OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
- Intent: To create a way to vary and customize clones
- Restricted Missions: N/A
- Primary Source: N/A
- Name: Fortis
- Manufacturer: Luxarc Biomedicals
- Homeworld (optional): N/A
- Production: Mass
- Affiliation: Closed-Market
- Modularity: No
- Legal Status: Primarily Legal, dependent on governing authority.
- Ingredients: Viral Protein Delivery, Genetic Sequencing Hormones
- Classification: Drug
- Method of Consumption: Inducement of liquid-form drug to the cloning cylinder.
- Average Life: Actively rewrites developmental genetic code over the course of several days as base features develop. Although the chemical works its way through the body fairly quickly, the effects are permanent with regards to the development of the individual.
- Nutritional Value/Allergies/Side Effects/ Purpose: No. Late dosage results in wasting of the substance, as it is designed to work only on specific individuals in the first phase of their development. No trials were performed on expectant mothers, and trials only performed in Spartii clone cylinders: significant alterations could lead to death of host, developmental unit, both, or violent side effects. When used on non-humanoid clones, invariably results in fatal genetic defects or no effect.
- Clone Developmental Alteration
This drug, designed to be administered to prenatal clones in the earliest stages of their development, causes a dramatic shift in the development. Certain parts of the brain and neural receptors are, by design, underdeveloped, while certain hormones are overproduced. This results in the creation of a being that lives and dies for one purpose: to be the ideal soldier.
Strengths:
- Incredible Might: Physically, Fortis-mod clones are far more imposing than the average humanoid. They are tall, strong, naturally muscular, and with training they can achieve heights of might previously only attainable to cyborgs and Force-users. Thick-skinned and broad-shouldered, it takes only one glance to tell that they were created to be the ideal solder.
- Fall in Line: Mentally, areas regarding personal expression, disobedience, rebellion, and other such undesirable, creative thoughts have been left to wither. These clones will unquestioningly obey orders from those they know as their superiors, exactly to the spirit and letter without a second thought or hesitation.
- Juggernaut: Pain receptors are underdeveloped in the clones, as are receptors of hunger, thirst, and fear. They suffer these as normal, but are more capable of enduring them than the average individual. It is important, however, to ensure that the clones feed themselves, drink, and tend their injuries -- if they do not on their own, they suffer unconscious degradation in performance.
- Rapid Maturation: The hormonal effects mean that the clone can reach adult maturity as early as two standard weeks with no risk of Clone Madness.
- Weak Sensitivity: No clone so modified can ever be opened to the Force. Warped in both mind and body, they are too distant from the natural order, and too weak-willed to grasp such energies.
- Force Vulnerability: Fortis-mod clones are acutely vulnerable to Mind Tricks and illusions due to having brains structured for compliance. The lack of fear likewise means that even basic self-preservation instincts may be overriden by a sufficiently skilled wielder of the power.
- Uncreative: Due to having restructured brains, the clones have little ability to adapt, and no voalition to take action not ordered to.
- Brutish: If left on their own without a guiding authority, they are likely to grow unduely restless, likely acting increasingly animalistically in terms of attempts to assert dominance over one another with violence or other means. It is recommended that, when not deployed, they be given excercises to do and a regimented schedule.
- Short-Lived: Due to congenital heart and spinal defects from increased growth and muscular tension, it is estimated that Fortis-mod clones live only one-quarter of the length standard humanoids are able to live.
Bioprospecting requires a certain amount of danger. When the prospecting is taking place in volatile, violent locales like the jungles of Felucia, or the corrupted, alchemical forests of Malachor, then it becomes even more dangerous. That means that scientists need bodyguards, aides, people to hunt down the rarest genetic strains and bring them in by force for usage in a growing line of advanced bioproducts.
Naturally, this couldn't be kept under wraps -- it had to be monetized.
Although initially given a lengthy name, filled with numbers, the new marketing and management decided that Aur1 "Fortis" was the ideal name for this behavioral and physiological modification designed to be administered to developing clones. Fed into Spartii cylinders at an early age, it creates brutal troopers useful for operating under the direction of the keen minds they are taught from birth to respect.
The humane nature of such warping is debatable, but the clones themselves are made as such from birth, and take a simple, almost childish joy in following orders and inflicting violence, acting like a group of children exuberantly playing 'soldier' rather than a group of deadly, trained soldiers. Nicknamed "smilers" by those who run up against them regularly, they are known to grin, laugh, or jibe with one another in the middle of the most deadly situations, seemingly unable to register a genuine, profound sort of fear.
The chemical was released with intent to market to the Imperial Remnant and First Order, two factions known to make use of clone soldiers, but is open to all interested buyers.
