HISTORICAL INFORMATION
To understand Become a Master of Teras Kasi: 8 Disk Box Set one needs to have an idea of the star and producers of it, Camacho Lutador. Camacho was a rather renowned and famous martial artist in their heyday many years ago. An eager yet brash athlete that eventually got into the entertainment industry. Starring in many action films and becoming something of a household name where media starring him aired.

Camacho was very passionate about martial arts and particularly with Teras Kasi. Believing it had much to offer people in more ways than just hitting things hard. Offering emotional and mental guidance and improving one’s physical health. Camacho wanted to share this knowledge with more people and thus the idea was born to make the films. However, from the very start even in pre-production things were already looking bad. Executives from Daystar Entertainment were reluctant to have anything to do with the project and offered little to know aid to Camacho yet there were a lot of expectations for him to follow. Along with needing to basically create, produce, star and direct the project himself he also had his responsibilities as a celebrity athlete.

The stress of all this put Camacho on a downward spiral and he turned to performance enhancers just to be able to keep up with the competition. The films he worked so hard on had become nothing much more than a welling meaning passion project for him. The content was pretty campy and cliche, and hard to take seriously since Camacho was expected to stay “in character” throughout it which generally hurt the lessons being taught. Despite him putting his heart and soul into creating a rather nice and positive albeit parasocial relationship between himself and the view behind the screen. Like a compassionate coach and friend.

Naturally the film project was doomed but needed to be released to the public well before it was meant to be finished. Camacho needed to rush the ending lessons just to hit the deadline. Unsurprisingly the Films were bashed by critics and audiences alike. Many found it to be a campy, unhelpful cash grab by Camacho and Daystar Entertrainment. Especially since each disk chapter was sold separately.

This crushed the spirit of the well meaning martial artist that just wanted to show and expose more people to Teras Kasi. Remarkable enough though other Teras Kasi practitioners have actually said positive things about the films. Believing it to be a flawed yet faithful enough representation of the technical aspects of their art and craft. But the damage was already done, and the negativity of the films reception was what many believed to play a part in the untimely death of Camacho Lutador.

With the death of the film's star, Daystar Entertainment quickly ended the already very limited production of the films. Only ten years later by some pressure from its small fanbase did the entertainment company realize the full 8 Disk Pack in an extremely limited sale. It’s unknown how many copies still survive in the galaxy now. All people know is that it is very small, only enough for a few small-scale illegal pirating services to distribute their own copies.

With there being some limited distribution and with an easier way to view all 8 disk chapters. Those that have managed to watch all of them have come away with a greater appreciation not only for the martial art but as well as Camacho as a person. Especially with the 8th Disk Chapter “Graduation” which was the least successful of the 8 films. The rushed ending for the project where Camacho himself addressed the viewer in an surprisingly heartfelt and out of character fashion. Teaching them that Teras Kasi is more than just punching holes through thick wooden planks, or being able to dodge blaster fire. It was now a part of the viewer/student. Though the hope was that those who learned from him in the films would never use the martial art for or with malicious intent that was not for him to decide, it was for his apprentices behind the camera. He knew the flaws of the film, and urged all those who were interested past their viewings to seek out additional training. To train in person with masters and carry on the sacred traditions.

Because of more people seeing the complete 8 Disk Box set in more recent years, a growing number of people have had their views shifted in a more positive light, towards the films and Camacho himself. Many more recognized that the films were not produced in a vacuum immune to external pressures and medalling. That despite all its faults it was genuine and that the star and producer of it was genuine about their passion for teaching Teras Kasi. Cyran Vaas being one of the few lucky enough to own an original 8 Disk Box Set that he found when he was an adolescents in an old thrift shop.
