The Bluth plant had been the first thing Azzie made sure to get. Days ago, even. It sat now in a curved ceramic pot on the kitchen counter with everything else, its pale white petals curling outward like soft laughter. The scent wasn't quite right. It looked perfect, a small glow at the thin petals in the light of the ship's overheads, but the sweetness was muted. Watered-down. Probably grown in a Coreward greenhouse instead of Iridonia's harsh soil. She inhaled anyway. It was close enough and should still do nicely.

Everything else was ready, or at least what she could get her hands on anyway. Her fingers tapped the edge of the mixing bowl absently, nerves threading into the movement. Out in the common room, the bottle waited—deep red glass catching the light like a ruby. Two glasses beside it, angled just so on the polished table. She'd debated getting something cheaper. Less presumptuous. But in the end, she picked the good stuff. She also made sure to have a couple good tea types as well. Nights like this deserved it. The cushions were fluffed, the holoprojector flickered with soft ambient light, and she'd even lit a few candles for the smell and atmosphere.

Cinnamon gave a trill from the couch, curled up like a tiny, smug queen in a pile of pillows. Azzie shot her a look. "Don't start with me, you butthead. I just got all of your fur out of the air vents." Sugar—chaotic, round, and full of boundless energy—bounced excitedly at her feet as if she had some wrappings or other garbage to hand over. "And you, hold your banthas. Stars, you two."

The evening air on Tython was still and cool, brushing against Eve’s cheeks as she stood just outside the ship’s entrance. One hand cradled a canvas bag filled with ingredients—dried fruit, flour, spices from Eshan—and the other held a small chip. It was an adaptation of some novel by Lady Velvet. She hadn’t read the book, nor anything by Lady Velvet, but she seemed to be popular, and the cover looked romantic and vaguely whimsical. Hopefully it wasn’t wildly inappropriate.

Isari sat patiently beside her, silver eyes reflecting the soft glow of the landing lights. Her tail curled neatly around her paws, but Eve could feel the soft hum of curiosity through their bond. It made her smile.

She glanced at the closed hatch. Her heart fluttered, not with nerves exactly, but a quiet anticipation. It had been too long since she and Azzie had a night like this—just them, away from war and worry. A night of sweetness, stories, and sisterhood.

She lifted a hand and knocked gently—three light taps against the hull.

Then she waited.

Isari gave a soft huff and nudged her leg.

"I know," Eve murmured with a grin. "I’m excited too."

Thump-thump-thump.

Azzie's head snapped up from Sugar at the soft tapping. She quickly opened the hatch before another knock could ring out. Eve stood on the ramp, the evening sunset casting a soft glow across everything around, a canvas bag in one hand and a data chip in the other. Isari pressed close at her side, silver eyes bright as the flicker of glowbugs.

Azzie grinned and leaned lazily against the doorframe. "Look what the nexu dragged in! You bring me scandalous fiction or just your sparkling personality?" She teased, stepping aside with a sly grin that threatened to spill over into laughter. She brushed a stray lock of black hair back behind her ear and motioned her friend inside. Only then did she move to wrap the younger padawan into a tight hug while Sugar bounded up to Ishari with his stupid little grin and dopy black eyes like an overly excited bouncing ball.

The cool Tython air was left behind for the cozy glow of hololights and candlelight. "Make yourself at home. The kitchen is over towards the bow, but I made sure I boiled a pot of tea for you already. Let's face it, if we start with the fancy champagne, we'll end up with some pretty wrecked cookies."

Eve blinked at Azzie’s greeting, cheeks going a little pink.

"S-scandalous?" she stammered, glancing down at the holovid chip in her hand as though it might suddenly sprout an explanation. "I… I don’t think so? I, uh, hope not…" In truth, she had no idea what she had brought, but it looked... romantic?

The fluster passed as quickly as it came. A warm smile bloomed across her face as she stepped forward and melted into Azzie’s hug. She leaned in, breathing in the familiar scent of Azzie’s hair, and let her eyes fall closed for a heartbeat longer than necessary.

"I’m really glad to see you," she murmured softly, voice edged with quiet relief. It was true. Seeing Azzie upright, teasing and grinning, lit something gentle in Eve’s chest that had been wound too tight for too long. As they pulled apart, she let out a small laugh.

"Tea sounds perfect."

She held up the canvas bag, shaking it lightly so the contents rustled.

"I'll take these to the kitchen. I brought some fruit, extra chocolate and… um… some kind of spice that smelled nice. Thought we could experiment a bit maybe."

With Isari trotting at her heels and Sugar bounding in dizzy loops around them both, Eve grinned and took a step further into the ship’s warm interior… only to pause mid-stride, a frown creasing her brow.

"The bow... The... bow..." she echoed, baffled. "Where's… Where’s that, exactly?" she said, embarrassed. She cast Azzie a slightly helpless look, as though hoping for rescue. "I, uh... don't know... ships."

Azzie couldn't quite keep herself from laughing as she set out cups across the coffee table set in front of the rather large couch. "I'm going to assume you haven't actually read a Lady Velvet romance yet. Oh boy! You're in for a treat, then."

She moved the tea filter from the pot, immediately dumping it onto Sugar as the sludge spawn bounded on by, which got absorbed happily. A living garbage disposal complete with a dopey little smile. Cinnamon, however, was less than impressed, approaching Ishari with a more cautious sniff of the air from her position nestled in the couch cushions.

"The bow? You know, the front of the ship?" Azzie started, almost nonchalantly, at least until the genuine confusion radiating off of Eve's aura finally clicked as she spoke. "Oh, okay, so ships meant for water tend to follow some of the same directional cues, if you know those. Bow is the front," she gestured across the quite large open area that was the main deck to where the viewing port as well as the main console system was located. Slightly to the left was a set of half stairs downward that went directly into a large, full kitchen.

She then pointed behind her towards where they'd come in. "Stern is the back. If you ever hear me say port, that's to the left, and starboard would be the right. The easiest way to remember that one is "port" and "left" both have four letters." Azzie flashed a playful grin and made a quick mental note that she'd have to spend some time in the future giving Eve some basic piloting lessons.
