DESCRIPTION
The Aegis Battleshield is a simple production shield for the entirety of the Hegemony and the free market. It offers a large area of cover as well as an additional shield generator which allow it to protect against a multitude of common attacks like from blasters and explosions. There is no special technology or unique approach to this equipment piece. It is simple, solid and effective, used by all branches of the Hegemony.

The design derived from the original Zakuulan Knight shields as well as blast and riot shields used during the Clone Wars and afterwards, meant to be useful to be used both in open battle as well as efficiently covering tight spaces. With its alternative strappings, it can be either wielded in a more offensive or defensive manner and allows to fight in formation. The shield is particularly prominent for boarding troops and the Knights of Zakuul.

Units often decide to paint unit markings, kill counts or battle honour onto their shields, making them a bit more personal and unique, even though it is certainly considered and expendable and replaceable piece of protection.
