BIOGRAPHY:
Born into House Khal, a clan of the Hapan nobility, Ben was sent to the Jedi Order as a young child and had become a Padawan by his early teens. He was apprenticed to Master Oukranos Cthylla, a Pylantian Jedi with whom he had a complicated and often strained relationship. Oukranos was often deployed as a secret agent of the Order in circumstances where the Jedi would not normally be permitted to interfere, frequently engaging in clandestine missions to faraway planets with Ben at his side. The boy had limited social contact with his fellow Padawans and made few friends his own age, with most of his close relationships being with older Jedi Masters.
When Ben was fifteen, problems on his homeworld would spark a chain of events with disastrous consequences. The assassination of his cousin Shaya Khal and her betrothed, Prince Astor Daaray, at the hands of General Kalen, the leader of a rebel terrorist organization known as the Crimson Veil, ignited long-simmering tensions in the Hapes Cluster. What would become known as the Hapes Crisis more closely resembled a civil war, as the forces of Queen Mother Kha'la Daaray engaged in violent clashes with the Crimson Veil. The Jedi Order sought to remain neutral in the conflict, but when Ben discovered that his own master was working with the terrorists, he chose to act. He sided with the Consortium, a decision which regrettably led him to duel the Jedi Shadow

, who defeated him in battle.The civil war ended with the death of the Queen Mother and the ascension of her younger sister Nimaa'ri to the throne of Hapes. In the aftermath, Ben was brought before the Council to face the consequences of his actions. Rather than let them cast judgment, he decided to take the Barash and returned to his family on Hapes, where he spent the next three years.
In that time, the Galactic Alliance began to crack underneath the strain of a long and protracted war against the Sith. An ambitious Hapan noblewoman named Aurellia Revali hired pirates to initiate a raid on Hapes, resulting in the death of Nimaa'ri. In the chaos that followed, Aurellia proclaimed herself the next Queen Mother, married the leader of the pirates who had attacked Hapes, and turned the Cluster into an unwitting haven for the Black Sun, a galaxy-spanning crime syndicate. Disgusted by what has become of his homeworld, Ben returns to the Jedi Order as a Knight, finding it very different from the one he left two years ago...
