ADVANCED SYSTEMS
Broad Spectrum Sensor Jammer
Computerized Combat Predictor

Strengths:
  • Multiple redundant power systems and hyperdrives increases the ability to escape from sticky situations
  • Can operate for extended periods of time on its own with little or no resupplying
  • Can effectively hide itself from enemy ships
Weaknesses:

  • Defenses are weaker than a standard ship of its size
  • Broad spectrum jamming can provide an indication the ship is present
  • Jamming affects the Attrition itself
  • Has a bridge tower, an obvious vulnerable spot
  • Ship can be visually seen, detected through the use of a crystal grav-field trap, or through magnetic sensors
Description: The Obscurity was originally a specialized light star destroyer operated by the former Sith Lord known as Darth Ayra. Designs of the ship were given to Circe Savan, then head of Subach(later to become Emeritus and Ri'ess-Emeritus), and a smattering of vessels following the base class design were manufactured for the New Order. The design was briefly manufactured for the Confederacy of Independent Systems before it disappeared from the galaxy following Subach's corporate disputes within the CIS.

With Vanessa Vantai's entry into the fold of the Sith Empire, the Attrition was redesigned, keeping the same core design features - 1200 meter length, cast duranium frame for ease of manufacturing, and adamithium-durasteel composite for the hull plates. Minor adjustments were made to the antimatter reactors, originally 2:1 in the Attrition, to allow for them to be more safely run with less matter - the additional matter in question is a 'dampener' for the matter-antimatter reaction in the event of a breach or excess dumping of antimatter into the reactor chamber. The heavy mass driver batteries were removed, replaced with more turbolaser and ion cannon batteries. The original concussion missile launchers were replaced with general purpose warhead tubes to allow for a far wider variety of ordnance to be used on them, and point defense cannons were added to increase anti-fighter and anti-warhead protection.

Two systems of note exist on the Attrition IIL - a broad spectrum sensor jammer, intended to prevent detection from long and short-range sensors, and a computerized combat predictor, added to ensure the ship can destroy asteroids or other debris within the pathway of the ship. traditional usage of the Attrition consists of performing a sensor sweep of the area, feeding the location, speed, and trajectory of any asteroids or debris within a large area to the computerized combat predictor. The ship is then preprogrammed with waypoints and the broad spectrum jammers are activated. The ship then follows the waypoints while the CCP controls the Attrition's guns, engaging any debris or asteroids that come too close to the ship's hull. This ability to remain relatively quiet, coupled with an eighteen month store of fuel, ammunition, and provisions, allows the Attrition to function as a long-term exploratory vessel within uncharted systems or enemy territory. This partial automation is exceedingly important given the fact that the jamming from the Attrition affects its own systems as well. The resulting 'noise' of the jamming, picked up over comm systems, sounds similar to a ground vehicle, or a woodpecker. Though it does its job, the level of sensor jamming inflicted on enemy ships clearly indicates to enemy ships that an Attrition is within their general area.

Please list this as 5 squadrons (If you want to detail the type of squadron afterwards, that should be fine).

Hibridium cloaking device

From the Starship Rules post:

  1. Particularly rare or powerful special features may necessitate using a lower production (for example, cloaking technology, gemcutters, crystal gravtraps, equivalent stealth or anti stealth technologies, or rare canon technologies and their equivalents will only be permitted at Semi Unique production)
This will have to be at semi-unique production.

Depending on how strong this is, we may run into the same issue. How strong is this jammer? If this is "fluff" or long-range sensor scans, we should be okay.

At minor production, some of the ratings are going to have to come down. We can either lower two ratings or remove a single fighter squadron to balance this.

Jammer is strong enough to prevent the ship from being seen on sensors, though the intensity of the jamming makes its presence pretty obvious and it can be easily seen. Also, removed one of the fighter squadrons.

I guess given that it's broad spectrum jamming, the jamming would be effective at long and short range - though given the fact that it's a 1200m ship and painted a color that stands out against the blackness of space, a keen set of eyes are all that's needed to no longer make it hidden.

I think this is going to look a bit conflicting to the general reader.

I'm going to guess that this works in a very similar manner to the full-spectrum disortion projector found on the 4x Phantom-class Sensor Jammer. If that is the case, I'd probably clarify that the sensor jammer makes it difficult to ascertain what is present (aside from visual spotting, whether by eye or optical magnification sensor), but there are very obviously going to be a lot of strange signals originating from the jammer that are going to show up on most sensor scopes.

[member="Vanessa Vantai"], edits look good.

I just put in the stats in the spread sheet, and I got the "seems slightly overpowered" result. It looks like this will be fixed by reducing either one rating or a single fighter squadron.
