  • Despite the muddy exterior, the swamp planet of Mimban has its share of treasures hiding underneath the mists and marshes. For many years, it was the home of the Force relic known as the Kaiburr crystal. It was also the home of the Church of Pomojema, a deity dedicated to healing. From this church, there were priests who served the god, and many of such were connected to the energy Jedi call the Force. It is from one of these lineages that Kavaam Thol was born.

His life started off as rather mundane, living in one of the many Mimbanite villages that dotted the swamps of Mimban. At the age of 3, he was found to be sensitive with the Force. Rather than turn him over to the Jedi, it was expected that Kavaam would be raised as a Priest of Pomojema, just as many of his forebears before him. He began his training at the young age of 7, beginning his years as an Acolyte. However, his training at home would soon find itself cut short.

A criminal organization came to Mimban, and began taking children to be trained as enforcers. It was by unfortunate fate that Kavaam was of special interest, as said criminals could see special usage of a Force sensitive under their command. For years, Kavaam endured under their harsh training, having been given a brutal ex-Sith as an instructor. Yet, times were not all bad, as Kavaam found a companion among those who were taken as slaves like himself. A Zabrak girl named Patra, whom was also spirited away to become an enforcer. The two grew close over the years, budding from friendship to a romance.

When he was 19, Kavaam soon became a fierce criminal enforcer, often teaming with Patra to lead heists or attack settlements. He was renown in this gang for his wild talent in the Force, as his instructor only made Kavaam privy to basic Force techniques. The gang's activities soon found them hiding out in the Unknown Regions, away from any authorities that might want to seize them. Yet, they were foolish to not heed the warnings of what dangers lurked in this section of the Galaxy. Their gang was soon attacked by the Brotherhood of the Maw, resulting in many casualties. Kavaam fought both against them, and against his brothers-in-arms who betrayed him.

The apex of this situation was facing one of his fellows who held a wounded Patra hostage. In the end, with righteous fury, he killed the man but also lost his beloved. His rage and sorrow did not go unnoticed, as he had been watched by a Knight of Ren. Witnessing that Kavaam had indeed brought a "good death", the Knight offered membership into their clan. And having nothing from his old life remaining, Kavaam accepted.

Thus was the birth of Askard Ren. Kavaam had taken the name of a proud warrior-ancestor of his, Askard Thol, that fought with the Mimbanese Liberation. He now follows his new brothers as a novice Knight of Ren, seeking to better hone his control over the Shadow.
    • Mudborn: As a Mimbanite, Askard is adapted to surviving in the muddy world of Mimban. Thanks to his species' evolution on such a world, his eyes are able to see well in low light. In addition, he can naturally navigate most swampy terrain with better ease than most non-Mimbanites.
    • Force Wielder: Having been born into a long lineage of Pomojema Priests, Askard has a connection to the Force, and has particular affinity to the dark side. He was taught truly basic skills by an ex-Sith.
    • Fighter: Having been essentially raised in a criminal gang, Askard learned how to fight. He is proficient in hand-to-hand combat, as well as with pistols. He is also getting better under the tutelage under the Knights.
    • Novice: Despite all of his life experience, Askard is still basic in the knowledge of the Force. At this point in his training, his finesse with Force techniques is fairly lacking.
    • Psuedo-Abolitionist: Having been a technical slave for most of his life, he takes offense to other Maw tribes that enslave others. This occasionally gets him in trouble or butting heads with members from those tribes.
