ADVANCED SYSTEMS
  • Hybrid Plexisteel Lining - Innate dispersive qualities allow for protection from Small Arms Fire and Blaster Cannons but doesn't negate the stopping power of various heavy anti-vehicular emplacements and weaponry.
  • System Purge - In accordance with First Order Military Protocol, should any of these Walker’s fall prey to the enemy, their integrated Droid Brain purges the system of any and all information housed within.
  • Integrated Droid Brain - As casualties in the line of duty are commonplace, the integrated Droid Brain allows for the Walker to carry on fighting for a period of time, should the pilots be slain or incapacitated. The effectiveness of the slaved circuits drastically diminishes the Walker’s combat prowess.
  • Serrated Leg Plates and DeGaussing Module(s) - The serrated edges of the Walker’s armoured leg plates acts as a countermeasure to hostile tow-cables and primitive ropes, severing them before they’re able to topple the bipedal stride. In addition, the inclusion of a degaussing module allows the crew to reverse the magnetic polarity of their armour, rendering any mag-sealed tow-cables or grapples useless.
  • Advanced Stabilization Gyro's - As the previous incarnations learned their lessons from the Battle of Endor, so too did the First Order. Utilizing a combined system, between reinforced stabilization modules and retractable traction spikes, it’s highly unlikely that the walker would ever topple on unsteady ground.
  • Reflec Enamel Coating - Other than adding a stylish matte black sheen to the exterior of the Imperial walker, the Reflec enamel coating made the Vornskr harder to detect on conventional scanners, producing a sensor silhouette when detected and making it nigh impossible to scan the internal systems. This, however, does not give the Walker the ability of true stealth, as that would require dozens of specialized sub-systems that would hamper the combat effectiveness of the war machine.
Strengths:
  • Assault Walker / Mobile 'Tank'.
  • Reflec Enamel Coating. (Sensor Silhouette.)
  • Integrated Droid Brain. (Heuristic Processor.)
  • Armoured Joints and Servos.
  • Serrated Legplates with DeGaussing Modules.
  • Traction Spikes.
Weaknesses:
  • Weakened Underbelly Armour.
  • Weakened Rear Plating. (Meant for Frontal Assaults, and Urban Combat.)
  • Forward Fixed Armament.
  • Frontal Visual Cone. (Heavy Reliance on Integrated Sensors.)
  • Wolfpack Mentality. (Weaker Alone.)
  • Top Heavy Walker.
  • Non-Modular Design.
Description: Colloquially known as the “Turkey Walker” amongst the enemies of the First Order due to its striking visual appearance and locomotion, the AT-AW/FO was a medium-classification and heavily-armed ground combat vehicle that was able to traverse across a myriad planetary environment(s) with ease. As the fledgling First Order became a galactic superpower once again, the need for new technological innovations was required - so that they would be able to remain at the forefront in every possible aspect of warfare - thus ensuring renegade systems were swiftly brought to heel, and blessed with the benevolence of true Imperial rule. From this newfound initiative, the foundations of the newest Imperial Walker to join the Order’s armed forces were forged. It was on the all-knowing crucible of war with their hated foes, the Galactic Alliance, that the inherent flaws of the subsequent generations of bipedal war machines were recognized and immediately supplanted by various marvellous enhancements.

The first and most prominent improvement in the overall design was that of the advanced gyro stabilization system, which was able to counteract the flaws of the AT-ST made apparent during the first and ancient conflict of the Galactic Civil War. Through the use of retractable traction spikes, in addition to an enhanced stabilization system that connected the twinned legs, the AT-AW/FO was able to pierce through whatever surface they were deployed on - ensuring that they wouldn’t be bowled over by primitive traps or natural disasters. While this system was a safeguard against a toppling walker, it was by no means perfect. Should the pilot be unable to evenly spread the top-heavy weight of his walker, the traction spikes would prove to be utterly useless. In addition to the stabilization enhancement, a secondary system of plating was mounted at various connective points across either of the Walker’s bipedal legs, and the central gimbal mount. This was to deter a creative foe from disabling and subsequently immobilizing the mobile support platform during combat scenarios.

Other advancements were poured into the various weapon systems that littered the metallic chassis, as both the previous incarnations of the AT-ST and it’s assault variant were unable to effectively combat the rising tides of aggression. They needed more than the simplistic armament that adorned their frames, especially when fighting in both urban environments and siege-like setting. The First Order sought to outfit their newest mobile platform with a myriad of weapons that would be utterly devastating in assault operations, and brutally effective in urban environments. With the rotational chin-mounted turret, the AT-AW/FO would be able to decimate entire squadrons of soldiers - should they be caught in the open, or driven from their cover by the violent application of the integrated Flame cannon. The twinned particle cannons affixed to its dorsal surface would prove to be instrumental in combating enemy fortifications, or hostile armoured elements. Though, with the slow rate of fire between the two immensely powerful cannons - it is advised that the Walker’s Commander orders his Gunner to choose their targets carefully - lest they not survive the counterattack.

Thus, with all the ferocity of a Vornskr, the very name that was attributed to the pattern of this very Walker, did the AT-AW/FO stalk the battlefield in search of prey, destroying all that stood in its path.

Just to clarify, the reflec enamel doesn't cause this to have any stealth properties per se, but makes it difficult to scan the internals of?

driven from their cover by the violent application of liquid, and molten promethium.
It appears that Star War's version of promethium is "extremely rare". Is there a particular reason for using this unusual metal over something else?

[member="Gir Quee"] - Yes, you'd be correct in regards to that clarification. It essentially allows the Walker to become a silhouette on an enemy's scanner, harder to detect or scan the internal systems, but not invisible by any means. I'll add a little extra into the description to ensure that others reading the submission don't require the same clarification in the future.

As for the Promethium? Both canon and IRL information I've found on this material mention that it's extremely rare, however in our universe we were able to synthesize the material by bombarding enriched uranium with thermal neutrons. So, as a lot of what's mentioned in Star Wars is grounded and based in reality, I figured it wouldn't be a stretch to assume that the case would be the same here in Star Wars.

Would it alright if I worked in the synthesized promethium, or would you prefer I found an alternative?

I could go with that reasoning, to a degree. Speaking not as a judge though, but just the average person though, I don't understand what it does in this submission. If I were to guess though, it's working as a scorching, molten metal that also irradiates a general area? It may not hurt to add an additional sentence in here that spells out what it does more explicitly.

I Just going through it all again to make sure I didn't miss anything:

The information here is solid, but we also can't change any of the base fields (this is combined Codex/Factory Rule #5). So the speeds need to be combined to simply "Speed", and "maneuverability rating" should just be "Maneuverability".

Same thing here. If you'll please combine these areas to "Armament" and "Defense" respectively.

[member="Gir Quee"] - I've combined the fields as requested, and have altered the promethium caster to a regular flame projector, as I feel it would be better explained in the future with its own submission - rather than being a footnote in this one. Haha
