SPECIAL FEATURES

Subprocessor Task Specializations (each unit is equipped with two pre-programmed specializations chosen from the following list)
  • Starfighter Piloting
  • Vehicle Operation
  • Astro-navigation
  • Ship-to-ship Gunnery
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Zero-G Close Quarters Combat
  • Long Range Gunnery
  • Stealth Reconnaissance
  • Battlefield Tactics
  • Battlefield Triage
  • Security Protocols
  • Counter-Security Operations
  • Advanced Language Protocols
Strengths:
  • Capable of storing large amounts of data and extensive initial programming
  • Each brain is equipped with two task-specific sub-processors that enhance initial specializations
  • Initial programming can be augmented by both a Mimetic Combat Processor and Heuristic learning Processor over time
  • Rapid processing speeds, dual-core design, and Mimetic/Heuristic Processing capabilities enable these droids to be highly intelligent
  • Droid Brain is capable of quickly and easily being removed and swapped between "Droid Bodies" in a "plug-and-play" manner
Weaknesses:
  • Incapable of receiving memory wipes
  • Droids rapidly develop complex personalities
  • Droids older than 1 year in age function poorly in highly regimented combat groups
  • Invented by "Cult of Life" Charon, the design is poorly understood by the Mandalorians that utilize this droid brain
DESCRIPTION

Invented by Charon Cult of Light refugees and gifted to Clan Dem'adas Engineers sometime after the clan's escape from Otherspace. The Bes'verd Droid Processor is a complex, Dual-Core Positronic Brain design that is based not upon the brain of humans, but upon the brain of a naturally occurring crystal-based lifeform. The brain itself is made up of a highly complex form of memory crystal that is capable of storing massive amounts of information and processing abnormally large amounts of data very quickly. This enables the brain to both contain an extensive initial programming and also maintain a high level of 'intelligence' as the brain is capable of running through extensive calculations very rapidly. Moreover, the brain is separated into a front and back hemisphere that operate independently from one another and further enhance the droid brain's ability to process complex situations and arrive at an intelligent conclusion rapidly.

Though these brains are intended for use in Battle Droids, Bes'verd Droid Brains are equipped with extensive core programming that makes them capable of far more than the traditional battle droid. Intended to serve both as ground troops and as crew aboard starships, Bes'verd are programmed to perform a wide range of Engineering and Maintenance tasks in addition to serving in a traditional combat role, which includes core programming on everything from the operation of various military grade equipments to basic battlefield tactics and weapon drills. While a Mandalorian would equate the personal combat training of this initial programming with the capabilities of a typical Mandalorian child (which would likely be considered impressive in most of the galaxy), these droids rapidly learn from their human handlers and synthetic superiors thanks to the nature of the droid's dual-hemisphere processor.
The rear hemisphere of this Positronic Brain incorporates a Fourth Degree Mimetic Combat Processor, Mandalorian Culture Protocol Chip, Advanced Targeting Module, and a pair of Specialized Subprocessors. This half of the synthetic brain functions as the logical half of the droid's behavioral programming and contains most of the droid's initial programming. The other half of the droid's brain, the fore hemisphere, functions as the creative/emotional side and is made up of a complex Heuristic Processor that initially provides little benefit to the droid other than to produce a droid that is marginally more likely to 'invent' solutions to complex problems. These two hemispheres are linked by central Primary Performance Banks and a ventral Behavioral Circuitry Matrix that allows the dual-core processor to quickly and efficiently reach a consensus between its two brains and function with a high degree of Intelligence.

In this manner, Bes'verd Positronic Brains are capable of rapidly assessing a situation and comparing it against their core programming, personal experiences, and observations made of commanders and opposition. From here, the droid brain can rapidly reach a conclusion as to which relevant procedures should be relied upon to resolve the situation and in many cases is capable of 'inventing' new solutions by mixing various sub-steps within protocols, observations, and experiences.

However, this degree of intelligence is not without its flaws. Due to the nature of the Positronic Brain's complex design, droids equipped with these processors are incapable of having their memory wiped and routinely develop complex sentience profiles. Which means that, while these advanced droid brains are quick to gather a high degree of intelligence as they mimic other, higher ranking droids and Mandalorian commanders, or otherwise simply learn through experimentation and experience, they are also quick to become fully or partially Sentient and are capable of becoming as unpredictable and troublesome (for foe and commander alike) as any other sentient Mandalorian, organic or otherwise.

Bes'verd Droids typically speak to each other in Dadita, speak to Mandalorians in Mando'a, speak to other droids in Droid-Speak, and speak to all others in Galactic Basic.
