OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

SETTING INFORMATION
  • Structure Name: [ Baran Do Temple ]
  • Classification: [Temple]
  • Location: [in the Dor'Shan capital of Dorin]
  • Affiliation: [ Baran Do Sages ]
  • Accessibility: [ The Planets atmosphere may be inhospitable to some species, the courtyard, entrance, and hall of the temple are open to any during storms or bad weather, others usually need only a member with them or permission, which is rarely refused.]
  • Description: [A massive four level Ziggurat building with a transparisteel fence on the estates boarder. The building may seem intimidating to some at first, due to the dark black stone walls on either side. But it is also quite beautiful, with white columns up to the ceiling which sparkled like the night sky, and a brown toned permacrete floor. To continue one would find an empty stage like area. That is where the area for civilians ended, from here there were well hidden doors, one of the many reasons the Baran Do had so almost nonexistent security. These doors would lead to corridors which would branch into the rest of the building. There was also a lounge with a single large monitor on one wall, again used for civilians particularly during storms but sometimes used for other means. The hiddden doors led to corridors which could take you to the rest of the building, training halls, classrooms, meditation rooms, living quarters, and dining halls. The combat training hall was simple, padded clothing on the wall for practice padded floors, staves for anyones use. It's small size made it barely able to be called a hall, only able to accommodate around four sparring members at a time. Thus many more experienced members practiced elsewhere, or only when they knew others would not be present. Outside behind the temple was a large paved ground where they once held the dying ceremonies, and also where the entrance to the Caverns of the Hidden One were. The considerable estate on which this is all layer allows the Sages to practice and meditate in peace easily whether they choose to be within the temple or out of it. Especially due to their considerably smaller numbers then originally, it is often easy to achieve being alone here.]
POINTS OF INTEREST
[ *The Caverns of the Hidden one: The place where the fuel for the dying ceremonies were once held has a secret entrance into vast underground tunnel systems. While this area has been almost entirely abandoned as it no longer serves a purpose, since the dying ceremony has been abandoned and they are no longer secretive, it still remains. Merely kept closed and hidden and would be an excellent point of escape should the need arise due to its depth and size.]

SECURITY
[ Low: While there is no official guards or security, not even of droids. And the only thing stopping entrance to the grounds is a transparasteel fence, and to the rest of it are hidden doors, the Sages (and particularly the investigators) stay very aware of outsiders. Though this has almost never resulted in conflict, sneaking in without someone sensing a presence is almost impossible. But the Baran Do are unlikely to risk their own lives to defend their home unless they are certain of success (though individuals may choose to do so)]

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
[ The Baran Do temple was formed many Millenia before they joined the Republic. It was made as the home and teaching house of the Baran Do sages, force users who were essentially prophets of natural disasters for some time. They had a heavy focus on meditation and foresight. These abilities also put them in political and advisory positions regularly. The building itself remained relatively unchanged for many years until the Baran Do numbers began to dwindle as more Kel Dorians joined the jedi rather then the Sages. And upon the rise of the Empire they decided they had to stay in hiding, creating the Dying Ceremony and the Caverns of the hidden one where those who "died" went to become hidden members and be certain to retain the knowledge the Sages had gathered and keep it safe should any choose to destroy them. This ritual however was dropped during their discovery and being convinced by Jedi to return again. And while the caverns were not filled or sealed off, nor was the location of the dying ceremony totally destroyed, they are mostly abandoned and no longer serve any purpose but one of history.]
