Baktoid Investigation

Jaxton Ravos

Mindwalker of the Outer Rim
OOC: This is an open thread, but I'd prefer to have a manageable number of people in(Say 8 or less not including Omni/clockwork people), so please PM me before joining. Military and science types especially are invited, and faction isn't important, but don't feel uninvited.

IC:

Jaxton had been sent to the an outpost of Baktoid Industries that specialized in highly advanced theoretical AI applications to try to investigate Omni and the Clockwork Rebellion. It was an outpost of extremely powerful computers and droid production, and one of the first outposts to mysteriously 'go offline' when Coruscant. Shutting down the factory there was a secondary objective, but a notable one. For the first time however Jaxton was not sent on a Jedi Mission, but a military one. As a volunteer of new Jedi Militant organization he could be assigned to normal Republic Military operations now, and this was his first. When it was originally created he didn't envision many Jedi getting pulled for missions, but now that the whole Clockwork thing was going down it seemed every op had at least one Jedi.

It was a strange position. As the Jedi Militant didn't have any official 'ranks' per se, his official commander was an officer by the name of @Delilah Castillon. As Jaxton read the reports on the mission and the profiles of the soldiers coming with him he noticed that she had served with distinction on Hapes and Onderon he knew he was in qualified hands, but unofficially he wasn't sure what the precedence was on Jedi-Military relations. As a Jedi Knight he might have outranked the Major, but he didn't know. Either way, Jaxton wanted to play more of 'advisor' role in the dynamic, as she was much more experienced in combat.

The other member of their team that provoked Jaxton's interest was not a military member either, he was a cop from Coruscant. As Coruscant had fallen most of the surviving cops had been absorbed into the military under emergency circumstances, and @[member="Cody Walkins "]was no different. Notably though, Jaxton had met the man on Coruscant during the attack. Seemed like a bang-up officer, and it was nice for Jaxton to have a sort of 'intermediary' to help him into the military core other than his flashy sword or magic powers. Jaxton wanted to show that while he was a Jedi, he could be a soldier as well.

"Fifteen minutes to drop." Jaxton heard the pilot announce over the PA. It was almost time.

Delila had her eyes closed, her head resting against the durasteel of their transport. She wasn't sleeping-although that would have been nice due to the directions she had been pulled into lately. Now here she was on some crazy assignment to enter Baktoid Industries. When the Major had read the briefing she nearly laughed out loud, the higher ups were asking next to impossible to be honest. If she survived this....and that was a big if, Delila was going to take a long vacation. That was after the AI sweeping the Galaxy was gone. Who knew when that would happen?

So here she was with a Jedi and a law enforcement officer. Talk about the beginning of a bad joke. At least the assembled team was good, all veterans of some type of combat. This couldn't be pulled off with fresh-faced young kids.

Hearing the announcement, Delila opened her eyes and looked around. The woman worked her left shoulder, warming it up. After getting shot recently it still felt a little odd if she had been inactive for too long. Probably still healing, at the time the Medics had run low on bacta and other supplies so she didn't quite get the recommended treatment.

"You two ready? Its going to be one of those situations where we literally hit the round running."

A pink jedi? No maybe he was just light red, either way it was not a very jedi color. In fact, Cody was sure he had seen this particular pink behemoth somewhere else as well, besides the Grandmasters office before the attacks. Had he arrested him? No that was a stupid thought, when was a jedi ever arrested? Although he guess he had seen crazier things, but he was still skeptical of that fact. Still, this guy was familiar but he couldn't quite put his finger on it...oh well maybe it would come to him in time.

@[member="Delila Castillon"]

Then there was Delila, the woman he had had a few encounters with. Cody was glad she was here "Nice seeing you here Captain. And trust me, i'm always ready"

"Just say the word." Jaxton said to the Major @Delilah Castillon. In all honesty however, he had no idea if he was ready, because he had no idea what kind of monster-machines Omni would throw at them. What he did know was that he was going to do his best in order make sure the mission was completed and nobody got hurt. Jaxton pulled his lightsaber to his hand. As they got to the facility Omni would probably jam their sensors, meaning they'd have no idea what kind of resistance to expect. As a Jedi on the mission he'd be expected to perform well not just for the soldiers, but also as a representative of the Jedi Order.

