Strengths

Brilliant Strategist; Able to read the ebb and flow of Void Combat, Astarii can predict the minute movements of a warship or fighter screens, and counter such manoeuvres with precision and alacrity.
Line Commander; Astarii believes that in keeping a calm and collected composure during the agonising grind of naval warfare. She commands without a doubt and expects those under her authority to follow without question. She also knows that she is a symbol to her crew, and strives not to break in the face of the enemy, for if she does, all is lost.
Competent Duelist; Like most Naval Captains of the Hapan Consortium, Astarii spent much of her time during the transit between worlds honing her skill with the Duelist's Vibrorapier and her ancient S-5 Heavy Blaster pistol in various exercises that pushed her limits.
Physically Alluring; With her heritage spawned from the loins of an arranged and beauteous coupling, the Hapan Officer was considered by many to be attractive, by human standards at least. All of this was true, despite the imprecise application of a crude melee weapon and flash grenades.

Weaknesses

Ruthless; The Captain commands, and the Crew shall obey. This ideological standpoint is what defines Astarii the most. She is willing to sacrifice the few in hopes of saving the many. That said, only if ordered too, she will utilise every asset at her disposal to protect those that she can, so they may live on to fight another day.
Cruel; Not uncommon for Consortium Officers, Astarii finds herself treating those that have wronged her with inhuman cruelty. She'll most likely planet her polished boots on One's backside, and give him a sudden one way trip out of an airlock, should she be angered.
Vain; Astarii prides herself on presentation. It simply wouldn't stand for the Commanding Officer of a Void-Faring vessel to be dishevelled, thus, if one visible molecule were out of place, she would become irritated. Varying in scope depending entirely on the infraction at hand.
Lonely; When she's not on duty or in the training hall, Captain Saren spends much of her time sequestered within her quarters with an imaginative holo-novel and a pleasing cup of freshly brewed herbal tea.
Pretentious; Born and raised in the ivory spires of Charubah, the noble-born woman finds herself looking down the length of her nose at those whose rank, and status, are beneath hers. Especially if they're men
Xenophobic; Life in the Transitory Mists had imposed a general distaste for inhuman sentients. While she knows that the galaxy is rife with their kind, and has to learn to accept it, she cannot help but feel unnerved by their seemingly unnatural existence coming to life before her very eyes.
Stubborn; She stands when it suit would her to fall. She fights as sense and instinct would have her flee. Astarii would rather face death itself, before dishonouring the shoulder flashes pinned to her uniform. As she would expect of any of those under her command, Astarii obeys any order give to her by those above her station and does so without question. Even if that command is to die, she would not fight against her newly assigned fate - but go into the night taking as many of her enemies with her as possible.

Personality

To define Astarii Saren in one simple statement is not as difficult as one might think. She's a warrior through and through. The woman's loyal to those under her command, and to those that direct her wroth. She's silent in the rare moments of repose but effortlessly instructs her crew without missing a beat. She'll make the hard choices, and do what is required of her - no matter of the odds stacked against her.

Brief Biography

When the Consortium fell prey to the vile influences of the One Sith, everything that Astarii Saren had known and loved crumbled to pieces before her eyes. Before the Fall, however, Astarii Saren was bred to be the perfect heiress to the Saren Family name, and their industrial holdings on her homeworld of Charubah. However, the life of an idle heiress chafed at her restless, and inherent warrior's spirit. And so, when she had come of age, Astarii enlisted with the Royal Hapan Navy. In the years that followed her abandonment of her families assigned, and choking future, the woman experienced a meteoric rise through the ranks, earning her command at the age of thirty. She's since then, subdued roving bands of seditious pirates, fought off waves of malicious marauders and sent expeditionary vessels back through the in-navigable ion clouds of the Transitory Mists. All the deeds a newly minted Captain would do, in order to keep her homeland safe and secure, and sate the hidden thirst for adventure that lay beneath her iron veneer.
Her world had almost ended for the first time when her ageing Nova-Class Battlecruiser was boarded by a horde of violent male outcasts and pirates. One careless glance and her eyes were seared by the blinding light of an altered flash grenade, almost stealing her sight entirely. Hours later as the revolutionary Outcast force had slowly begun to dwindle, her beauteous face was marred by a crude machete, that may or may not have been fashioned from the ruined decks of the Captain's own vessel. When she had awoken from the trauma, she sustained during the melee; her retina's had been replaced by combat implants and her right cheek was to be forever disfigured. Horrified by what she saw, Astarii fled into the comfort of her quarters and spent many weeks in seclusion. With her absence noted and understanding that her Captain needed the rest, the Nova Class Battle Cruiser carried on with its duty under the command of Astarii's executive officer. The woman who had taken over was less compliant with the rules and regulations of the Royal Navy and had allowed the expeditionary vessels of the One Sith to slip through their patrolled sector of space.
With the fire of duty rekindled within her spirit, and her enforced seclusion coming to an end, Astarii resumed her command and was dismayed by what she had seen. Her return to the service marked the day that the Consortium fell, and along with her crew, foreswearing their oaths and pledging allegiance to the swaying crimson banners of the One Sith. Enraged at such a callous betrayal of their cause and duty, Astarii had purged her vessel of the command crew in the twilight hours of her return, in a deed that was ceremoniously dubbed by the survivors as the Dawn of the Long Knife. She left the slain corpses where they lay and banished the vessel into the heart of a nearby star. Moments before the warship had crossed the point of no return, she consigned the remains of her traitorous crew, those both living and the dead, to their well-deserved fates. Now free of her command, labelled as a defector in the eyes of her superiors, and by those faithless Cravens that venerate the perfidious idol atop the Fountain Palace, Astarii combs the stars in search of hope. Hope that she may one day return to the Hapes Cluster at the head of an armada, cast down the duplicitous Queen Mother, and end the lives of those that had taken everything away from her.
