Description: While the Mk II/S has seen wide-spread adoption by Protectorate forces and is generally held to be a successful suit of combat armor, a number of weaknesses were found. The most common complaint of the Mk II/S is that while it affords the use significant mobility, it is a double-edged sword as that mobility is made possible due to large gaps in the armor plating. As well, users of the armor complained of a rattling effect when utilizing heavier weapons and evidence from the field suggests that the plates can deform under sustained stress of heavy weapons use.

These flaws weren't entirely unexpected or unreasonable. Despite some criticism of the armor, the Mk II/S is held to be a total success for what it aimed to do, which was be a multipurpose armor that could meet a wide variety of combat scenario with acceptable combat performance. To address users who require a heavier armor, the Mk. II/H was rolled into production. The MK II/H differs from the II/S in a number of noticeable ways. First, and immediately apparent, the II/H has much smaller gaps in protection from the armor plates, which retaining the ability for replacement of individual damages plates in the field. While this increases its overall effectiveness in direct, sustained combat, the II/H is more restricting of movement than the II/S.

Next, the Mk II/H has a number of servos and reinforced joint actuators that significantly reduce combat stress from heavy weapons fire. This has the unintended side-effect of augmenting the user's strength. While this is a boon to many, the servos and joints have a built-in safety mechanism that locks them in place under significant heavy stresses and remains in such a lock for a full minute, or under the stress subsides, whichever occurs last. Caution is therefor advised as this feature cannot be overridden and locked limbs in combat is an almost certain death sentence.

The most significant change though comes in the form of a forearm-sized module place-able on either the left or right arm. Acquired from Eshan Technologies through Silk Holdings, the module is a portable energy shield generator. As a minor modification, instead of producing a very low energy pulses continuously and then activating on being hit, the idea was touched upon by studies of the Gungans from Naboo to instead produce a constant shield. This benefit is not without its drawbacks however. Although such a modification allows for the shield to be used more aggressively, the power source for the shield generator burns out after a minute of constant use. While the original shield can recharge itself, the modification renders the power source inert and must be replaced entirely; a process that is difficult to do while under combat. However, the trade-off is often worth it to the soldier.

The visor of the helmet is noticeably larger than most. The primary reason for this is to help alleviate the more restricted mobility of the armor. The user often cannot dodge attacks with the dexterity of more lightly armored targets, so they must be able to see the strikes coming to take them head-on in the least damaging way possibly.

Some of the first adopters of this armor, which is available for sale to authorized groups only, are the Corellian Eclipse mercenaries.
