Aurelius Morday is a chemically imbalanced chemist whose daily functioning is controlled by the medication he knows all too much about. He consistently worries about the possibility of passing his bipolar disorder onto his daughter and endeavors to use his knowledge of medicine to help others. Having been left by his spice-addicted partner, he struggles financially and turns to illegal activities to make ends meet. He works as a pharmacist and healer in the Outer Rim during the day and cooks spice by night. He is compassionate in his intentions to help others and raise his child while maintaining no mercy for needlessly cruel individuals. He is frustrated over the incurable nature of his severe illness and is disillusioned with alchemy as a craft that cannot heal impossible afflictions despite the legends told.
Aurelius is irritable and crude when stressed, not bothering with courtesy when dealing with uncooperative customers. He is remarkably gentle towards individuals who are seriously hurt or in need. Empathetic to a fault, his emotions are highly attuned and he is driven to help others even in inappropriate or dangerous circumstances. He is impulsive when manic and works tirelessly, becoming foul-tempered and bothered when he is not occupied. He is medicated on lithium but cannot stand the side effects and stops taking it abruptly, making his symptoms worse as a result. His medication causes him to become focused and cold and he dislikes how this affects his empathy. He is highly stubborn and impossible to teach, taking advice from nobody else other than his psychiatrist, which is only some of the time.
Aurelius desires to one day serve a Force order as an alchemist, having been held back by his mental illness and internal conflict over his place in the galaxy. Despite how hard he works, he is consistently incapable of forming long term decisions and simply moves from one task to the next on a whim. He lacks the patience to comprehend the effects of his actions and reels when the cost is great. He comfort eats when he is depressed or stressed and blames his weight problem on his medication. He is energetic, jovial and physically affectionate on a daily basis and greatly social. He loves industrial music and draws disturbing pictures when experiencing low moods. He has a hardened exterior and tries to not to allow his emotional turmoil to interfere with his professional life, while not always managing to do so.
Strengths
A powerful Force user and a brilliant alchemist, Aurelius is educated in conventional science and possesses a deep knowledge of chemistry and medicine. He is trained to heal with alchemy and can administer medicine to patients. He is a strong individual and difficult to intimidate, rarely backing down from a verbal confrontation. Aurelius can transmute surrounding matter to create poisonous gas or corrosive liquid if threatened with a combative situation. He can augment oxygen with reactive gasses to create explosions and turn objects into razor sharp implements.
Weaknesses
Aurelius has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder type II and is noticeably overweight. He is incapable of hand to hand combat and his focus in the Force revolves entirely around transforming matter. He is impulsive and makes poor decisions based on his emotions, regretting the consequences later. This includes promiscuous behavior and attempting procedures which he is not qualified to perform. He cannot commit to long term decisions and frequently changes his goals based on a whim. He is unrefined and rude when angered and has no tolerance for excessive cruelty. He suffers from insomnia and sleeps very short hours. Aurelius is hyperactive and exhausts himself to the point of fatigue. During episodes of depression, he becomes dysfunctional and displays no interest in the work which he would usually enjoy. Born on the industrial waste planet of Raxus Prime, the young Aurelius displayed a keen interest in science from a young age. The rivers of toxic substances provided fascination and study for the aspiring chemist who took to experimenting in the streets. He was raised in a lower class district by his divorced mother who treated him harshly and offered very little affection as a parent. As he grew older, Aurelius decided for himself that his mother thought of him as an accident. He was mercilessly bullied throughout school and became deeply unhappy, running away from home to sit at the edge of a nearby bridge for hours on end. He was medicated on anti-depressants which triggered his hyperactivity and during his late teens, maintained a part time job at a pharmacy.
During periods of impulsive behavior, Aurelius engaged in illegal activities to support his mother. He sold prescription medication outside of work and learned to cook spice. He graduated from high school and studied chemistry and medicine at the Raxus University while maintaining his spice dealing with secrecy. Aurelius failed to complete his education and was expelled from the university, not for cooking spice, but for assaulting a user of elemental magic. He was arrested and bailed out of jail by his mother, blaming his actions on his medication. WIP.