"Five minutes to-" The pilot over the PA started before a large boom was heard and the ship began falling. They would have no drop it seemed, just a crash. Omni knew they were there.

"Hold still!" Jaxton said and began using his lightsaber to cut out soldiers from seat belts and other restrictions. They had to jump soon, before the ship crashed.

"We seem to keep bumping into each other Officer Walkins." Lately it seemed true, she had been seeing the same faces over and over on the battlefield. People were starting to be worn thin. In her opinion it was a dangerous situation....

She offered a smile smile to the Jedi when he said he was ready, just before their ship lost all power. Just kriffin' great. It was a bumpy ride and Delila wasn't prepared for the Jedi to release them-she was about to fumble for the vibroblade stuck in her boot. Saving them some time, Delila gathered herself and stood, using the bulkheads for stability as she made her way to the other side.

Hitting the emergency hatch release, the door flew away and it left the ground rapidly approaching. Personally she would have rode out the crash but the Jedi gave an indication he wanted to jump. No big deal. Seeing a scattering of buildings they could try for the roof.

"Try landing close to these buildings. Follow after me....remember to tuck and roll!"

Waiting for another handful of seconds, the Major threw herself out of the ship and hopefully near the spot she was hoping they got close to. She was planning on everything going wrong since it already was...

Clockwork Assassins
"Anomaly has been detected" Despair's voice mimicker slithered out like the voice of hell itself as it's red eyes scanned the sky for the ship that had entered their air space. The android had a face that looked like a metallic human skull with a helmet of titanium and cortosis that held three spikes that ran down the center of it. It was not long after that they saw the ship sore through the air and three shapes leap out of it. Already the hive mind between the three "brothers" was running through thousands of scenarios and decisions that could be mad.

They watched from a distance, their cybernetic eyes scanning them over with a variety of programs as they readied their decision "Profiles being retrieved." Destruction ground out like a growling beast as he matched the faces of each new contact with the infinite profile system that they had programmed into them throughout the centuries

"Walkins, Cody...Castillon, Delila....Ravos, Jaxton...force-user." Ascension spoke like the most human of the three, it's voice dark yet resembling that of an organic.

"Best approach of action?"

"Infection"

"Destruction"

"Capture"

The brothers verbalized the thinking process of the hive mind connection they all shared, but Ascension spoke of the final decision"Further analysis required...attack...test."

"Which unit?"

"All."

Oh yeah just follow her...he was sure that he wouldn't die to painfully. He watched as the major leap from the ship and he ran over to the ledge next, looking down at the ground with a bit of a turning stomach... "I didn't sign up for this bull- Cody cut himself off as he leap from the ship and attempted to land near Delila

Jaxton walked backed to the pilot after cutting out the other stuck soldiers, then picked him out of his chair and put him on his back, despite his protests. Jaxton ran to the back of the ship and jumped out, moving the man to the front of his body while he curled himself into a makeshift-ball. As he landed he put forth some telekinetic effort, but with his lack of talent in the area it only slowed them down slightly. Jaxton landed with a thud, but he and the pilot were both okay.

"Sorry. I'm no TK." Jaxton said as he stood up and popped his back. Jaxton took out a datapad and tried to find out their location. They were less than half a kilometer from where they were supposed to drop. It was only about a ten minute setback, but the difference between dropping in on Omni's base as a surprise and halving to walk over 400 meters to get there was huge. He turned to the Major @[member="Delila Castillon"] and Officer @Cody Walkins, who landed somewhat close to each other and made his way too them.

"We've got a little over 400 meters to drop target ma'm. I recommend we get over there soon, before we attract a larger welcoming party."

Delila had tucked and rolled as much as possible but it still hurt. Somehow she skinned her forearm pretty well. Shaking it off, she unsteadily got off the ground and quickly. Training had it drilled in her mind to get up and get up quick before the enemy shot you instead. The Officer had landed close to her position and she turned to make sure he was standing as the Jedi came closer to inform them how far off target they were.

"Lets get going then...stick to the shadows and alleys. Just follow me..."

Checking her A280 blaster rifle, Delila kept it in both of her hands as they took off. She was moving at a clipped jog, constantly stopping and checking corners or rooftops. Urban style warfare always, always put her on edge. It didn't help the droids had a 'home field advantage' and more technology than all three of them combined. Delila had stopped at one corner, peering around. It didn't look good, she saw the metallic reflection of a droid...

