18. Age of enlistment and the day Benedict Ortega left Naboo and his family’s estate.

But it was not a happy departure for the eager recruit. As the oldest son he was the designated heir of his house, plans had been put forward, plots hinging upon him being there and becoming the eventual Lord Ortega himself.

It was not to be.

Years of training and eventual bloody skirmishes at the borders reforged him into a battle-hardened veteran at the age of twenty-three. By then Benedict had made a name out for himself, he had gotten the reputation of being a man of integrity, honesty and conviction.

A staunch supporter of the Protectorate and the protection it extended to its worlds. Perhaps it was his character which made him receive an invitation from the Lord Inquisitor, or perhaps it were his capabilities - the reasons are only known to Potteiger, but at the end of a comprehensive vetting session?

A new Inquisitor was inducted.

Years have passed since then, and now Benedict finds his homeworld under a different banner. The smoke has not yet cleared, the fires still burning, but he is slowly realizing that one cannot simply walk away from the battle.
