DESCRIPTION
Not so very long ago, before the twin worlds of Dubrillion and Destrillion came under Mandalorian dominion, the Jewel of the Outer Rim operated under the rule of monarchy and, by extension, the nobility. In practice, as on many worlds, this was mostly a symbolic function in many respects, but unlike many worlds in certain regions of Dubrillion it became popular after a time and then tradition after even longer for the aristocracy to be involved in business, many of the more influential even going so far as to own their corporations. Over a long enough period of time these companies became inseparably associated with their noble patrons, their fortunes rising and plummeting along with their family's status in the Dubrillion court and vice versa.
AskrimaCorp is one such corporation, one of the rising tech duchies off the southern continental coast. Headquartered on the Askrima island chain that composes the majority of the duchy's holdings, the company is currently owned by the young Duke Arix, son of the late Tyronus. As the Duke is currently serving a term of service in the Galactic Alliance Starfighter Corps, as well as given the conflicts that can arise for a Jedi attempting to run a business, he runs the company in absentia, and in practice AskrimaCorp is run by a board of directors much like SoroSuub, although they are almost fanatically loyal to their CEO and Duke, for they are also vassals of the Duchy to a man.
Making their first credits off their innovative patents on proprietary tibanna harvesting technology that increased efficiency dramatically, the previous Dukes used that wealth to reinvest into research and development for high end tech products. And so one of the first and greatest coastal tech duchies was born. Of course, recent history has been hard on AskrimaCorp. With the untimely death of Duke Tyronus and his son at the time an unknown, the company was forced off Dubrillion shortly before Mandalorian occupation and for some time has operated in exile. Even with the return of the Duke and their recent purchase by SoroSuub, the company had only managed to maintain operations on Sullust and Coruscant. With the recent independence of Dubrillion, the corporation took advantage of the opportunity, with the help of a cash infusion from SoroSuub, to petition the royal family for special dispensation to conduct a hostile takeover of the rival duchy's interests on the historic Askrima islands.
Bemused by the audacious request and provided proof of noble lineage, the rulers of Dubrillion granted AskrimaCorp's request and the company's headquarters have relocated back to the ancestral Askrima Estate.
RATIONALE
So loyal is the corporation to the noble house that when the Duke passed, leaving no known heirs, a rival house used the opportunity to seize their lands and strip their personal finances (and also, it is rumored, conspiring to murder Duke Tyronus himself). Instead of kowtowing to the new regime, the company closed up all operations on Dubrillion and elsewhere, save for a few remote stations, and effectively ran dark. Dipping deep into their savings to eat the cost of doing practically no business year after year. It was not until the son of the Viscount Kryptos, a lesser family long loyal to House Askrima, now a Jedi Knight and Alliance officer, brought a badly wounded young man to one of the few remaining AskrimaCorp stations, and presented them with an authentic ducal signet (the signet in turn, itself serving as a DNA authenticator of the Askrima line). After being proven worthy by the signet in front of Corp witnesses, the line of Askrima began again with Duke Arix and the company resumed operations.
