for you." Walking along with Christian, they made it to the spaceport without any more interruptions, even making it to the deportation office. After a bunch of boring paperwork and expert maneuvering of red-tape, she was finally Bothan free and several thousand credits richer.

Striding out of the office, she leaned against the outside wall of the deportation-office, the expanse of the busy-hangar surrounding the bounty hunter and the sith master. "So, what're your plans now, Mister Slade?"
