Strengths:

• Speedy - Much like its predecessor, the Assegai-class Corvette is very fast due to its engines being directly tied to the Siaber Crystal based reactor
• Maneuverable - Much like its predecessor, the Assegai-class is highly maneuverable
• Stop Right There Criminal Scum - The addition of a single gravity well projector allows the Assegai-class to interdict ships it finds on patrol, preventing their escape
• I See You - The Assegai-class is equipped with an advanced sensor array to allow it to detect ships at a much greater distance than standard sensors

Weaknesses:

• Don't Crack the Crystals - If the Siaber Crystals are damaged, they will cause a catastrophic reaction that will, in all likelihood, destroy the ship
• Low Weaponry - While it has a few more weapons than its predecessor, the Assegai-class is not equipped to deal with ships beyond its own size one on one and will be likely be destroyed quickly
• Very Low Defensive Capabilities - The Assegai-class is only equipped with minimal hull plating and deflector shields, defenses that will not last long at all in an engagement against a stronger enemy

Description:

As the next ship in Aurora Industries' modernization program, the Assegai-class Corvette is designed to replace the aging Intersector War Sloop. Nearly double in length, the ship retains the fundamental design choices of the Intersector, that being speed and maneuverability over straight up firepower or defenses. The new ship is very agile and quick, thanks to the Siaber Crystal reactor.

The Assegai-class also sports some of Aurora's latest weaponry with the Fornax Turbolasers and Hydrus Ion Cannons, along with several quad laser cannons to deal with enemy fighters, although it was deemed prudent to remove the plasma torpedo launchers. The Assegai-class is also equipped with advanced sensors to detect enemy ships from further distances, and one other surprise for criminals, pirates, and other enemy forces that it might encounter on patrol duties. The Assegai-class has been given a single gravity well projector to allow interdiction of enemies it encounters, and while it is not designed to engage targets larger than itself, it can do just fine against pirates, smugglers, and other criminal scum of the galaxy.
