  • Barossa Valley – Barossa Valley is one of the first regions in the Southern Ridges area that was cultivated and used for food production. The territory is best known by the general populace for the distilleries that have home there. The most favored drink from the region in recent years is the Barossa Valley Vodka that have a deeply rooted history in the locale culture, having been a part of most farmers dining tables for centuries. The land is almost exclusively owned by Noble families and have been so for generations. However, despite this a larger number of non-humans live in the area, more so than in most other places on Alexandria, mainly due to the work the farms provided. The Winslow family, that originally was some of the first settlers in the region, to this day owns most of Barossa Valley.

  • Winslow Manor – It is said that the first house build on top of the hill where the Winslow’s decided to settle down, was not larger than the smallest bathroom of the current house. Throughout the centuries, Winslow Manor been rebuild and added to as the fortune of the family grew, now featuring well over a dozen cozy and luxurious rooms. From the gardens around the manor, it is possible to overlook a large portion of the farmland owned by the family. The Manor have several garages as well as a large landing pad and various security installments such as motion detectors and laser perimeter scanners. It is also not unusual to see Commonwealth Naval Intelligence security officers patrol the grounds.

  • King’s Loch - A calm mirror surface of -slightly green tinted- water is one of the most iconic feature of King’s Loch. Dense bush surrounds the area leading to the giant lake, but over the years a road track have been carved into the muddy underground, bearing way for earthbound vehicles. During the reign of the monarchs it was customary for the nobles to enjoy hunting trips. In a bid for the King’s favor the Williamsons, a lesser noble family, gifted their nearby lake to the then ruling family by renaming it King’s Loch. The lake is known for being the home of multiple fish species, edible and non-edible alike. The loch also features several cave systems that can be found by the lake.

  • M-640 – Motorway 640 is the main highway that connects the Barossa Southern Ridges with Mandurah Harbor and the rest of Alexandria. It contains several lanes, some of them reserved for military use only. The road is made from duracrete and have barriers on both far sides as well as in the middle, seperating military and civilian lanes and acting as crash guards. The M-640 officially ends well into Barossa territory, a smaller military controlled checkpoint notes who enters the region and if the visitors are bringing anything in or out of the area. Military personal above a certain clearing forego these inspections. After the checkpoint, the highway splits into a multitude of smaller roads that leads to various locations spread around the Southern Ridge.

  • Starshot Diner – Keeping to the civilian speed limits or the maximum capabilities of larger vehicles makes the trip back and forth on motorway 640 a long tiresome drive. In the middle of nowhere, Starshot Diner exists. A small but highly popular eatery owned by an elderly woman by the name of Bertha Gromov. Here she offers the tired driver and passenger a good rest, top-notch meal and a hot cup of caf.

Description:
The area known as the Barossa Southern Ridges is an immense region consisting of varying types of terrain. Most of the fertile terrain have already been turned into farm land, while the remaining area contains bush, forests, lakes and mountains. The area is optimal for agriculture and is renowned for its beauty as it have largely been left untouched by concrete.

History:
For as long as a the first Monarch ruled the Alexandrian people, the Barossa Southern Ridges have played a dominant part in making sure food was available to those that could afford it. Years before any settlers attempted to tame the region it was largely deemed a place where no Human life could thrive. The observations were not entirely false and carving out a proper life in these surroundings was for the first farmers an incredibly difficult task. It required a multitude of workers (mostly non-humans due to the cheap labor they often provided in the class-segregated society) to be recruited to help with maintaining the crops and plant life. The community flourished and soon most of the landowners were racking in credits, advancing through the social ladder of the then monarchy.

Over the years the Barossa Southern Ridges grew to encompass more and more territory as farms expanded.

A great change happened to the region when programmable technology really started to grab hold of Alexandria. Soon autonomous agricultural machinery started to appear in the region, making labor much cheaper, but also resulting in that many families stood without homes as they were replaced by cheaper alternatives. As the great civil war broke out between the Kingdom of Alexandria and the Commonwealth, people were forced to leave their homes at the Barossa territories as they were drafted into the army of the Kingdom and by the time the war had ended very few returned. The dedicated few farm owners continue to this day to use the area to its full potential, hiring few manual laborers and relying heavily on machinery, even though many of the landowners now use Barossa as a place to get away from the stressful life of the city. At the very least, it is not uncommon to spot luxurious homes among the countless fields of golden crops.

Intent: To flesh out Alexandria with more locations and add details to the birthplace of my character.
