The Lady of Deceit
"I am the lie they will love."
ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE
Atramentum's structure is built not on traditional military ranks or open orders of succession, but on layers of veiled authority, each defined by their function, knowledge access, and degree of doctrinal transformation. Each level is more than a rank—it is a stage in the process of ideological refinement and submission to the Rewrite Doctrine.
THE DYAD
The Dyad is the absolute pinnacle of Atramentum—two figures cloaked in myth, shrouded in silence, and feared even by those who serve them. Known only as the Lady of Deceit and the Lord of Shadow, they are not generals, politicians, or prophets—they are architects of belief, authors of the Rewrite Doctrine, and the source from which all Atramentum flows. To most, they are rumors. To the Inner Circle, they are commands. When they speak, it is through ciphered glyphs and encoded rites. When they act, empires tilt quietly out of alignment. Together, they embody the dual principle Atramentum is built upon: the lie that reshapes reality, and the silence that ensures no one questions it.
OOCly: These are the two faction founders or narrative leads. They help set tone, push storylines forward, and orchestrate major arcs. The Dyad may change in time—because Atramentum is not eternal. It evolves.
THE INNER CIRCLE
The Inner Circle is the beating black heart of Atramentum—its most elite, secretive, and powerful echelon. Composed of a small handful of operatives personally chosen by the Lady of Deceit and the Lord of Shadow, these individuals do not follow orders—they interpret the will of the Dyad and shape how Atramentum moves through the galaxy. Each Inner Circle member governs a personal Dominion—a sphere of influence shaped not by assignment, but by their unique talents, philosophies, and obsessions. Sorcerers, infiltrators, philosophers, assassins, visionaries: no two are alike, and that's the point. They are doctrine-bearers and doctrine-breakers alike, rewriting the rules as they spread Atramentum's reach. When they speak, even other leaders listen.
OOCly: This is the rank for senior writers who shape faction direction through arcs, events, and mentorship. These writers often run threads, write major lore developments, or act as narrative antagonists in faction storylines.
MANUS OBSCURA
The Manus Obscura—the Hidden Hand—are the infiltrators, manipulators, and sorcerers of Atramentum. They do not wage open war or deliver dramatic ultimatums—they corrupt from within, dismantling institutions, rewriting doctrines, and shaping belief systems until their enemies serve Atramentum without ever realizing they've been compromised. Each Manus agent is a master of infiltration, deception, and psychological warfare, often embedded deep within governments, cults, corporations, or Force orders. Some pose as scholars, advisors, or archivists. Others shape entire planetary religions with carefully altered scripture. All operate under strict ideological discipline and shadowed purpose. Their power lies not in being seen—but in being believed.
Their structure includes:
- Obscurarch – Head of the Manus, rarely seen, feared even within
- Praeceptor – Master agents and senior instructors
- Exscriptor – Active field operatives and corrupted scholars
- Palimpsest – Initiates learning the ways of the sorcerous lie
THRENATHI
The Threnathi are Atramentum's silent executioners—the unseen knives that remove obstacles before anyone knows they were there. They are pure, disciplined assassins, trained not in the flashy arts of battlefield glory, but in precision, silence, and finality. Where the Manus Obscura corrupts and rewrites, the Threnathi erase. They eliminate threats to the Rewrite Doctrine, protect Atramentum's secrecy, and dismantle targets with ruthless efficiency. Whether slipping into fortress halls, staging accidents in political courts, or vanishing defectors in the night, the Threnathi leave no traces—only quiet gaps in memory and power. To most within Atramentum, they are myths. To those who defy the Dyad, they are the last thing they'll never see.
Every confirmed kill, sabotage, or operation earns points toward internal prestige. These are not public accolades—they are recorded in sealed archives known only to the Dyad and the Inner Circle. A Threnathi's status is measured not by declarations but by the weight of their silence.
They are judged by:
- The significance of the target (e.g. Jedi Master vs. bureaucrat vs. blowing up a bridge)
- The subtlety of the kill (Did it spark a war? Was it called suicide?)
- The ideological impact (Did it advance the Rewrite?)
- The aftermath (Was the mission clean or dirty? Did it destabilize opposition?)
OOCly: The Threnathi are perfect for writers who enjoy structured assassin RP. The point system gives players a sense of progression based on IC achievements—whether that's executing Jedi, dismantling local resistance, or framing a senator. Your story can span subtle murder, infiltration, and the art of leaving nothing behind.
VELATI
The Velati are the initiates of Atramentum—the unshaped, the unproven, and the unfinished. They are not students. They are not recruits. They are raw material, selected by the Dyad or their agents for their potential to become something far more dangerous. Once chosen, a Velatus is stripped of all prior identity, belief, and purpose. Their history is erased. Their future is unwritten. What follows is a brutal and deeply secretive transformation process—an ordeal of psychological conditioning, doctrinal immersion, and ritual dissolution. Some break. Some vanish. But those who survive do not merely ascend. They are reborn as instruments of the Rewrite.
OOCly: This is the entry rank for all characters. Velati arcs can involve internal conflict, indoctrination, training, missions, or betrayal. You can join openly or start as an outsider gradually drawn in.
