Description:
The All Terrain Assault Walker as it has been dubbed is a vehicle designed for nothing less than all out battle and destruction.

Its design harkens back to the ancient All Terrain Assault Enforcer, a walker utilized by the Old Republic during the Clone Wars. The two war machines share many of the same characteristics, they each have six legs, they each have a top mounted turret, and they share the same squat nature, differing from the All Terrain Armored Transport that the Old Empire utilized so frequently. The AT-AW however is larger than the old AT-TE and is far more heavily armed than its ancient counterpart, as well as better defended.

The design of the AT-AW is simply designed around its main weapons systems. It features 4 anti-personnel laser cannons, each one a fast repeater. Their placement around the walker ensures a near 360 degree coverage of fire, making it extremely hard for enemy troops to actually reach the AT-AW. Along with these smaller weapons, mounted on the right shoulder of the AT-AW is a Heavy Quad Laser Canon. This weapon is specifically pointed towards the sky, and not the ground, designed to take out targets in the air hunting the AT-AW. This is to seal a major flaw in the designs of both the AT-AT and the AT-TE, giving it a way to counter attacks from the air.

The most iconic and most useful of the weapons on the AT-AW can be found on the top of the walker. Mounted on 360 degree swiveling turret is the Proton Cannon that has become so famed. This powerful gun was placed onto the AT-AW in favor of of a Mass Driver or Heavy Turbolaser due to its ability to pierce even star ship hulls. The Proton Cannon itself is no different from any other Proton Cannon in the galaxy.

The last and final weapon found on the All Terrain Assault Walker is a simple Concussion Missile Launcher. This Launcher is nothing more than a simple “point an shoot” using the Walkers targeting systems to send the missiles to its intended strike zone, thus they are most often used against stationary targets rather than fast moving vehicles.

The Most unique feature of the AT-AW is however not its weapons or its design, but instead the unique addition of a simple standard Deflector shield. This deflector shield is not really special in anyway, its entirely normal when compared to other shields. The only thing unique about it is how its activated. Instead of constantly drawing power from the Walkers generator, it instead works off of being directly connected to the walkers advanced sensor array. When the Sensors of the walker pick up an incoming missile, Turbo-laser shot, etc.. It immediately triggers the shield generator to activate. The Shield flickers to life instantaneously, blocking whatever projectile was incoming and then flickering off again.

The flaw with this system is that the sensors have difficulty reading smaller slow moving targets. This means that Grenades, mines, and similar objects lobbed slowly by troops will often not be detected by the sensors, making bypass the shield quite easily. It also means that men and women can get through to the walker as well, as long as theyre not running at it at full sprint. Though this is a glaring flaw, it is somewhat mitigated by the anti-personnel cannons that line the AT-AW.

All in all, the Shield is an excellent defensive system against Medium tanks and Anti-tank weaponry, allowing the AT-AW more survivability on the battlefield without making power draw a constant detraction.
