- Armament: Extreme
- 2x Fore mounted turbolasers
- Dorsal and ventral turret mounted Twin laser cannons

- Defenses: Very High
- Bronzium external armoured plates
- Durasteel hull
- Titanium armoured sleeve provides protection to main battery and engine sections
- Deflector shield generator
- Squadron Count: Very Low
- Designed to operate in pairs or as a 3 ship wolfpack
- Maneuverability Rating: Average
- Whilst the ship has powerful engines, the relative density and weight of the ship balances out any power advantage.
- Speed Rating: Average
- Approx 70MGLT
- 750km/h in atmosphere
- 2600G maximum acceleration
- Hyperdrive:
- Class 1.2 Hyperdrive
- Class 10 backup hyperdrive
- All standard features expected of a ship such as this.
- Limited 'comfort' facilities
- Small minimalist galley area
- Bunking for 4 personnel in small rooms of main corridor with footlocker personal storage
- No dedicated R&R area
- Drop down floor for access to cargo/passenger area
- Foldout wall mounted seating in cargo area allows for upto 8 passengers to be strapped in.
- Inner armoured sleeve protecting main battery and engine. A Titanium alloy encouraged to form into strong hexagonal crystaline lattice. This forms a very strong inner layer or armour but also encourages heat exchange into inhabited areas of ship.
- Retractable communication dish in nose of ship
- Retractable armoured pods at rear of ship housing deployable ordanance
- Remote operation for dorsal and ventral twin laser cannon turrets
- Long range holocommunication system

STRENGTHS
- Heavy weaponry for a small ship. The turbolasers pack a significant punch, capable of damaging more lightly armoured capital ships, the favoured prey being corvette and frigate sized vessels.
- Heavy multi-layered defences. The ship is extremely resilient and the vital systems are mostly behind the inner layer of armour, allowing the ship to take damage to external areas without complete loss of combat effectiveness.
- Little creature comfort. This ship is not designed for extended missions. It only sleeps 4 Crew and has limited catering facilities. Any passengers must sleep in their seats if necessary.
- Inefficient cargo area, access to the cargo area is its floor which much be lowered once landed. This can be done in halves if cargo is small enough to fit on one half of the lift plate.
- Large energy signature. For a ship of its size, once its weapons are powered up it glows on detection systems. The ship can run with the turbolasers powered down, giving it a signature no larger than a cargo ship of similar size. However the turbolasers take several minutes to reach effective charge one they have been switched of.
- Poor thermal management. Due to the large engines and power generation for the guns, made worse by the armoured sleeve. The ship gets very warm inside. Whilst this is not immediately dangerous, it can make protracted combat very uncomfortable. Heat sensitive species are recommended to wear cooled flight suits on board. This overheating effect can also be reduced by powering down the turbolasers, making travel more comfortable.
Designed by a now defunct subsidiary of Kuat drive yards at the request of REDACTED to meet a specific list of parameters. They wanted a heavily armed warship capable of threatening capital ships many times its size, whilst requiring the minimum investment in crew complement.
Coded as the PR-GS-25MTL, 6 of the ships were built and put through their paces. The ships mostly performed well other than a few accidents, but several issues were discovered. Most notably, a consequence of packing such powerful guns into such a small armoured frame was large heat build up. This made them uncomfortable to fly, but worse, made them excessively easy to detect on scanners. TheREDACTED preferred the idea of an ambush predator, but waiting 5 minutes to recharge the guns after powering down to hide was unacceptable. The situation went back and forth until eventually the Kuat were forced to cancel the project and REDACTED settled with a different, pre-existing product. As of the ships;
Barbarian-1: dismantled for research reasons
Barbarian-2: destroyed during testing
Barbarian-3: in secure deep storage (partially dismantled)
Barbarian-4: given to Brimstone in leiu of payment for high value extraction mission
Barbarian-5: in secure deep storage (intact)
Barbarian-6: stolen during testing run suspectREDACTED involvement
Physically the ship is a small compact hunter whose power is undoubtable. During testing it was easily capable of causing damage to the Kuat target vessels including light capital equivalent targets. It was also capable of surviving relatively large hits, although testing on Barbarian-2 did reveal a weakness in the power containment systems on both 1 and 2. These were rectified in subsequent models following its destruction.
The ship is accessed by either a large top hatch, or through the cargo hold. The hold is approximately 4.5 metres by 8 metres and its entire floor, divided in half, lowers to the ground. The small size of the hold coupled with the mere 2.5m clearance underneath the ship when landed, limits the usability of the hold, but it is large enough for its purpose. Along each side of the hold there are 4 fold out seats where passengers can be strapped in. Passengers who find themselves entertainingly suspended above the void when the hanger door is lowered. As for creature comforts, there is a bare minimum galley and military style sleeping quarters for people, the ship can carry enough consumables for about 2 months away, but is only designed with a footlocker of space for personal effects.
The crew compliment is five, 1 pilot, 1 co-pilot/navigator, 2 gunners and an astromech. At a minimum, all functions can be controlled by the pilot, but this is a lot of work and an astromech at least is recommended to manage the complex power systems on board the ship. The pilot sits centrally in the cockpit with the 2 gunners slightly behind in a flanking position turned slightly away. The co-pilot/navigator has a seat directly behind the pilot with its own control panel and view screens. Flight control can easily be transferred to the copilot position. To the left side of the cockpit is an astromech docking station. A blastproof door separates the cockpit from a single corridor that runs from the cockpit, across the cargo area and then into the engineering compartment at the rear. Flanking this corridor are the 2 bunk rooms, the galley and a small armoury. The side pods on the outside of the armoured sleeve relative to the crew section, can be accessed by a small tunnel that passes through a blast hatch in the sleeve. This area is usually only accessed by the astromech and only contains non-critical mechanical areas.
