  • The BAW-55 is designed with two barrels, which fire two shots simultaneously.

  • Double-barreled: The double-barrel aspect of the BAW-55 means that it is far more powerful than contemporary pistols, able to rip holes in armor with a certain punch.

  • Big Boy: Since the BAW-55 is all around larger and more powerful than your average pistol, that means it is busier and heavier as well and overall more cumbersome.
  • Aggressive Negotiations: This is not a blaster that one could conceal very well, and is meant for officers on the battlefield versus operatives and diplomats.

The BAW-55 was a blaster specially commissioned for officer use first by High Marshal Kiff Brayde, of the CIS Miranda Sector Armada. Kiff recognized the need for a high-powered sidearm that, while not having the same connotations and size of standard blaster rifles, could still serve officers well on a pitched battlefield. Many parts of the design came from the old Blastech RSKF-44 model, and it is indeed like a sequel to the earlier gun. The BAW-55 is designed for higher level Confederacy officers (Vice Marshal and above, ideally) to use when they might be feeling a little trigger-happy and want to visit the front themselves.

Although it is a powerful gun, able to rip chunks in armor or droid plating, it is hefty and cumbersome with a barrel large enough to be held in a standard two-hand grip. Indeed, it is as if its a 'small blaster rifle,' and definitely has the aspect of such. Around twenty-inches in length overall, it is definitely a big gun and anyone who is facing its double barrel is in deep trouble.
