Battle Prowess: Due to the shaping enlisted upon both skin, mind, and muscle, Maalik is an extremely capable fighter with both Vong weapons and contemporary forms of combat, including technology and lightsabers. His expertise provides the illusion of force abilities, capable of combating knights.
Battle-Hardened: Like the Slayer caste that precedes him, the skin covering this warrior is hardened against damage.
Ship-ready: Time spent on cargo vessels has made him a capable crewmen. Additionally, he's learned the capacity for equipment use up and including common technological weaponry.
Quiet: Maalik is often slow to speak and even slower to divulge information. A character trait learned through confinement in the belly of cargo vessels, he often keeps to himself and prefers the company of ghosts and indoctrinated dogma.
Close-minded: Maalik originates from the duality of two cultures: Vong and Chiss. From the Vong, he has been indoctrinated to believe the Chiss are weak. Changing his mind on matters such as these are difficult at best.
Unrelenting: Particularly when he sets his mind to something, compromise becomes a foreign notion.
Appearance:
Maalik is an odd figure of Chiss. While he maintains the skin tone, hair color, and general eye color, his body is marred in scars and forced expressions of inking and tattoos. Shaped by Shapers of the Legion Yun'Do, Maalik's skin was replaced with a form of body armor similar to his original skin but resistant to damage. The tones shift from dark blue to pallid gray, indicating excessive damage. While he typically wears no armor, he does tend to garb in an armorweave cloak to avoid unneeded confrontation. He also has no issue disguising himself in more contemporary Chiss outfits, if needed. Since taking up work as a crew member for cargo vessels, he often wears common apparel.
Biography:
Atham'aali'kema was born to a lower serving family on Csilla. Early in life, he had ambitions to serve the military as a Clawcraft pilot. Prior to the claiming of Csilla by the One Sith, Maalik drifted into the darkness of space, in search of an active agency for his perceived abilities. Any form of ambition or thoughts of greatness were stripped clean from the bones as he crashed upon Selvaris.
It was there that the technology loving Chiss found the cold embrace of the Yuuzhan Vong as something particularly unnerving. From the beginning, it was their intent to merely kill the man for his blasphemous ways. However, after being noted as force sensitive by the ruling Warmaster, it was decided that the Slayer regime, formerly known as the Shimrras Jeedai, would be revitalized with this initial candidate. Through a rigorous and painful process of both molding the mind and the body, Maalik was changed into something that shared no discrete similarities with his former self. Holding no allegiances to the Chiss Ascendancy, he initiated the continuation of the Slayer Caste through selective casting from the population of Selvaris.
During this time, he trained with both Vong weaponry and contemporary means of warfare, studying the tactical notions of war from the integration of qahsa with his own mind. With the expanse of information available to him, he bettered himself through studious learning and physical training. It was there that he learned the importance of the forms of lightsaber combat, though he claims mastery over none. Merely, he uses the augmentation provided through the shaping to Slayer caste in order to create the illusion of mastery, particularly over Form II.
Having ascended to an apex level of combat, even besting multiple renown warriors within the Legion Yun'Do, Maalik was given the opportunity to branch out from Selvaris and serve the Vong in more prominent and potentially damaging manners. However, that quickly changed as the One Sith and the Legion Yun'Do became nothing more than fabled failures of the past. Since that time period, he has wondered through the universe, seeking out opportunity to learn and progress. What originally began a simple and naive creature soon became something more mature, hardened and learned through life's successes and failures.
On his first opportunity, he took on a position as a defender for a merchant crew out of Coruscant. It made sense to him as the One Sith was once so heavily invested in the planet and it's future. Dealing in legal and illegal cargo, he began to learn what it was to be more than a tool for a massive faction. As a secondary crew component, he took on the role of quiet intimidation. Allowing his appearances to speak for themselves, he sought a peaceful life of futility, absent any grandiose schemes or purposes.
War had changed him. And not in the way the Vong might have wanted.
