Behold, A Pale Horse! [T1 Dominion of Janara]

Grand Admiral, First Order Central Command
[11/20]

Hulked, abandoned, and left drifting, the sinking of the Belsar heralded the last gasp of resistance from the JDF. The last ship with any real combat capability was the 3rd Flotilla's Nonnah-class, and it fired a few desultory shots at the Implacable from it's six gun main battery, followed up by a volley of energy torpedoes. A few even pierced the battlecruiser's shields, exploding on the hull and inflicting several hundred casualties that even from Admiral Kahalen's point of view seemed pointless.

The Implacable's return fire was sudden and accurate, scoring a dozen hits on the frontal profile of the Janaran cruiser and, ultimately, dissuaded further action. It's nose bloodied, the cruiser turned and fled, and as it ran the rest of the JDF scattered, the ships heading outbound in small groups. Some would inevitably make their way to the Alliance, or to the other post-Republic factions, where perhaps they would return to fight the First Order again some day. Others would likely join some independent world, or even end up as pirates, living a short life preying on First Order shipping (or a longer one going after some other, softer target).

As the last few ships of the JDF jumped out-system, planetary based networks would note their progress and soon come to the realization that there would be no relief for the forces embattled on the ground. Organized resistance rapidly began to break down, with entire units throwing down their arms and surrendering, hoping for some sort of amnesty in the face of inevitability.

At 1536, after conferring with ground force commanders, Group Commander Mors announced the end of combat operations in Janara. The official surrender of the Janaran government was received by designated representatives three hours later. At 1840 Operation Fallen Sword was announced as complete, just over 20 hours after it had started.

It would be another hour before the Grand Moff would receive her requested status report from the Admiral. It summarized the entire operation, with a few key points. Casualties were noted as heavy, but within projections, based on enemy resistance that was marginally more effective than expected. Special praise was given to the widespread FOSB and Special Agent (read, Knights of Ren) support on the ground. It further noted that occupying forces were working with local authorities to oversee the surrender of all former Janaran Defense Forces, and the tally of arms and equipment surrendered was significantly higher than expected. Evidently the Janarans had been preparing for war for some time. The last page was a list of all ships lost, and known casualties.

FIV By the Sword, Reclaimer-class. 7,297 KIA.
FIV Intrepid, Corsair-class, Lost with all hands.
FIV Wolf, Raptor-II class, 448 KIA.
FIV Vagabond, Dagger-II class, 68 KIA.
FIV Erito Zan, 849-class, Lost with all hands.
FIV Julius M Fischer, 849-class, 792 KIA.
FIV Karen Muller, 849-class, 319 KIA.

And so on, for all 19 ships lost, with a second page detailing the casualties of all ground forces, and a third for naval casualties on ships that weren't sunk.

Before the day had ended a group of enterprising machinists and engineers had made a plaque with the names of all the lost ships on both sides, attached it to a marker beacon, and launched it into geosynchronous orbit around the planet. A fitting memorial for the those who had suffered the passage of Death.