Looking to Jaxton and Cody, she motioned the two of them to circle around so they could take the thing by surprise.

((OOC note-Droid is probably not SIBLINGS but could be...))

Cody ran around the side of Delila and over to a position on the droids far left, bringing his 5th Patriot rifle to bare on the thing. He switched his rifle to fire the ion sniper rounds so that it had an increased affect on the bastard.

Jaxton moved swiftly and quietly to the opposite side of the police officers, heeding Delila's direction to turn around. Jaxton had not yet learned all of the military codes and signals, but he gathered what to do partially on instinct and partially based on what the police officer had done. He figured they were going to try and corner the droid and take him silently. He still hated that Omni primarily used droids, rendering his extra perception of the Force near useless. Stopping at a corner, he peered around and saw the droid, and saw it moving behind a spot of cover. Jaxton spotted a nearby trashcan and focused his mind, readying himself for telekinesis. It took him a little effort and time, but he pushed it over, making a loud clang. The droid retreated from his more defensible spot, and Jaxton returned to the edge of his corner, waiting to hear one of the squad take a shot.

Waiting just a moment, Delila fired quickly, hitting the droid in the back, destroying its control panel. Giving herself a small smile, she moved along the building slowly, looking for any more signs of droids. Nothing, listening all she heard was her own breathing. That bothered her....an industrial area should not be that quiet. Tucking the information into her brain, Delila moved down a second alley. They were close to the Baktoid plant now.

She stopped to observe, noticing many cameras. Probably more they couldnt see. Just their luck, the three needed to get in quickly too. That droid was probably sending back data remotely. Someone would investigate why it no longer was.

"Camera city..." Delila whispered to the two men. "I could blast out a few, let you two go ahead. Create enough distraction to get in"

"No wait!" Cody said as he opened the gauntlet on his armours forearm "I might be able to regain acess to the camera control mainframe of the district and shut them down, perhaps even set them on playback." Cody began furiously typing away.

Jaxton saw the Major @[member="Delila Castillon"] take the shot, destroying the droid. He followed her around the alleyways in quick bursts from corner to corner, checking visually to see if there were any targets.

"Camera city... I could blast out a few, let you two go ahead. Create enough distraction to get in" The Major said to Jaxton as they went along, and sure enough they were everywhere. It was probably how Omni saw their ship coming in, from one of these cameras but closer. Jaxton felt useless in this situation, being unable to sense the lifeless droids an unable to fire at a range, he couldn't do anything about the cameras. Jaxton was about to speak in favor of the plan, as he trusted the Major to come back and he felt he'd be more useful against a horde, but then @[member="Cody Walkins "]began to speak.

"No wait!" The officer began as he started messing with his fore-arm. "I might be able to regain acess to the camera control mainframe of the district and shut them down, perhaps even set them on playback."

"There's no point, they already know we're here, so they already know where we're going. We'll be fighting droids soon enough." Jaxton said and took a sprint to the next sign of cover, and began peering around the corner to see what lay ahead. Surely enough there a squad of old L8-L9 droids were walking towards them.

"We've got company." Jaxton told the two and readied his attack.

@[member="Jaxton Ravos"] | @Cody Walkins

Delila didn't like standing around just waiting for the cop to try to hack into the system. Waiting around meant a person was a sitting target, ripe for the picking. She was about to open her mouth and urge Cody to hurry up or forget it when Jaxton mentioned they had been spotted and it wouldn't matter. Very true, but to a point. Hearing they had company, Delila looked to Cody.

[color=#ff660]"Jedi Ravos and I will cover you. Time is ticking....can you knock out the camera feed so at least they can't track us as easily?"[/color]

Delila moved in short bursts from corner to corner, setting up on the other side of Jaxton and up slightly. Adjusting the heavy blaster, Delila fired quickly, going for as many head shots as possible. The easy way would be to throw in a grenade but she was saving those for once they got inside. Would be more useful. With each burst of fire, Delila stopped and moved, trying to avoid the bolts the droids kept throwing at her. In this situation it wasn't best to just camp behind a wall. Droids weren't that dumb.
