Squadron Count: 4

Passenger Capacity: 50 Storm Troopers or Other ground troops. If HEC is uninstalled and a vehicle complement is on board the reduce the passenger capacity appropriately due to the size of the vehicles.

Cargo Capacity: 1 metric ton without the HEC installed; 0.8 Metric ton with HEC installed

Maximum of 3 light walkers; example AT-ST or AT-AW (reduce passenger capacity by 15 for each walker on board)
or
3 Light vehicles; example Quad Recon Speeder (reduce passenger capacity by 15 for each vehicle on board
or
Up to 20 speeder bikes of the 74-Z make or similar size (reduce passenger capacity by 1.5 for each speeder bike on board)

Misc. Equipment:
  • Standard Navigation System
  • Standard Communications System
  • Standard Targeting Systems
  • Standard Sensors Systems
  • Hazardous Environment Compartmentalization

Description:
  • The All-Terrain Frontal Assault Transport or AT-FAT commonly called a FAT walker by the troops, is based of the old AT-AT model. Intended to bring to bear a massive amount of firepower upon enemy fortifications and units from a distance. It is capable of carrying infantry into battle along with a small vehicle complement on board to support.
  • The Hazard Environment Compartmentalization is a design also derived from the AT-AT, capable of now being able to conduct operations in tougher extreme weather conditions. The HEC is a simple compartmentalized system where upwards of 6 sitting with 2 standing personnel The infantry have seating in each compartment with a hatch in the floor or access to a side door as exits either the port or starboard side of the walker. Each compartment is access through a series of hatches that in the event of a breach of the hull each compartment is safe from fires, extreme weather, toxic gases and hostile fire. Also each compartments seating is equipped with standard crash harnesses in the unlikely event that propulsion systems are damaged rendering the AT-FAT immobile or worse toppling the walker. The idea behind the HEC is to increase the survival ability of the Imperial infantry while under hostile fire and/or extreme environments. Quite obviously if the HEC is uninstalled then decrease the survival ability to infantry.
  • The primary strength of the AT-FAT is its well-rounded layout of weaponry. Now able to defend itself against aerial attack and even hostile forces that attempt to outflank the walker.
  • One major drawback that just like its predecessor is the being a walker the joints are the weak points. Also due to the six legged design the AT-FAT has difficulties turning quickly having to move multiple legs in proper coordination takes time. So in exchange for above average maneuverability the FAT walker can traverse at higher speeds than that of the AT-AT.
  • Another major drawback is immediately underneath the head the vehicle's neck is still vulnerable to small arms fire and anti vehicle based weaponry. Thus a reliance on infantry support to prevent hostiles from exploiting this weak spot. The neck is similar to a central nervous system of the body, a multitude of cables and cords connect the head to the rest of the body. If severed the vehicle will no longer be able to move.
  • It makes up for this with having the twin linked light turbo laser cannon on top with a 360 degree firing radius. Another drawback is because it has a high weapon count is that requires a minimum crew of four with all members having to take on the role of gunner as well their primary job.
  • If at optimal crew levels the walker is able to fire all weaponry simultaneously and maneuver thanks to freeing up the amount of work the primary crew members have to perform. Again though the need for specially trained personnel to man all spaces requires considerable man power.
  • The AT-FAT Full fills a similar role to the old AT-AT of battlefield tactics. The Battle of Hoth is a primary example of this. Despite the Imperial Star Destroyers of Death Squadron having Void Supremacy the Empire lacked the ability to penetrate the Planetary Shields. Thus requiring a compact method of deploying ground forces on to the surface to dispose of the shield generator. Just like the AT-AT the AT-FAT is designed to destroy hostile infrastructure from afar, however once destroyed the AT-FAT performs the similar function of safely carrying personnel into the ruins of the former hostile stronghold.
  • AT-FAT has a either a cargo capacity for light vehicles to medium walkers. The reasoning behind this cargo capacity for vehicles is for compact delivery of war machine onto the planet surface at the expense of less troops and removal of the Hazardous Environment Compartmentalization. Additionally while deployed onto the battlefield the AT-FAT weapons are primarily long range weaponry, with ability to carry support vehicles in its own belly during the deployment phase the AT-FAT is able to bring more weaponry onto the field.
  • The AT-FAT is to be stored with its legs folded up making it just like the AT-AT a compact weapons platform. When being prepared for combat operations the AT-FAT is requires a time consuming 15 minutes to achieve green lights across the board for all systems due to the extensive weaponry and computer processing available on board. An Additional 10 minutes is required to be able to stand. Thus requiring a well trained and versed crew to be able to get the walker battle ready.
  • Deployment time onto the battlefield is based on the vessel deploying it. If the AT-FAT is deploying directly from a vessel such as an Imperial War Galleon it will be readied inside and begin walking down the assault ramps providing supporting fire to the assault transport ship. If the AT-FAT is deploying from the rear ramp of a Stalwart class corvette then it is semi vulenrable as the walker again requires time to maneuver around to achieve the forward fire arc.
  • In order to switch between the Hazardous Enviroment Compartmentalization or the Cargo Bay requires a minimum of 8 hours of refitting.
  • While in the midst of combat the AT-FAT is highly capable of deploying a platoon of storm troopers via hatches on the belly of the AT-FAT (When a HEC is installed) and via side doors. The side doors have space available for a gunner with either an E-web rapid fire blaster to be set up by the attendant platoon as they deploy into the Area of Operations. Whether that AO is either a ruined smoldering landscape or the sudden surprise attack of dissident and hostile elements.
  • If a HEC is not installed and the AT-FAT is carrying a complement of vehicles a standard internal rigging system to handle the carrying of several small and light vehicles or walkers. The AT-FAT uses a simple repulsor lift assist system from beneath it belly to handle the offloading of the vehicle complement. When the doors open on either side of the AT-FAT these lift assists work in conjunction with swing arms that extend out that are part of the internal rigging system. The rigging system helps guide the vehicles down onto the surface of the world.

In conclusion the AT-FAT is the next iteration of Imperial Military prowess with a powerful array of capabilities.

Hi there! You've submitted a very nice piece of tech, there's just a few things that need a little brushing up on:
  • Manufacturer name. Please put the full name of the company, easier for players wanting to reference.
  • The passenger/complement section needs to be dropped. Considering this thing is a self-propelled arty piece with defenses, it doesn't really need all of that inside of it. Its got enough firepower to bring down lots of hardened structures, so just drop the passenger cap and complement cap.
Thanks! @Me when edits have been made.

Hello! Thank you for reviewing this I've been drooling over the eventual use in a story narrative between the Imperial Remnant and the Rebel Alliance and eventually whomever else the IR ends up fighting.

Well I went ahead and expanded the submissions contents.
There is an easy justification for these complements and passenger capacity which I have cited in the description, I could go into further detail here but I feel simply linking the inspirational material would be best. Please review the AT-AT and AT-ART as examples of what the role of this submission is meant to provide.
The History of the AT-AT is of particular importance to the realization of this war machine.

I'll most likely perform a series of development posts in here if you require one.

Sorry for the extreme wait! Been caught up with RL circumstances.

I've had another look at this and everything looks great. Thanks for the work put into this and the patience at my absence!

Pending approval!
