This lightsaber was originally crafted by Barad under the supervision of his master, Charo Tanu. As he grew and learned, he modified this lightsaber to better suit him and his needs. It's current iteration, down to the last detail, has been tailor-made for him and fashioned with components he gathered during his journey across the galaxy.
It's dual-phases compliment Barad's fighting style, allowing him to switch between forms and adapt to a battle as it changes. When he must face multiple enemies, he adopts a Shii-Cho stance and adjusts the length of the blade.
The fencing emitted aids him while using Djem So and the lorrdian gemstome while utulizing Shien. The ion energy cell - while deadly to organic opponents - is effective against droids, useful to a fighter like Barad who has few other answers to an inorganic foe.
Even the crystals are prefectly fitted for him, especially the dantari crystal. Both the dantari and katak crystals empower him and allow him to continue fighting for just a little longer, despite how much he has exerted himself. The upari crystal and adegan lens create a stronger, ideal blade for relentless attacks with employing Juyo and Vaapad.

- Dantari. The dantari crystal at the core of Barad's lightsaber can sometimes take the energy of combat and fuel his Force powers.

- Lorrdian Gemstone. The lorrdian gemstone inside Barad's lightsaber allows him to better predict the actions of his opponents. This, at least somewhat, compensates for the narrower blade and helps him to block blaster bolts.
- Narrow Blade. Because of the fencing emitter, the blade of Barad's lightsaber is narrower than average which makes it difficult to block blaster fire.
- Oh, It's A Lightsaber. Barad's lightsaber has the same weaknesses of other lightsabers. It can be impaired, damaged, and destroyed by any common methods someone might employ. It will short out if it is submerged in water or it's blade makes contact with cortosis and can be blocked by the myriad of lightsaber-resistant materials.
