Private Back to the Start

Life just wasn't fair! First, her father had died, her younger sister left them all, and then her mother had essentially abandoned her. After that, her Jedi Master also disappeared, and her uncle never picked her up after her trials on his world. Eventually, the young woman found her way off of Veradune and left her former life behind. Nitya had no interest in rekindling a relationship with any of her blood, and she sought out a new future for herself. The thing was, she didn't know where to begin...

Little did the girl know she was almost following in her mother's footsteps—maybe not to the same places, but certainly along a similar path. Leaving the Jedi and Alliance and heading to the southern part of the Galaxy, she traveled by public transport. If her family wanted to find her, she did not hide her identity, but she didn't think they would even care. She knew she didn't.

She climbed off the transport and headed into the first shop with nothing to her name. She wanted to have a new life, so she figured she needed to learn how to work and make a living. Fate had other plans for her, but she didn't realize this. A little time passed, and she had a little experience working. Turning as a customer entered the shop, Nitya greeted him.

"Welcome to Curious Supplies. How can I help you?"

When her glowing eyes met his, she stopped moving. There was something about this man that was different from anybody else she had met. Unable to put her finger on it, she figured things would be revealed to her in time.

“Curious Supplies” an interesting name for an interesting place. Darth Reign, Sith Lord and master of the Diarchy had quite literally stumbled upon it, but had thought it had been a good place to get a memento for his daughters. He always tried to bring them something back from his journeys. Especially when he was far afield, it had been a meeting with some financier about mineral rights from Taspir. But he needed a break and this small shop was perfect.

Stepping into the store he was greeting by someone that caught him off guard. Both physically and through their presence in the force. Her eyes are what caught the Sith Lord, glowing yellow, in some ways similar to his own, just without the corruption of the Dark Side. And in the Force, loss and disappointment weighed heavily in her presence.

“Thank you! I’m hoping you can point me in the direction of something for my daughters.” he said while studying the young woman. Perhaps the Dark Lord would be able to dig deeper as they walked the shop.

"How old are your daughters? We have various objects for different age groups."

Momentarily thinking of her younger sister, Nitya wondered if she ever thought of her anymore. This was something to consider later. Right now, she needed to focus on her customer and get him special gifts for his daughters.

"What are their interests?"

There were a few answers she needed before she could help this man. Nitya knew he was looking at her and thought it was most likely because of her eyes. The glowing yellow sometimes threw people off and even drove them away. She had thought about using the Force to hide their appearance like her mother did but had decided it best for her to be just as she was. If a person didn't accept that, they could go kark off, which wouldn't bother her.

Once he gave her the answers, she would guide him to the area of the store that would provide him with the perfect gifts. At least, she hoped they would be ideal.

Reign stopped his studying while he thought of his daughters.

“The oldest is sixteen, the younger one is thirteen.” he said with a soft smile. He did love his girls. “my older daughter is very studious, she likes to train her mind more than anything. Her younger sister is the opposite, never still and always searching for the next challenge.”

he studied the young woman before him again. She was not much older than his girls. He thought he caught a flicker of force potential in her too.

“tell me, what brought you to work here?”

The raven-haired young woman listened to Reign describe his daughters and made mental notes about them. They sounded very much like her and her sister. They were about the same age and had pretty much the same interests. Dreidi was the more physical of the two, and Nitya was the studious one, not that either of her parents or former master.

Taking the lead, she guided her customer to a wall of books and kits. Reaching out a hand, her fingernails were kept quite short but very sharp. She gently pulled a box off the wall and held it to him.

"This is a potential subscription box. The one here is like an introduction to what the company offers. Each month, a new box comes out, providing different things from cultures across the galaxy. Anywhere from history lessons to recipes...with the ingredients included."

There were interesting trinkets for challenges in another section of the store, and Nitya led him in that direction unless he stopped her. Once again, she reached out gently and took three items out of a case.

"These are juggling sticks. That might not sound challenging, but you should see some of the tricks that can be done with these. I only know a few beginner moves."

Holding them out to Reign, she wondered why he asked what brought her here. Shrugging her shoulders slightly, she considered her answer before speaking.

"We all need to make our credits somehow."

While it was the truth, it wasn't the whole story. He didn't need to know that, though.
