  • Incredible defenses for a ship of its size.
  • Not much larger than a TIE Interceptor.
  • Relatively cheap to manufacture thanks to the use of pre existing parts.
  • Small crew of only two people.
WEAKNESSES
  • Very slow for a fighter.
  • Quite unmaneuverable for a fighter.
  • No ordinance launchers or the ability to equip ordinance.
  • Requires parts from three different vehicles.
  • Unable to equip astromech droids.

DESCRIPTION

If necessity is the mother of invention, then desperation must be the father, as is evident by the existence of the AX-Wing. Few would ever consider an AT-AT capable of flight, and fewer still would try to make that flight happen. Yet this is exactly what the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant has done. By combining an AT-AT cockpit with the wings of a TIE Interceptor and the engines of an X-Wing, Mahporeem has created an "ugly" fighter concept that has never been seen or tried before.

For such a slow and ungainly spacecraft, the AX-Wing is surprisingly effective in combat. This is due to the AX-Wing retaining the excellent armament found on an AT-AT and combining it with the shielding and sensor jamming systems of an X-Wing starfighter. The resulting craft is exceptionally durable for a ship of its size, and is capable of enduring immense punishment while being able to dish out damage of its own.

Of course, AT-ATs were never truly meant to fly, and this is reflected in the vehicle's rather poor performance. No matter the number of engines that are strapped to the cockpit or type the of power plant used on the ship, the AX-Wing will never be capable of reaching high speeds or executing tight maneuvers. Of course, with its level of weapons and armor, it does not necessarily need to do so to survive...
