Ashura Tengoku, born Kai'kura Jingoku, hails from the distant and ancient planet Sanghelio, a world cloaked in mystery and rarely documented by galactic records. Sanghelio lies deep in uncharted space beyond the Unknown Regions, where hyperspace lanes fracture and vanish, and where few dare to travel. The Sangheili, a proud, theocratic warrior species, developed a rich martial culture independent of the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire alike.
Kai'kura was born into a noble house, trained in the Kaidonu rites—an ancient combat philosophy steeped in honor, warfare, and divine duty. As a young Sangheili, he rapidly ascended through the ranks of his kind, eventually becoming a Supreme Guard of Samsara, the elite protector of the High Kaidons of Sanghelio. But betrayal came not from an enemy, but from within.
A rival house unleashed a devastating orbital bombardment on Samsara Citadel during a holy convergence, annihilating the ruling council and branding Kai'kura a traitor for surviving. Exiled and stripped of his title, he shed his birth name and became Ashura Tengoku—Ashura meaning "one who endures in eternal battle," and Tengoku meaning "of the stars."
