The Fallen Cub
The Moonmother was an influential figure in Bastet's life, seeing both opportunity and fortune in her future and took the new initiate under her wing personally and began to educate her in both the Force and other dark arts. Little did Bastet know that she was, in actuality, being taught the secrets of Sith magic and sorcery, as the Moonmother was a practitioner of these evil powers that had been shown to her ancestors millennia ago. Excited to be finally regarded as important and beguiled by the power offered, Bastet threw herself into the education, put through rigorous tests and trials by her new Master that would leave her scarred and battered.
Soon violently loyal to the Moonmother and her extreme ideas, Bastet graduated to a full member of the order by a young age with impressive power commanded by her now. Secretly, her education in the Dark Side of the Force only bloomed after she became a full-fledged member. Soon she exposed to far more troubling motives and actions being conducted by her fellow monks. Many were secretly devoted followers of the Moonmother, to the point they were willing to kill for her and betray Sarang clan in the process.
Bastet wasn't sure if she was willing to go that far, to the chagrin of her fellow extremists. Sensing the doubt in her apprentice, the Moonmother issued a challenge as a test of loyalty, one with great peril but limitless rewards.
"Kill the pretender."
It didn't take long for her to realize that her beloved Master was ordering the execution of Bastet's own sister, Sekhmet, the 'pretender'. Doing such a thing would shatter the line of succession in Sarang clan but, if a coup was successful and the divisive circle of monks took control of things, it was possible for Bastet to ascend as the next leader and plunge everything into chaos. Deeply unsettled by such an idea, Bastet retaliated by announcing she would inform her father, the chieftain, of such rebellious acts and let a tribunal decide her fate. Disappointed in her apprentice, the Moonmother let her leave their clandestine meeting grounds after her proclamation -- Only to have her later ambushed by fanatics on the way to her family, during the night. Forced to defend herself, Bastet went on the offensive and slew the people she once considered a second family, fighting under the cover of darkness within the tent settlement. Following this encounter, it quickly became apparent to the young Witch that even if she went to the rest of her family, they would not only be put in further danger but would regard her as a killer and deal with her as such. Therefore she took it upon herself, and herself alone, to end this rebellion.
Returning to their holy grounds, Bastet would proceed to utilize the very powers taught to her by the Moonmother to kill her in honourable single combat. The fight would disfigure Bastet forever as the Moonmother cleaved her horns off, but she would retaliate twofold/ Claiming the weapon of the Moonmother that had wounded her so as a trophy, the would-be usurpers scattered after their charismatic leader was gone and Sarang was safe from threats they hadn't even been aware of. However, she knew that come morning much of what happened would be revealed. So she fled into the night, bartering with the miners of Orenda to get off-world as soon as possible. The scandal of the Moonmother's seeming murder would be dealt with by others.
It's unclear what Bastet did for those years she spent learning the Galaxy, climatizing to the space-faring lifestyle and earning a living as a stoic mercenary. Affected by the circumstances that led to her leaving her homeworld, Bastet has always carried a great deal of guilt and shame for what she had been tempted into almost doing, disgusted with both herself and those she had come to trust.
But there is redemption for all if they so seek it...

Vice: ArrogantPride was all Bastet had, for a time. Impressively self-centred sometimes, this vice is deeply rooted in her problematic upbringing and is unlikely to go away anytime soon, and flares up whenever she's proven right about something.
Virtue: Assertive
Sharing this virtue with her sister Sekhmet, Bastet is also assertive, possessing a forceful personality that charms some and intimidates others.
Vice: Callous
The Saorsa mindset on weakness isn't forgiving. You're unlikely to get any sympathy out of Bastet unless you've managed to strike a cord.

Bastet doesn't lie and hasn't shown any inclination to. Whether or not it's wanted, Bastet speaks her true and honest mind.
Vice: Selfish
Though she's trying to work on this, primarily Bastet will always put herself first, constantly looking for opportunities for her to get ahead as opposed to the entire group. Sometimes someone just needs to broaden someone's mind.
Virtue: Dependable
Despite her apparently flakiness and unreliability, Bastet is true to her word and will do as she says she will. It's just that she might not make that entirely clear in the lead-up.
Vice: Twisted
The experiences Bastet have been through were enough to push her to the edge and back. Some may consider her 'morally unacceptable'.
Virtue: Resilient
Despite the extremely negative nature of the above vice, it has has a positive effect in the birth of this virtue; Bastet was strengthened in the fires of hardship, it takes quite a bit of stress and toll to break Bastet nowadays. She can withstand quite a bit of pain and struggle before it buries her.

Virtue: Devil's Tail
The Sarang family is one of the few to be genetic carriers of the long-dormant genes that produce tailed Saorsa. Bastet is one of these few Saorsa to sport one, using it as a third limb in day-to-day life.

Represented by The Fool in the major arcana deck, the application of this extremely powerful tarot card to Bastet is actually one of danger, at the moment. Bastet is represented by, yes, the Fool, but it is a reversed Fool. Whilst originally the Fool is representative of someone carefree, loving and adventurous, the reversed Fool is the opposite. She is embittered, uncaring and emotionally closed off, and those under it may even wish death, though she's not quite that far gone. But like all things, there is always hope for change, and if Bastet is able to turn things around, so too will the card turn back to that of a normal Fool.
